Náhrady škod způsobené zvláště chráněnými druhy zvířat

A large number of specially protected species of animals live in our region. The protection of these species is in the public interest. Farm animals are also an integral part of the food composition of some of the specially protected species. This ba-chelor's thesis deals with the issue of compensation for damages caused by specially protected species of animals, such as the lynx and the common wolf, to farm anima-ls. From all the sources of information that became the basis for this work, it is clear that there is a gradual decrease in the damage caused by specially protected species of animals to farm animals in the area of interest (Pilsen region), which may be caused by the gradual adaptation of farm owners to the presence of these beasts and by ap-plying some of the preventative measures in their farms.
Physical-geographical analysis of the distribution of lynx in the Bohemian Forest

Natural landscape has been changed and forest habitats have been fragmented as a result of human activity. Consequently a decay of forest species has been registered and Eurasian lynx belongs to these threatened species. This wild beast had been exterminated in past in Czech Republic. The Czech and German parts of Šumava Mountains belong to the most forested areas in Europe and therefore they represent convenient areas for a steady occurrence of the mammals which need large areas for their existence. That is why the population of this wild beast was re-established through the use of 24 re-introducted specimen in Šumava Mountains during the 1980s. At present Šumava Mountains represent one of the main central areas of steady occurrence of eurasian lynx in Czech Republic. On the basis of radiotelemetric data coming from 10 individuals of Eurasian lynx (6 males and 4 females) the spatial requirements of this wild beast have been analysed by means of the three following methods: Minimum Convex Polygon, Kernel Home Range and Local Convex Hull. Also the impacts of human activities and relief character have been discussed together with the preference of the provincial cover. Conservation genetics of Eurasian lynx in the Western Carpathians

Robust monitoring combined with genetic analyses are important approaches to protect and manage large carnivore populations successfully. The aim of this master thesis is to analyse Eurasian lynx (Lynx lynx) population within whole Slovakia for the first time using 15 microsatellite loci. Noninvasive genetics is an effective tool for monitoring animal species with large home ranges and low population densities. Noninvasive samples including feces, hair, urine and buccal swabs were collected together with tissue samples from dead (mostly roadkill) individuals. 187 samples were collected between 2017-2019, resulting in 59 successful genotypes. Two samples were incorrectly determined in the field and excluded from further analyses since they were wildcat samples. For population genetics analyses and demography, the dataset from the "Veľké šelmy 2" project was extended with 98 genotypes in collaboration with the Institute of Vertebrate Biology CAS. Overall, 68 lynx individuals were detected in the dataset of 155 genotypes. Relatedness analysis resulted in 67 significant relationships of the first degree and 9 significant relationships of the second degree. Výskyt velkých šelem ve vybraných oblastech moravských a slovenských Západních Karpat

The research The occurance of large carnivores in areas of Moravian and Slovak Western Carpathians focused on field study of carnivores European brown bear Ursus arctos, gray wolf Canis lupus and Eurasian lynx Lynx lynx in Velká and Malá Fatra (Slovakia). The study was held from August 2014 till February 2016. During 23 field control were identified 12 presence traits or evidences from all three species. Apparently, there are 10 individuals of wolf, 73 bears and probably 13 individuals of lynx in Velká Fatra. Between 5 and 8 wolfs, 8 individuals of lynx and probably 65 bears in Malá Fatra.
Population viability analysis of endangered species in Czech Republic

Diploma thesis analyzes the viability of the selected species populations in the Czech Republic. The thesis is divided into two main parts. The first part contains a stochastic model simulating possible scenarios of the Eurasian lynx population size in the Czech Republic. For this model program Vortex was used. The second part is focused on Time series analysis of the Grey Partridge and the Common Kingfisher population, where data was obtained from the Czech Society for Ornithology. This analysis aims on identification of factors that may affect the viability of the two bird species.
Geographical analysis of distribution of large carnivores in the moravian Carpathians - applications for environmental education

Large carnivores are the most important bio-indicators. Their current distribution is connected to large complexes of mountain forests with low-intensity anthropogenic interference. In the Czech Republic, the Moravian Carpathians are presently home to large carnivores such Lynx lynx, Canis lupus and Ursus arctos. This region is also significant in that it connects regions of current large carnivore populations with regions suitable for potential population expansion. Geographical analysis of the distribution of large carnivores in the Moravian Carpathians revealed a positive correlation between carnivores and the mountain forest near the border of Slovakia. Studies for predilection for land cover and geographical relief as well as the influence of human activity were carried out. It was found that Lynx lynx, Canis lupus and Ursus arctos preferred a region with a low human population density and minimal roads. Future spread depends on the conservation of landscape permeability between areas. This work concentrates mainly on the problem of landscape fragmentation, and how spatial and line barriers can cause the loss of biodiversity.
