SEFO Olomouc
Abrhámová, Tereza ; Kotek, arch Jakub (referee) ; Dulenčín, Juraj (advisor)
The topic of my master’s thesis was to create an architectural study of Central European Forum in Olomouc. The Forum will be housed in refurbished premises of the Museum of Modern Art on Denisova Street and a new building erected on the neighbouring vacant lot, which was created when five historical burgher houses were demolished in 1969.The forum will be focused on collecting, exhibiting and publishing activities regarding various representations of Central European art, with special attention paid to modern and contemporary art. ‘Forum’ is much wider term than, for instance, ‘museum’ or ‘gallery’ – apart from its essential activities, various discussions, lectures, symposiums, and other events will also be organised. Proposed area is located in the heart of Olomouc city, directly in its conservation area and therefore it was crucial to take into consideration the existing historical development in neighbourhood. Main volume of the proposed building connects with building of the existing museum. Gradation of the other volumes based on the sloped terrain configuration lead to a sensitive completion of the vacant gap site and the existing historical surroundings remained preserved. construction of the new building of Central European Forum came to creation of new exhibition and assembly spaces, depositories, studios as well as technical facilities, changing rooms and sanitary facilities for museum crew.

Šrubařová, Adéla ; Janištinová, Anna (advisor) ; Prokůpek, Marek (referee)
The Bachelor´s thesis is focused on digitization in museums of art in connection with a museum visitor. The first of three aims is to explain how the relationship between the museum and the visitor has changed and what changes have been made in the art museum activities due to the influence of modern technologies and the Internet. The second aim is to provide a comprehensive view of the digitization of museum collections, to specify the determinants of a successful digitization project, and to identify the problems that may arise during the digitization process. The third aim is to compare Czech and British approaches in selected areas and to outline possible improvements for future developments. The theoretical part focuses mainly on the development of museums, museum visitors, the experience of museum visits and museum presentation. The analytical part deals with the area of digitization, the digitization project and the problems that may appear during the process. The issue of copyright law, which is closely related to digitization, is also emphasized. In conclusion, a comparison of the Czech and British approaches to digitization and related activities is provided.
From the public art museum to a small non-commercial gallery
Kučera, Jakub ; Alt, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Stejskalová, Lucie (referee)
This diploma thesis focuses on the topic of the gradual development of European art exhibition institutions whose modern stage dates to the early 19th Century and continues to the present. The characterization of the beginning of this modern phase is generally associated with the commencement of establishing first public art museums. The thesis will outset from this period in art history and focus on the linear evolution of art exhibition institutions to its present form. The thesis comments on an institutional change of exhibition space which is not perceived as a separate and socially independent process. On the contrary the work puts this gradual transformation into social, political and cultural contexts. Through the topic of modern institutional criticism the thesis moves to address contemporary European trends which severely affect the very specific environment of Czech exhibition institutions. The primary institutional structure, which was formed by the public demand and national unification, is here put into context of the current Czech situation which in response to the current official art institutions reacts by establishing small galleries which operate on a community basis.
