Willingness to pay for ski passes in Slovakia
Bakošová, Diana ; Polák, Petr (advisor) ; Šťastná, Lenka (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to analyze the willingness to pay for ski passes of consumers in Slovakia. Ordinal logistic regression is utilized on data collected by a self-developed online questionnaire. The dependent variable, Resort, rep- resents four resort types categorized from the least to the most expensive. The length of a usual ski resort visit in days, the length of the slopes in km, the difficulty of the slopes, the resort's locality, and the option to buy ski passes online were shown to have a positive effect and be statistically significant in the final model. The presence of a ski lift for kids in the resort and the ability to arrive at a resort by car in less than an hour were shown to be statistically significant with a negative effect. The only statistically significant demographic variable was shown to be the consumers' income in thousands of euros with a positive effect. Strnadová, Ivana ; Polák, Petr (advisor) ; Kučera, Adam (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to analyze the consumers' willingness to pay for subscription- based video streaming services in the Czech Republic. With the unique data collected via self-developed questionnaire both the willingness to pay and the maximum price that consumers would be willing to pay for such services is examined. Using the logistic regression, variables that have a significant effect on the probability of subscribing were identified. These include the age, education level, preference for original sound and Czech movie production, online payments, purchase of an electronic movie, number of devices used, cinema visits, favouritism of movies over TV shows, satisfaction with the content offered by common broadcasting stations and desire for spatial mobility when accessing video content. Similar results were obtained when predicting the price using OLS. Additionally a previous purchase of a physical medium and the income level were found significant. Based on demand estimation this thesis also suggests that from the provider's perspective the optimal profit maximization price for streaming services should be set in the range from 218 to 283 CZK.

This master's thesis focuses on the valuation of the Municipal Library in Prague, the cultural institution allowances organization. Its aim is to estimate the value up for the date of 31th October 2013 for the purpose of its founder, Prague - the capital city, and to compare the measured value with the level of annual non-capital contribution for the Municipal Library from its founder. The valuation was performed by using the contingent valuation method, which is based on random sample of the questionnaire survey respondents who express their preferences. They are gradually guided to be able to provide the maximum price that they would be willing to pay for use of services and to be able to work out what financial compensation they would be willing to accept for the decrease in their quality life. The starting point of this thesis is to determine the prognosis of the number of registered readers, borrowings, economy of the Municipal Library, its market position and other requisites. This thesis is one of the few which contains valuation in the cultural sector in the Czech Republic.
