Link layer LAN network security

The bachelor‘s thesis is about security concerning local area networks of the data link layer. The goal of the thesis is to characterize basic functioning of the ISO/OSI reference model as well as describing how the data link layer works to understand the topic, specify the possibilities of attacking the data link layer (for example rogue DHCP server, ARP spoofing, CAM table overflow, attacking the spanning tree protocol and others) and possible security measures to protect against the attacks. The purpose of the thesis is also a suggestion for assembling an experimental network relating to the topic of the thesis. Theoretical part determines the most important protocols of the data link layer, methods of abusing them and protection of those protocols. The practical part contains a brief description of the attacks, used utilities for accomplishing the attacks, a network topology, execution of the attacks, detection and protection against the attacks as well as briefly summarizing the results. The thesis also sums up some of the possible recommended configuration to repel the attacks and suggesting how to behave in a cyber environment. For the purpose of simulating the attacks, Kali Linux and Windows 10 are the operating systems that were used the most in this thesis.

This bachelor thesis deals with techniques for designing data networks. They described a group of protocols STP and virtual networks VLAN that are still getting a lot of use. They are further described advanced techniques for the design of data networking protocols such as PB, PBB and SPB. Conclusion of work is a laboratory exercise dealing with the VLAN and QinQ.

Enterprise Network Design and Simulation - Cisco Virtual Lab

Tématem této diplomové práce (dále jen DP) je návrh rozsáhlých podnikových sítí podle doporučení stanovených společností Cisco. Dále je realizována simulace navržené topologie prostřednictvím programů s otevřeným zdrojovým kódem a dohled nad sítí prostřednictvím programu Nagios. Úvodní část obsahuje stručné seznámení se základním rozdělením sítě do jednotlivých funkčních bloků. Druhá část se zabývá popisem jednotlivých funkčních bloků a jejich rolí v rámci celé síťové topologie. Bloky jsou dále rozděleny na jednotlivá zařízení a jsou popsány služby, které tato zařízení musí poskytovat. Třetí část DP se snaží zmapovat základní požadavky na služby, které jsou kladeny na dnešní síťové infrastruktury. Hlavní důraz je kladen na dostupnost všech nabízených služeb sítě. Jsou vyjmenovány jednotlivé protokoly druhé až třetí vrstvy OSI modelu, které zabezpečují stálou dostupnost sítě v případě selhání aktivních prvků. Čtvrtá část DP se věnuje popisu návrhu síťové topologie WAN. Pátá část obsahuje popis bezpečnostních rizik, která ohrožují dostupnost sítě, tak i popis útoků, které mají za cíl krádež identity uživatele. V šesté části DP jsou popsány programové nástroje pro zprávu sítí (Nagios, Cisco Security Device Manager) a programy, které simulují Cisco přepínače, směrovače (Dynamips & Dynagen, GNS3) a Cisco PIX firewall (PEMU). Sedmá kapitola se zabývá konkrétním návrhem rozsáhlé sítě s použitím principů, které byly zmíněny v předcházejících kapitolách. Navržená infrastruktura je dále realizována pomocí simulačních programů a tato virtuální síť dovoluje demonstrovat nastavení a chování všech popsaných protokolů a zařízení. V závěrečném shrnutí je nejdůležitější poznatek, že návrh a konfigurace rozsáhlé sítě a její realizace ve virtuálním prostředí je funkční a použitelná pro pokusné účely i pro studijní účely.

Modeling and Simulation of Spanning-Tree Protocol

This term project deals with the functionality of Spanning Tree protocols, especially the Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol, and the Multiple Spanning Tree Protocol. The primary usage of spanning tree protocols is the prevention of loops within the data link layer, the prevention of a broadcast storm, and also dealing with redundancy in the network. Moreover, the project contains the description of configuration of these protocols on Cisco devices. The main goal of this thesis is to implement the Multiple Spanning Tree protocol into INET framework within the OMNeT++ simulation system. Then, the implemented solution is tested and it's functionality is compared with the referential behavior in a Cisco network.

STP solver for OpenSMT

The Simple Temporal Problem is one of the fundamental scheduling problems. In the context of formal verification, it is closely related to SMT, where we can encounter it while solving the theory of difference logic. In this work we create a solver for difference logic as a part of the OpenSMT solver. We look at existing approaches and evaluate their applicability to OpenSMT. Then we analyze an algorithm based on exhaustive theory propagation and use it to create an efficient implementation of the solver. This implementation is tested and compared to other current SMT solvers, proving its comparable efficiency. 1

A marketing strategy proposal based on theoretical knowledge, analysis of the company’s current condition and questionnaire survey is introduced. This proposal should lead to strengthening our position on domestic market, gaining new market outlet and as a result of this to higher sales and profits.

For my paper I have chosen project of a wireless network, which will be actually applied at SOS Podyji. In my paper I will deal with selection of a suitable concept of the wireless network and the functional use of the concept. In a theoretical part of my paper I will engage in wireless networks in general and in security of wireless networks. In a practical part of my paper I will select the most convenient solution, combining the chosen concept, security features and networking devices. I will select the networking devices with regard to their price.
