Fiedler, Jan ; Stauber, Jakub (advisor) ; Brunclík, Miloš (referee)
The Master's thesis examines the phenomenon of electronic elections in the definition of an alternative method of remote voting via the Internet and combines the approach of a survey paper and a case study. The theoretical basis of the thesis is a description of the concept of e- democracy, postal voting and electronic elections, a definition of the typology of this alternative method and the accentuated risks, a summary of the general development of the debate in the Czech environment and an analysis of the process of the initial phase of implementation of electronic elections in the electoral systems of Estonia, Norway and Switzerland. The theoretical background is followed by an analytical section on these selected countries, which examines the characteristics of case-by-case approaches to the implementation and risks of e- elections and the potential impacts on selected indicators such as voter turnout and global state of democracy indices. The analysis of the aspects is conducted in a consecutive and separate categorical framework, whereby the issues are viewed from the specific perspectives of the countries in question, taking into account the differences in political systems. Final implications and conclusions are drawn in the context of a higher level of relevance based on a comparison of...

RAUL BERTOLDINI MASTER'S THESIS ABSTRACT 08/2023 NORTHERN EUROPE AND THE LOOMING RUSSIA: IS EUROPE (NOT) ENOUGH? Different approaches to a European integrated defence: the cases of Norway and Finland This master's thesis investigates Finland and Norway's geopolitical landscape and security strategies amid Europe's evolving security environment. The research scrutinises how these Nordic nations have managed their relations with the European Union (EU), North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), and Russia, set against the backdrop of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and escalating tensions in the Arctic region. An in-depth analysis of historical contexts, paths to EU membership, and debates on NATO affiliation underscore the intricate balance these countries maintain in preserving their unique national identities and sovereignty while engaging with regional structures and alliances for security. The study illustrates how the Ukraine conflict prompted strategic realignments, with both Finland and Norway opting for closer ties with the EU and NATO to protect their sovereignty, yet they perceive the security guarantees offered by these two organisations differently. Ultimately, the thesis offers valuable insights into the adaptive and proactive strategies these countries employ in response to current...

The thesis is trying to find key factors of Norway's oil and gas management success, and also to point out, whether these factors were absent in the case of Azerbaijan. The thesis is focused on the amount of oil and gas related revenues, and its influence on developement of democracy in observed countries. Finally, the thesis responds to following questions: Is the quality of democracy influenced by the amount of revenues from oil and gas? In what way did the revenues allocated from the mineral resources extraction helped to preserve the current regimes? Does Norwegian model provide guidance for avoiding the symptoms of the Resource curse?

Musilová, Kristýna ; Bahenský, Vojtěch (advisor) ; Ditrych, Ondřej (referee)
This thesis aims to present policy recommendations in the area of public-private cooperation to counter hybrid interference, especially cyber threats. Research of this kind is unique in Czech academia. There has not been a single published paper that would comprehensively tackle the issue of public-private cooperation as a tool to achieve societal resilience towards hybrid threats. The first part of the research is focused on the Norwegian cooperation model and identifies tools and mechanisms thanks to which was societal resilience-building successful. The second part of the thesis analyses the current situation in the Czech Republic and attempts to identify shortcomings in hybrid threat resilience. The core of the research consists of eighteen semi-structured interviews with the representatives of the Norwegian and Czech public and private sectors. The result is policy recommendations for the Czech government based on an open-source data analysis supplemented by information from the interviews. These recommendations specify applying Norwegian collaboration tools between the public and private sectors. The key suggestions are the implementation of the "system of POCs", preparation of crisis scenarios, which is to a certain extent follow-up of the so-called "standard operating procedures" prepared...
