Mathematical Skills Applied to Teaching of Geography at High School In the Topic The Earth as a Cosmic Orb

Matýsková, P. (2010): Mathematical skills applied to the teaching of geography at secondary schools in the topic the Earth as a cosmic orb. Department of Social Geography and Regional Development, Charles University in Prague. Submitted diploma thesis deals with interdisciplinary relationships between mathematics and geography at grammar schools in the topic the Earth as a cosmic orb. The relationships are generally described from the point of view of three curriculum forms (intended, implemented and achieved). In the area of the intended curriculum there is an analysis of curriculum documents carried out, especially of the Framework educational programme and of selected school educational programmes. Subsequently, the links between selected secondary school textbooks of geography and mathematics are evaluated on the basis of required curriculum, its quality, intelligibility and occurrence of examples from the practice. The subchapters of the selected unit, in which an application of mathematical skills can be found, are defined in detail and specified on the basis of the carried analysis. Deep, semi-structured interviews were conducted with the teachers at selected grammar schools for the purpose of the study of the implemented curriculum. LEIPERTOVÁ, G. (2010): Mathematical skills applied to teaching of cartography at high school. Department of Social Geography and Regional Development, Charles University in Prague. The present bachelor thesis focuses on application of mathematical skills in the teaching of cartography at high school. It is concerned with the role of and interdisciplinary relations between cartography and mathematics in the curriculum. The content analysis of the chosen textbooks evaluates the relations between cartography and mathematics on the basis of presence of required subject matter, its quality and the amount of practical examples. Furthermore, chapters of geographic and thematic cartography, where mathematical knowledge is applied, are defined and specified in details. The last part of the bachelor thesis deals with cartographic exercises, whose solutions require mathematical skills.

The thesis "Physical measurements and health education" looks at physical quantities that are related to human health and can be measured in a elementary school environment. It focuses especially on the cross-curricular relationship between physics and health education and also on the use of relevant online measurement systems. As part of this thesis, we suggest a number of activities that exploit this relationship.

Concert. Creative project for art education at the primary school.

The thesis follows up processing of art project with topic concert as part of art education at primary school. The overall concept reflected interdisciplinary relations like art education, music and drama. The designed project was realized at one of the primary school in České Budějovice and it is documented in project part of thesis. The theoretical part show relationship between visual art and music in progression of culture. Thesis is developing issue of concert scene in context theatre technology and scenic design. The next part of thesis describe interactions between art education and music in viewpoint curricular documents and it focus on artistic-project methods in art education.

Preconcepts and their importance during physics teaching at basic school

The thesis is outlined to bring to everybody interested in Physics acquired knowledge and conclusions. It is focused on the status of Physics within the educational system at basic school and fundamental physical concepts. These concepts and their preconceptions at primary and upper primary school are in the centre of the author´s attention as well. The submitted thesis follows the relations among other subjects from this point of view and proposes the didactic interpretation of the chosen physical concepts. The work is focused on a didactic test, its administration and evaluation with an accent on changing pupils´ wrong preconceptions. The work is complemented by theoretical facts from secondary literature and my own teaching experiences, as well as several recommendations for the Physics teacher.

The aim of the thesis is to evaluate the state of financial literacy at the Masaryk Business Academy in Rakovnik and make academic recommendations to improve financial literacy education at this school. This thesis consists of two parts. The first part explains the theoretical concepts of financial literacy and assesses the state of financial literacy in the Czech Republic. The second part is about Masaryk Business Academy in Rakovnik. There is general information about the school, teaching financial literacy and the level of comprehension with regard to financial literacy of students at this school. This part also contains suggestions to improve financial literacy at the Masaryk Business Academy in Rakovnik

The title of the diploma thesis is: Multimedia educational programme for teaching of regional geography of America (Caribbean island states) at secondary school". It consists of two parts. The first one consists of an analysis of literature and materials that relates to the topic of the diploma thesis (geography textbook, non-fiction literature and magazines). The second part contains a proposal of multimedia educational material about Caribbean island states for secondary schools. It includes not only an interactive textbook but also a methodical guide with annotations for (to) particular slides and solutions of (to) tasks from the textbook. Everything is created according to Framework educative programme for basic education.

Literature for Children and Young People as an Inspirational Source on Art Lessons

The presented qualifying thesis with the title ?Literature for Children and for Young People as an Inspirational Source on Art Lessons? deals with interdisciplinary relations of two branches of humanities: art and Czech language. Its theoretical part focuses on the characteristic of the middle school pupil from the point of view of psychology as well as from the point of view of reading and artistic skills. Practical part of the thesis includes empirical research examining reading activities and leisure time of present-day young people. The results of the research probe were taken into account in the art project (thematic array) which is partly put into practice in the middle school.

The technical sights of Tábor and its surroundings, aplication in elementary education

My diploma work gives the treatise about technical monuments in region of Tábor. They are presented chronologicaly according to their place of occurrence. They document the technical progress in our region and its influence on the progress of the society, as well as the standart of living in our region. One special chapter of my work contains the presentation of technical monuments for pupils aged 12 - 15. It can be used by teachers as a didactical material for explaining of related matters. It can be applied also in the interdisciplinary teaching or projects. The main objektive of this work is to explain the importance of technology in terms of the region, and to make pupils be proud of their nationality, their region and their country.
