The German minority and the Prague Spring 1968

The proposed thesis The German Minority and Prague Spring 1968 focuses on changes in the life of the German population in the territory of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic at the turn of the 1960s and 1970s. The thesis deals with an influence of reviving process of the Prague Spring on the progress of status of the German minority in the Czechoslovakia, which was marginalized by that time. The author presented a detailed analysis of those events of year 1968, which related to the national minorities policy and led to reception of the constitutional law Nr. 144/1968 Sb., about the status of the national groups in the state. The law acknowledges, for the first time in the post-war history, the same rights for the German minority such as for the other national minorities living in the territory of the Czechoslovakia. The author studies activation of the members of the German minority for the purpose of formation of the cultural association. That was enabled just on the ground of the aforesaid constitutional law. The cultural association was founded and incorporated, among the other social organisations, into the National Front in spring 1969. The Anlaysis of the Election Campaign of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia in 1946 Elections

The thesis deals with the election campaign in the elections to the National Assembly, namely the campaign of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia. In this example, we can clearly see how strongly campaign can impress and what influence the voter's final decision has. After the World War II, the position of the Communist Party was determined by its attitude towards the Munich events in 1938 and its activities during the Second World War - the Communist Party was undeniably a significant part of the Czechoslovak resistance and by the post- war political system. Compared to the other parties allowed after the Second World War, it had the potential to become the main political force in the country. It was through this effective propaganda that it could use this position and lead the party to victory in the elections in 1946. The art of promoting communist ideology as an ideal choice for most Czechoslovak citizens is a key reason for the success of this party. The elections in 1946 were the first after World War II, and therefore a key to the country's further direction. The Communists were well aware of this importance, and it was reflected in their thorough preparation. French National Front Network

The aim of this diploma thesis is to analyze the Network of the French National Front and grasp the environment in which the party lives. The network of this French political party is represented by organizations of various types and is expanded through party press. The work examines how the party's associates influence activity within the political party and whether they are beneficiaries of the parties success and its continual development. At first there is the definition of the far right which is complemented by the historical evolution of the term. Following this is a description of far-right groups influencing the emergence of the National Front in 1972. These groups can be observed with some similarities in the organizational structure of the groups within the National front. Therefore it is important to describe the current organizational structure of the party so it can be understood how the party is presently managed. Every political party needs enough qualified people to effectively function, in this chapter the process for recruiting new members and their training is explored. Czechoslovak embassy in Moscow in the years 1945-1948

1 Abstract Adamů Miloš: Czechoslovak Embassy in Moscow in the years 1945-1948 Praha: The Faculty of Arts of Charles University in Prague, 2011 188 s., The diploma thesis. The thesis monitors and evaluates the activities of the Czechoslovak Embassy in Moscow in the critical post-war years 1945-1948. It attempts to process the structure of the diplomatic and partly personnel corps, including changes that gradually occurred in the office. The task of the thesis is also monitoring the influence of inland events on the running of the embassy and its important leaders in those four years. The thesis largely follows the events of February 1948, which meant milestone situations for the Czechoslovak Embassy's activities and significantly influenced the lives of most of its employees. The ambassadors take the important place and they are given a high attention. The thesis also notes the fates of the selected persons in 1948. Media reflexion of national parties discourse about immigrants: Comparative analysis of Czech and French daily newspaper

The diploma thesis Media reflection of the discourse of nationalist parties about immigrants: comparative analysis of the Czech and French daily newspapers investigates the manner in which Czech and French media reflect the speech of the Czech political party Svoboda a přímá demokracie (SPD) and the French political party National Front (FN) about immigrants. The aim of the present study is to examine how much space the Czech and French daily newspapers provide to the anti-immigrant discourse of these two parties. We also look into the context in which the representatives of these political formations speak about migrants and consider the labels they use to describe them. The method used in this research is a quantitative content analysis. By its means we analysed the articles published throughout the years 2015 and 2016 in the Czech daily newspapers as well as in the French daily Le Figaro. The study focused mainly on those parts (quotations) of the articles, where the politicians or the representatives of SPD or FN speak about migrants. The results show that analysed Czech and French newspapers provide rather little space in their articles for the discourse of SPD and FN representatives about immigrants. The District Action Committee of the National Front in Ostrava and Its Activities in the First Months after February 1948

This bachelor's thesis deals with circumstances around the emergence of the District Action Committee of the National Front in Ostrava in February 1948 and its functioning in the first months after the Czechoslovakian Communist Party takeover. After brief information on the origin of Action Committees generally, their types and their agenda and analysis of then current legislation that gradually reflected their activities, the attention is paid to specific circumstances and events in the Ostrava District. The setup of District Action Committee is described along with its structure and agenda that was followed. The thesis also deals with activity of certain commissions of the District Action Committee, with main focus on the Sokol commission that has been best documented. The thesis also briefly mentions the role of the District Action Committee in suppression and distraction of political opposition of non- communist parties. With respect to the fact that these particular topics, with a few exceptions, have not been addressed in complex and in more details in literature, the thesis is mostly based on the primary research of archive sources identified in the funds of the Municipal Archive of Ostrava. Right-wing and left-wing populism in the 2017 French presidential election

The rise of populism is one of the most significant political phenomena of the last decade. Although populism has been studied from various perspectives, especially in recent years, there is still number of unresolved issues related to the phenomenon. One of them is a question of the relation between right-wing and left-wing populist policies. In this context, the thesis deals with the case of the 2017 French presidential election. In this vote, both right- wing populist Marine Le Pen and left-wing populist Jean-Luc Mélenchon achieved extraordinary political success. The thesis examines policy content of the selected thematic areas that the candidates were focusing on during the election campaign. It specifically examines electoral programs and media statements of the candidates as the sources of their policies. The thesis provides an analysis of the policy content of individual candidates, as well as a comparison of the policies in the selected thematic areas. Its main output is a description of the common and different features of the pre-election promises of the two selected populist politicians.

Comparison of chosen populist parties in France, Germany and the Netherlands in relationship to the European integration.

This bachelor thesis focuses on cooperation of chosen populist parties in France, Germany and the Netherlands in relationship to the European Union and European integration. The first chapter defines and characterizes the term "populism". This chapter also focuses on populism in the European Union and European integration - it describes what topics are current and important for populist parties. The second chapter describes the chosen parties (National Front, Alternative for Germany and Party for Freedom) and their current election programs, which they used for the elections in 2017 and relatively success for these parties. The analysis of these election programs targets the areas regarding European Union and European integration. The last chapter analyzes these programs and also compares the approaches of the selected political entities among themselves. Based on this comparison a table is created from which the result of this work is apparent.
