Mazzarello - the period when she was the general superior of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians Institute. The main sources are taken from her correspondence, from the Theresa of Jesus's documents and papers and from the salesian spirituality literature.

Teresa of Jesus: Interior Castle Kateřina Kutarňová Diploma thesis Abstract This thesis seeks to understand the most important text of Teresa of Jesus -'Interior Castle' which is considered one of the most important books of Spanish mysticism. This understanding should be achieved by using both theological and phenomenologico- hermenutical commentaries. The main topics of this thesis are religious and mystical experience, mystical transformation and intersubjectivity. Motivated by the possibility of gaining the understanding of the text as a whole, I firstly try to present the meaning of particular chapters. The Interior Castle leads from incorrect/false understanding (of one's self, reality and God) to the right or true one. This true understanding is made possible by reaching the mystical marriage between God and man based on full and conscious living of their mutual, intersubjective relationship. The reaching of mystical intersubjectivity provides the possibility of transgressing from knowing the reality as it appears to be to knowing the reality as it is. Teresa of Avila and Augustinus: God inside

This thesis deals with the topic of God's presence in human's soul in the work of St. Teresa of Avila taking into account the same idea in St. Augustine's work. It situates the author in the context of social changes in the 16th century and then in the literary context. The latter is studied firstly from a diachronic point of view, as a tradition of mystic literature to which both Augustine and Teresa pertain, subsequently from the synchronic point of view, i.e. the Spanish mystic literature of the Golden Age. Also, it depicts the family environment of St. Teresa that led her to the spiritual literature and the chivalric romances, her entering in a monastery and the "second conversion", related to Augustine's Confessions. Afterwards, Teresa's production is described and especially her social position which required obedience towards authorities but also it allowed to share her opinions and enjoy her writing. It is of special interest that Teresa could reach the work of Augustine, originally written in Latin. Therefore, first her reading is presented as an aggregate including both spiritual and chivalric literature, then in particular the production of Augustine, to which Teresa referred only rarely but during the entire creative career. David Peroutka The structure of human being and the possibility of mystical experience. A Thomistic view In the present investigation I try to explicate the Thomistic concept of soul as a principle of psychosomatic unity of man. Among powers or "potencies" of the soul we find "inner senses" which are to be well differentiated from the intellect. Such a distinction allows us to proof the spirituality of human soul and also to explain the possibility and the nature of spiritual and mystical experience. A paradigmatic testimony of such an experience we find in the writings of S. Teresa of Avila. In order to interpret her spiritual texts we need also well understand the distinction between the sensory appetitive powers, i.e. emotive powers, and the spiritual appetitive power, which is the will. Teresa does not lead us from the sphere of intellect to that of emotionality, as commonly seen, rather in the opposite sense: the center of gravity of spiritual life moves from the sphere of imagination and emotionality to that of the intellect and the will. In the contemplative prayer the will is fixed in the mystery of God through mediation of divinely illuminated intellect. And it is the will that engages, finally, also the sensory part of the soul.
