Kopica, Vladimír ; Nováková, Pavlína (advisor) ; Hošková, Blanka (referee)
Title: The effect of sports massage on changes of muscle contraction after applied load Objectives: The aim of this work was to find out the scale of effect of sports massage on speed of muscle contraction of musculus vastus medialis and musculus vastus lateralis after previous exercise in form of squats and forward lunges. Methods: The research was realized in a form of Crossover design experiment and 7 probands took part in the research. Results were obtained by measuring muscle contraction velocity with tensiomyography method in the lab in department of physiology and biochemistry UK FTVS. We measured height and weight of every proband, after that they were randomly assigned either to control group or experimental group. In the control group we measured the speed of muscle contraction, after that the proband went through exercise in form of squats and forward lunges under certified supervision, then they had 5 minutes of passive rest and after the muscle contraction was measured again. The experimental group had a sports massage instead of 5 minutes rest. Results: The average muscle contraction velocity of musculus vastus lateralis of the control group in the second measurement was 25,47 ± 4,22 ms and the average muscle contraction velocity of the experimental group in the second measurement was...
Muscle imbalances in white water canoeing measured by TMG
Hapák, Michal ; Šteffl, Michal (advisor) ; Bílý, Milan (referee)
Title: Muscle imbalances in white water canoeing measured by TMG Aims: The aim of this paper was to select the endangered muscle groups, to identify possible imbalances using tensiomyograph (TMG 100) and to define hypotheses about the influence of training load in water slalom on the development of imbalances in the selected specific muscle groups. Methods: This work has a character of a qualitative research. Specifically, 6 case studies were carried out, appended by control measurements after one year, in which emphasis was placed on the detection of characteristic muscle imbalances that could arise as a result of specific training activities in water slalom. To measure these muscle imbalances, we used tensiomyograph (TMG 100). Results: Among the measured participants, we found that during a one-year training cycle, significant changes in the functionality of individual muscle groups have occurred. The most endangered groups, ie the groups with the most significant changes, included BB, DEL, LD and TRM. There have been also notable changes in the functional symmetry of the elbow joint, where 4 out of 5 participants have deteriorated during the year. It was also found, that women might be more prone to imbalances as an effect of the specific activity compared to men. Key words: white water...
Effects of a foam roller during stretching
Pětíková, Nikola ; Šteffl, Michal (advisor) ; Malý, Petr (referee)
Title: Effects of a foam roller during stretching Aims: The main aim of the thesis was to compare effects between the foam roller and stretching exercises. Methods: 10 female students aged 23-24 from UK FTVS participated in this study. All the participants were active athletes. The study was realized as a cross-over trial. There was used tensiomyography using the TMG 100 to measure all the participants. The musculus vastus lateralis were tested in both sides. A generalized linear model was used to evaluate the results. Results: The foam rolling tended to better activate muscle before training and statistically significantly accelerated post-load recovery processes compared to normal stretching. Conclusions: The foam roller could be used effectively after sports performance as a tool to accelerate regeneration, thereby enhancing sports performance. Muscle imbalances in pole vault athletes measured by TMG
Suchelová, Nikola ; Šteffl, Michal (advisor) ; Vindušková, Jitka (referee)
Title: Muscle imbalances in pole vault athletes measured by TMG. Goal: The goal of this work was to choose endangered muscle groups and identify possible imbalances by using Tensiomyography machine (TMG 100) and define hypothesis about training pressure of pole vault on growth of muscle imbalances in selected muscle groups. Methods: This work is based on qualitative research. Specifically, six case studies were conducted, during which the importance was placed on discovering characteristic muscle imbalances, which could appear based on training pressure in pole vault. Tensiomyography machine (TMG 100) was used to measure muscle imbalances. Results: Six pole vaulters participated in this study. We found that training and competitive load of pole vault could create muscle asymmetry in muscles deltoideus anterior and trapezius superior. The training may influence also slows down contractions of biceps brachii muscle and another asymmetry on deltoideus anterior between both muscles. We found very low functional symmetry in elbow joint. Key Words: pole vault, athletics, muscle imbalances, TMG
Speed and quality of muscle contraction in acrobatic rock and roll dancers
Palivcová, Nikola ; Kolbová, Kateřina (advisor) ; Černá, Jana (referee)
Title: Speed and Quality of Muscle Contraction of Acrobatic Rock and Roll Dancers Objectives: The aim of this thesis is to diagnose the speed and quality of the muscular contraction of the lower limbs in acrobatic Rock and Roll dancers based on measurements on the tensiomyofraph. A partial goal is to describe the method and course of measurement, including the interpretation of results and subsequent training recommendations. The research question is: "How does acrobatic Rock and Roll affect the development of muscle imbalance in the lower limbs in dancers couples?" Methods: The method of qualitative research is used for the work using a case study on five probands. Measurement on the TMG 100 has the task of detecting muscle imbalance caused by training load. Results: Based on the measurements results of the individual report generated by the TMG 100, the results are interpreted and the research question is answered: "Acrobatic Rock and Roll causes muscular imbalances in the lower limbs caused by unilateral strain on couple dancers with difference in the gender of the individuals." Keywords: acrobatic Rock and Roll, muscular imbalance, muscle, tensiomyography, TMG
Diagnostics of the asymmetries of the deltoid muscles of table tennis players by using tensiomyography
Šablatúra, Michal ; Šteffl, Michal (advisor) ; Kočíb, Tomáš (referee)
Title: Diagnostics of the asymmetries of the deltoid muscles of table tennis players by using tensiomyography. Objectives: The aim of this bachelor thesis was to define the hypothesis about the impact of table tennis on the musculoskeletal apparatus, to determine muscle dysbalance and select suitable exercises for improvement. Methods: This is a case study. The research is done qualitatively by mapping a small number of probands. Six selected individuals were measured, the results were analysed and according to this the recommendations were made. The tensiomyograph TMG 100 was used to diagnose muscular asymmetries in the deltoid muscle. Results: From the measurements of six probands was found that the greatest asymmetry was in the lateral part of the deltoid muscle. Because of the greater flaccidity of a non-playing arm, four probands were recommended to do strengthening exercises and three probands were recommended to do activation exercises on their non- playing arm. At the front of the deltoid muscle, two probands had a shortened muscles on a playing arm and a flapless non-playing arm, so they were recommended to perform strengthening exercises on non-playing arm and stretching exercises on the playing arm. At the back of the deltoid muscle, the players had different results in muscle imbalance,...
The impact of tennis on the musculoskeletal system
Sitařová, Klára ; Šteffl, Michal (advisor) ; Kočíb, Tomáš (referee)
Name: The impact of tennis on the musculoskeletal system Context: Due to the characteristics of tennis as a unilateral loading of the musculoskeletal system, it is likely that numerous muscle imbalances appear. Aim: The aim of my bachelor thesis was to determine the impact of tennis on the musculoskeletal system. Due to the characteristics and style of tennis and therefore the unilateral loading of the locomotive apparatus my thesis was primarily based on muscular dysbalance which I detected by the TMG measuring device. Methods of the research: This bachelor thesis was implemented as a qualitative research in the form of six case studies. The tensiomyograf TMG 100 was used to diagnose muscle imbalance in the selected muscle groups. Results: In five participants out of the total of six there was a shortening of the muscle biceps brachii on the dominant side and a slackening of the muscle biceps brachii on the contralateral side. Moreover in five of the six participants there was a slackening found in the muscle deltoideus anterior and in all six of the participants there was a slackening found in the muscle deltoideus posterior on the dominant side, and in five out of six participants there was a shortening detected in the muscle deltoideus anterior on the contralateral side, and in all the six...
