Children's Library in kindergartens: possibilities, limits and challenges

My dissertation comes out of claim that the exploitation of library for children in kindergarten isn't systematically processed. But, it is apparent, acording international research (PIRLS, PISA), that the existence of library for children has positive influence to the development of reading literacy. The objective of my dissertation was the charting of the role of libraries for children in kindergarten. The dissertation were finding out how the library for children are used in kindergartens. What we need to build up to the functional library was the next topic of my dissertation. Both main topics were examinated in qualitative research. I used the design of case studying. I closely charted three cases of kindergarten where the library for children is used. It is needed to add relevant literature, interactive books and attractive books (inside and ouside). This way brings perfect and full using of library. Apart of this, it is the same with the appearence of the library. It is essential to captivate with attractive and nice appearence by children and adults too. The role of the book in evolution of the children's imagination

The master thesis deals with the importance of the book in evolution of the children's imagination. The first part includes short introduction to problems of children's imagination. The second part is engaged in ontogeny of child from prenatal period to the middle childhood and in progress of key competences. It analyzes selected psychological approaches, which had the imagination as a subject of the research. The thesis explains and defines basic terms and processes of the imagination. It deals with a specific phenomenon of the children's imagination and with the evolution of the imagination. The third part introduces typical children's literature, directs on the traditional fairytale and it specifies problems of the literary characters too. It describes the historical development of the Czech book illustration, importance of the illustration in books for children and it also describes children's drawings. The fourth part applies all of previous pieces of knowledges into the work experience in kindergarten. It also describes relations between child and school or child and book. Viability of Using Erstlesebuch in Classes Teaching German as a Foreign Language

The diploma thesis deals with the book genre Erstlesebuch (book for beginner readers) as educational material in the context of foreign language education at the levels of Basic Users (A0/1-A2). In the context of first language teaching, this specific genre belongs to the field of literature, the didactic of literature, and the didactic of reading. The goal of this diploma thesis is to present different possibilities of didactic activities with Erstlesebuch in the context of second language teaching and to formulate criteria for choosing an appropriate text. The theoretical part describes the context of foreign language education and the role of literature in this context, with consideration for the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The theoretical part also presents the specifics of the book genre Erstlesebuch itself. The empirical part of this thesis is based on several investigations: firstly on a complex analysis (readability and text structure) of six Erstlesebuch and secondly on empirical research in reading with schoolchildren at higher grades of an elementary school (children at the age of 13-15). This Master's thesis deals with the life and work of the South Bohemian educator and writer Jindřich Malšínský. The thesis is divided into two parts. The first part aims to describe by means of the biographical method the writers biography. The second part includes selected work of J. Malšínský with a specific focus on the interpretation of the novel called Principál by means of hermeneutic approach.

Baobab Publishing Company-publishing companys profile, its media image and place on the Czech Book Market

Thesis "Baobab Publishing Company - publishing company ́s profile, its media image and place on the Czech book market" deals with an alternative publishing house specializing in child readers. Baobab has been on the market for ten years. In my work, I will present its past functioning and contribution to Czech readers during this period. The thesis describes the formation and evolution of publishing company, its profile, vision and direction. It gives an account of its editing programs and special events organized by the company. Space is dedicated to awards which Baobab has collected in the Czech Republic and abroad, as well as to the current issue of VAT increase. It may have a big impact on the Czech book market and on small publishers in particular. Furthermore, the work concentrates on the media image of the publishing company. The analysis is based on newspaper articles in Czech periodicals and evaluates how often and to what extent is media engaged in publishing activities. I also discusses the problem of the lack of journalists who would be continuously reporting on children's books, and would be able to evaluate them profesionally.
