The main objective of this bachelor thesis is to analyze the business environment of the company Topaz and to design a BI solution prototype based on this analysis and requirements of company. The solution will be used in subsequent support for the managerial decisions of the business owner. The necessary condition for fulfilling the objective of this thesis was the access to the in-formation system of the company and to the data that were used as a basis for the analysis and design of the Business Intelligence solution. Access to the IS and its data has been granted by the owner of the company Topaz. The work is divided into theoretical part, which describes the basic characteristics of BI, or the Self-Service BI respectively, and to the practical part, where the running of the company is described with an emphasis on the support of an established information system. Then, an initial study is conducted, including requirements, with which the dimensional model is made. Finally, samples of the respective reports are presented.

This thesis addresses current topic of self-service business intelligence solutions. The main goal is to create a dimensional model and pilot applications for retail used for Management of Business Informatics (MBI). In order to achieve it is main goal there are four steps, to be taken. During fulfilling of these steps minor and practical goals are achieved as well. Practical goal is to create reports and dashboards for Management of Business Informatics (MBI). The first step is to introduce the issue of classic and self-service BI concluded by comparison of both variants. The second step is the definition of retail and identification of potential indicators. The third step is the introduction of Mi-crosoft´s self-service BI technologies and tools. The fourth step is to create applications for retail in MBI using tools PowerPivot and Power View. The main contribution of this work is to create reports and dashboards that are able to support processes of general retail mod-el. Reports and dashboards will serve as pilot applications for MBI. Another contribution is to acquaint readers with the possibilities of tools PowerPivot and Power View.
Dashboards - their analysis and implementation by using PowerPivot
Křemenák, Jakub ; Pour, Jan (advisor) ; Pražský, Petr (referee)
The main goal of this diploma thesis, which focuses on analysis and implementation of dashboards, is to build a task describing the process of creating a business dashboard. Partial goals of work are identification of benefits after successful dashboard implementation, identification of typical dashboard user and a discovery of possible creation inefficiency causes while creating dashboards. Next fundamental goal is also to extend the referential model of Management of Business Informatics (MBI), to which also responds the structure of this diploma thesis. Defined goals of this thesis are reached by using the combination of a theoretical principles orient to mostly abroad specialist literature and practical experiences. This thesis is structured to three parts. The first is defined the term dashboard, and also his historical connections, positive effects resulting his success implementation and a fully relation to the management of business efficiency. The second part deals with three categories of dashboards structured by their utilizing. There is a description of summary definition, effect and advantages resulting successful implementation and possible problems related with their realisation, by every category. The third part contained the task Creating of a dashboard. This task is created a set of relatively linked steps, which is necessary to follow for successful creating of a dashboard. Each of these steps contains a practical example for increasing of its objectivity. As a component of this part is used an application of MS PowerPivot.

Využití moderní self-service BI technologie v praxi
Buyankhishig, Agiimaa ; Pour, Jan (advisor) ; Zajíc, Ján (referee)
Abstract This diploma thesis treats about the latest technologies in the field of self-service BI from Microsoft Corporation. The main goal of this work is to analyze the Microsoft self-service BI solutions, to describe the benefits and advantages of this technology and to show examples with real data in Microsoft self-services BI tools. To achieve the goal, the internet resources, recommended literature, and the software applications PowerPivot and PowerView (Excel 2013) are59 used. In its first part this thesis describes the basic characteristics and technology of classical BI solutions. The second part examines the actual self-service BI solution and its usability. And then analyzes the advantages and benefits compared to conventional technologies. Finally, in its last section describes self-service BI solutions, the DAX language used in PowerPivot and shows example reports with real data from banking sector. The key benefit of this diploma is the verification of the usability and advantages of self-service BI by using Microsoft self-service BI products and tools.
Self service BI in the marketing department of a telecommunications company
Prchal, Tomáš ; Pour, Jan (advisor) ; Stecenková, Marina (referee)
This bachelor thesis describe ways of dealing with self-service business intelligence in the marketing department of a telecommunications company. The main objective of this thesis is to introduce technologies for self-service business intelligence, which are part of the program Microsoft Excel 2013 and demonstrate their potential use for the needs of the marketing department. The first part describe the theoretical side of the business intelligence with the division on the classic approach and on self-service. It is later complemented by the introduction of tools for self-service business intelligence contained in Excel. The second part is devoted to practical solutions. Firstly, dimensional model of the available data and secondly, build self-service solutions using the tools in Excel. These are the PowerPivot and Power Query, which is used primarily for the acquisition and management of source data, but also offer a basic visualization. For outputs are then used tools Power View, which allows a clear view of the required information and add-on PowerMaps, which displays the source data on a map. The output is then specific self-service solutions created according to specifications from employees of the marketing department, showing the required information through self- service tools.
Application of dashboards in the area of support of IT management
Sakař, Václav ; Pour, Jan (advisor) ; Šedivá, Zuzana (referee)
This diploma thesis is focused on the issue of IT management in the companies, which is described in the MBI (Management of Business Informatics) model, at all levels of IT management in the way how they are defined and used by MBI. The main goal of this diploma thesis is design and create (new/modified) content in the area of IT management in the MBI model for broader usage of this model in the company sphere. The main goal is fulfilled by fulfilling of two sub-goals. Firstly, it is designing and creating new metrics, dimensions and applications or modification (extension) of already existing content in MBI model. Secondly, it is implementation of new or (selected) modified content with Microsoft PowerPivot into the form of interactive applications and then into the dashboards composed from them. The structure of this diploma thesis is adjusted to make those sub-goals achievable. The structure is divided into theoretical and practical section containing together six main parts. Firstly, the two most widely used methodologies of IT management and mainly MBI model are described. Then the definitions of metric (as a main instrument, which is used in IT management) and its attributes are described. Following section contains definition of dashboards and basic description about their designing and creating. In the last part of the theoretical section are described metrics, dimensions, applications and their connections in the MBI model. First part of practical section is about designing and creating of new metrics, dimensions and applications or modifying of already existing content. The last part of this thesis contains implementation of a new or (selected) modified content into applications or dashboards. Main benefit of this diploma thesis is enrichment of existing content in the MBI model in IT management (specifically in the metrics, the dimensions, the applications and the dashboards based on those three things), which improved usability of the MBI in practical usage. Thanks to this extended content, the users or mainly the management employees can react in better way on the potential problems, have better overview about level of quality of the IT resources, can manage the employees in better way and can coordinate quality and quantity of the IT outputs in better way in general.
