Alternative use of biomass
Hornoch, Radek ; Radil, Lukáš (referee) ; Bartošík, Tomáš (advisor)
This bachelor´s thesis describes the options of the processing biomass on the nobler fuels and their using. In the first part are described the sources of biomass so the option targeted grow crops or use different convenient wastes. The second part contains a description of the technology, how to revise the biomass to synthesis gas, methanol, ethanol, biodiesel and biogas. They are given yields on already mentioned high-grade fuels from individual crops and technologies. The third part deals with device where it is maybe to use nobler forms of fuels. It is going about traditional heating plant with back pressure or condensing extraction turbine, steam heating plant, a cogeneration unit with micro turbine, a cogeneration unit with combustion engine and a cogeneration unit with fuel cells. At the end of the chapter is a comparison of the different devices when using different fuels.
Energy yields per one hectare of land in the South Moravian Region
Plášek, Tomáš ; Bayer, Robert (referee) ; Jandová, Kristýna (advisor)
This bachelor thesis compares methods of producing elektricity in biogas plant, in thermal power plants by burning biomass, in solar power plants and compares it with production of energy of fuel cells and the energy from biofuels, like biodiesel and bioethanol. It compares the energy yields of different energy production methods and evaluates their advantages and disadvantages. It compares the energy content of these fuels by model vehicle range.
The use of alternative fuels in the Air Transport
Dvorský, David ; Šplíchal, Miroslav (referee) ; Nastálek, Ondřej (advisor)
The objectives of this thesis is an overview of the available aviation fuel and possible alternatives. Evaluation of the applicability of alternative fuels in aviation. Furthermore, to assess the overall readiness of each technology across the aviation, from general aviation through public air transportation to transport helicopters. Evaluate the economic situation in each sector and determine the best alternative fuel option.
Energy yields per one hectare of land in the South Moravian Region
Plášek, Tomáš ; Bayer, Robert (referee) ; Jandová, Kristýna (advisor)
This essay analysis problems of photovoltaic power plant operation and production of elektricity from biofuels. It also compares energy yields from different types of biofuels with yields of energy from solar panel. The essay also evaluates consumption of these fuels and efficiency of powering cars with combustion engine against electrical car.
Possibilities of waste glycerol reprocessing
Hýža, Bohumil ; Friedl, Zdeněk (referee) ; Kizlink, Juraj (advisor)
The aim of my bachelor thesis is to describe the possibilities of waste glycerol reprocessing. The thesis is purely theoretical and the information were obtained from various literary sources. Introduction of the study deals with the technological aspects of production of biodiesel by esterification of vegetable oils with methanol. Futhermore, there is described the amount of biodiesel produced in various countries around the world. In the theoretical part of the study are mentioned physical and chemical properties of glycerol and its traditional uses include the manufacture of nitroglycerin, the pharmaceutical use, etc. There are presented different technological methods for processing large quantities of glycerol too, such as steam reforming, which generates syngas which can be used for production of liquid fuels via Fischer-Tropsch synthesis. There is also desribed reduction of glycerol to propylene glycol with hydrogen. Other methods are dehydroxylation of glycerol to 1,3 - propanediol, halogenation of glycerol to produce epichlorohydrin, the catalytic dehydration of glycerol to acrolein and 3-hydroxy-propionic aldehyde, oxydehydration to polyacrylic acid, glycerol butylation over the Amberlyst catalyst and the formation of glycerol-tert-butyl ethers used as additives for fuels , polymerization of glycerol to polyglycerols, glycerol hydrothermal conversion to lactic acid catalyzed by alkali, esterification of carboxylic acids and glycerol to form glycerol esters, selective oxidation of glycerol to glyceric acid, tartronic acid and dihydroxyacetone, and glycerol as an additive for cement.
Fuel for internal combustion engines
Vrbický, Jiří ; Jedelský, Jan (referee) ; Štětina, Josef (advisor)
This thesis is concerned with basic features of fuels for internal consumption engines, especially their influence on thermal efficiency. It also introduces dividing of fuels and their compare in ecologic, economic and technologic side. It is concerned convectional fuels (gasoline, diesel oil) and alternative fuels (nature gas, bottled gas, hydrogen, biodiesel, biogas, methanol and ethanol).
Natural gas as fuel for internal combustion engines
Hromádka, Adam ; Beran, Martin (referee) ; Píštěk, Václav (advisor)
The content of this Bachelor thesis is a short overview and characteristic of alternative fuels for combustion engines. The main object is detailed analyse of natural gas application in terms of operating, economy and ecology.
Alternative Fuel Engines
Mišelnický, Lukáš ; Svída, David (referee) ; Dundálek, Radim (advisor)
Bachelor thesis describes the engines to alternative fuels. There are presented different types of fuel properties and engine modifications so that the fuel can burn. In conclusion, the overall assessment of the prospects for future development
Alternative Fuels in Agricultural Engineering and Trucks
Masnica, Pavel ; Svída, David (referee) ; Dundálek, Radim (advisor)
The purpose of this thesis is introduction of alternative fuels especially in agriculture. Compare the properties of alternative fuels, their impact to ecology and engine power. Advantages and disadvantages of alternative fuels. And their expectations.
Perspective bus powertrains
Kubík, Jan ; Maršálek, Ondřej (referee) ; Píštěk, Václav (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is to consider possible future development of alternative powertrains with regard to their use in buses. First described are the most promising alternative fuel vehicles, which use an internal combustion engine. The next part is evaluated ways to store energy using electric drives. At the end of the work is mentioned hybrid technology as a combination of previous drives.
