Street Harassment of Non-Heterosexual Women

This constructivist diploma thesis focuses on the problem called street harassment, specifically in the context of non-heterosexual women, and its analysis through the intersection of gender and sexuality in the heteronormative society. The theoretic part explains the basic terminology such as heteronormativity, homonegativity and misogyny which is used for presenting the context in which street harassment takes place. The core part of the text is dedicated to the forms of such behaviour, its psychological and social impacts on non-heterosexual women and their lives, their reactions and coping strategies. The empirical part focuses on analogical subtopics but in the concrete context of street harassment of non-heterosexual female couples. Its goal is to describe and accentuate this area which has been marginalized in the Czech as well as foreign academic debate. For these purposes was chosen the qualitative empirical design, specifically eight semi- structured in-depth interviews. The results were analysed by the thematic analysis method because it enables to find the common themes as well as the valuable distinctions in the interviews. League of Legends Player Community Toxicity

This thesis describes the toxic behaviour of League of Legends gaming community. It offers definitions of toxic behaviour as a communication-behavioural phenomenon that results from disruptive behaviour. It also describes types of toxic behaviour such as cheating, sabotage, mediocritizing, hostages-holding, and communicative aggression, on which I focused in this thesis. This thesis takes a closer look at hostility towards female and queer gamers and describes phenomena such as toxic geek masculinity or the incel movement. The main aim is to familiarize the reader with the issue and represent the perspective of the victims of this type of behaviour. The perspective is explored in the thesis through qualitative research in the form of semi-structured interviews. The research sample consisted of six respondents. Three respondents who identify as queer players and three respondents who identify as female. The interviews focused on how they perceive the toxic behaviour of the League of Legends community and how they perceive the game title itself. Amongst other, the analytical part includes the male and female respondents' experiences with hate speech or the strategies they use to cope with this type of toxic behaviour.

Wives and Whores: Female characters in the plays of Harold Pinter

This BA thesis discusses four female characters from three plays of the British dramatist Harold Pinter, placing them in context of depicting 'The Femine.' Pinter's female characters must not only be seen in the tradition of stereotypical depicting women, but also in context of the patriarchal concepts they have to face - the male dominance, male gaze and male bonding. The second chapter provides background for discussing female characters - reasons why to do so are provided and the idea of woman as 'the Other' is introduced. This concept led to the stereotyping of women and subsequently to their misrepresentation in fiction. The basic dichotomy of 'wife/whore' is investigated. The chapter also examines the specifics of representation on the stage with references to the development of drama. It concludes with placing Pinter within this context. The third chapter contains close reading of three Pinter's plays - The Homecoming, Old Times and Betrayal. The roles of female characters are examined in relationship to the power structures they are trying to dismantle. The chapter argues that even if they manage it, the victory does not challenge the patriarchal structure as such. The fourth chapter is focused on realisation of Pinter on Czech stages. Feminicidio as an alarming problem of Mexican society: Process tracing of two selected cases

Gender violence in Mexico is a problem that affects its society on a long- term basis. Its most extreme form known as feminicide, that is a gender- based murder of women, appears with so much frequency that it can be considered a structural problem yet. Mexico is one of the countries with most cases in Latin America, however, insufficient and ineffective measures taken by the state facilitate their perpetration which is often immune from prosecution. This thesis aims to approximate the issue to the reader and explain the concept of feminicide in given context within its complexity. For that purpose, a process tracing analysis of two selected cases is done; starting from their perpetration to their sentencing by judicial instances. The sentences of both cases became very important milestones. The factors that contributed to the outcome are tracked and afterwards a comparison of tracked causal mechanisms is done. As it was already mentioned, the cases were not selected randomly. Not only are they important for their sentences, but moreover they took place in two Mexican states with traditionally high numbers of committed feminicides, that is in Chihuahua and Mexico State.
