The second part consists of a case study of evolution of interactive television in the United Kingdom. As it tries to answer the main research question - which technological phases must have happened in the transition from linear to interactive television - the thesis divides interactive television into five main phases. The first phase occurs in the analogue broadcasting era, with Teletext as the first instance of "on demand", and first instance of convergence by using telephone. The second phase starts around 1998 with the start of digitalisation. The new technology allows the providers to launch several new forms of interactivity, such as the walled garden, first applications and others. The third phase, starting around 2002 can be seen as the acceptance of interactivity as a...

Processing and Streaming Video in Browser for Screen Recording
Svačina, Lukáš ; Beran, Vítězslav (referee) ; Španěl, Michal (advisor)
Aim of the thesis is to design and implement unique service based on the newest technologies in web apps fi eld which allows screen recording followed by P2P distribution between participating users using web browser only. Thesis deals with the analysis of modern and coming technologies which allow practical implementation of such a service. It involves obtaining access to the screen source data, its recording, transforming and transmission over the network followed by playing on the other side. Recorded videos are adapted for part by part use in a player with seeking capability. Distributed architecture for data exchange between peers using peer-to-peer connection based on hybrid P2P VoD network provides scalability of the solution. The player allows obtaining the necessary parts of the videos from the current watchers with smooth video playback experience during ongoing transmissions whilst allowing arbitrary video shifting. In consideration of early stages of development or experimental support for some of the APIs needed for this work, research into browsers' support with discussion on realistic applicability nowadays is always performed.

Kopřiva, Milan ; Pavlíček, Antonín (advisor) ; Smutný, Zdeněk (referee)
Bachelor thesis deals with the features of security tools for masking identity in terms of utility to circumvent the regional limitations of providers of an audiovisual service on demand. Thesis is divided into three general parts. In the first part the thesis is dealing with the basic theoretical features of the AV works such as resolution, colour depth, frame rate, compression and codec. An explanation of these attributes is crucial for the understanding of the remaining chapters of this thesis. In the second part of the thesis deals with the providers of AV media service on demand operating outside of the Czech Republic, which are therefore unavailable for domestic users. In this part the thesis is virtually trying to see the problems with the use of these services, particularly in terms of registration to the service and use of the tools to circumvent the regional limitations. The final, third part of this thesis presents the security tools, whose basis allows their use to circumvent the geographical restrictions. In this chapter the performances of individual tools are evaluated, whereas the evaluation has been based on the original, two-month lasting research of internet speed connection, where particular security tools were used. The conclusion proves that it is possible to use security tools for circumvent geographic restrictions at providers of AV media services on demand. To prove this statement the author made a second test, where he observed the quality of instantly playing video with the use of individual security tools within the different providers of an AV media services on demand.
