Zaoralová, Hana ; Erben, Adam (referee) ; Pavlovský, Tomáš (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis is based on the school work from the subject AG033 – Architectural design studio 3. The architectural design deals with a new housing building, which is situated in Brno – Královo Pole, on Chaloupkova and Košinova street. The construction site consists of several parcels unified under one owner. The construction of low-rise houses and a car workshop are currently located on these plots, but their demolition is planned. The investor also wanted a communication link between the new building and the adjacent parking house, which he also owns. The plot is adjacent to a care center for the blind and purblind people, a primary school and a parking house, which is connected to the new housing building by a galerry. The new building combines the function of housing on the upper floors, as well as a doctor's office, rentable studios, a cafe or several sales areas. In the two underground floors, there are storrage cubicles and parking, which can be accessed by two car lifts. The construction site has an elongated shape with a corner to the south Its eastern side connects to Košinova street. Close to this place, there are both 4-5 storey buildings and low-rise family houses with 1-2 storeys. Due to dimension of the streets, the height is important. The highest floor of the building was set back from the street. At the same time, the building complements the gap and thus contributes to a better intergrated surrounding development. The building is designed as a combination of wall and skeleton frame support systém, where the skeleton frame is used ih the underground floors, and the wall support systém is used in the higher floors.

Válková, Klára ; Klimecký, Martin (referee) ; Gerö, Jiří (advisor)
The bachelor's thesis is based on an architectural study developed within the subject Architectural Design Studio [AG034]. The subject of the design is the new construction of an apartment building complex together with dormitories for students on the territory of the Lerchova compound, which is located on a sloping plot of land in the Freedom square in Brno. The design consists of two blocks, block A and block B. Block A has five floors above ground and is divided into a part where there are dormitories used for short-term accommodation and a part of housing units. On the ground floor there are spaces for rent with the possibility of commercial use. Block B, used only for short-term accommodation of students in dormitory cells, has four above-ground floors. On the ground floor of block B, there are common rooms for students, such as the library and study room. Both blocks are connected by the first underground floor. In total, block A provides accommodation in 20 flats with an area of 2+kk , studios 2+kk, 3+kk and 4+kk and accommodation for 112 students. Block B has accommodation for 72 students. From the point of view of materials, block A has the shape of an irregular letter U, the longer side of which copies Lerchova Street; the shorter side allows residents a view of Kraví hora and the surroundings of the Masaryk district. Two corners are taken from the total volume of matter, from the second above-ground floor to the fifth, towards Kraví hora. These removed masses serve as balconies. Block B has a rectangular shape. Two parts are taken from the total mass of the building, which serve as common balconies of the cells. Both blocks are covered with a green roof. The color of the facade of both blocks respects the colors of the surroundings of Freedom square. The facade of block A is complemented by aluminum slats with wood imitation in the module, which is located in the layout of the revitalized square. The proposal discusses the construction of a complex of two buildings, as well as the connection to the adjacent area of Freedom square. As part of the project documentation, block A is addressed.
Vancouver - Affordable Housing Challenge
Pleštilová, Tereza ; Klimecký, Martin (referee) ; Gerö, Jiří (advisor)
The subject of this work was the preparation of project documentation consisting of the building permit documentation, documentation for the execution of the construction and the design of the architectural detail. The Bachelor thesis is based on the architectural study developed as a part of the course AG035studio work. The main idea behind social housing in Vancouver is to create affordable housing primarily for young people, whether individuals, couples, or families. The goal of the new housing design is to maximize the use of unbuilt and especially ballast plots near the city centre, attractive to the young generation that is lacking in Vancouver downtown. This need corresponds with the site plan which is derived from a maple leaf, the symbol of Canada, stylized into a pentagon. Addition of right angles creates a landform of variable use that can be easily placed on vacant lots even of irregular shapes. The proposed complex of three apartment buildings is located in the city of Vancouver, Canada, in a local neighbourhood of Mount Pleasant. The subject site is located south of the city centre and the site is easily accessible due to the well-developed public transportation and frequently used bicycle network. The proposal addresses both the building and the connection to the adjacent neighborhood. A total of three buildings of varying heights are proposed. The lowest is five storey and the heights escalate to the tallest seven storey building. The taller buildings stand on corners and visually exposed locations. There are four residential units proposed on each storey of the residential buildings, with the exception of the first storey offering rentable spaces. In total, sixty residential units are proposed, fifteen of which are of the 3+kitchen corner type and the other forty-five of the 1+kitchen corner type. The project documentation of the Bachelor's thesis deals with the apartment building A located in the north of the site.
