Comparative analysis of pictorial coverage of the olympic games in London 2012 in choses czech printed media and internet media

The thesis "Comparative Analysis of Pictorial coverage of the Olympic games in London 2012 in chosen printed media and internet media" deals with photographs published in MF DNES and on the Aktuálně.cz news server. The main focus is comparison of the photographs in the means of content, quantity and quality and to elucidate function of photo editors in media. In the first part the theoretical background necessary to understand this issue is presented - news values, gatekeeping, photography, photojournalism and mainly sport photography, photojournalism and ethics, difference between print and online media. The second part is the analysis. All the necessary information was gained using three approaches - quantitative content analysis, qualitative pictorial analysis and interviews with professionals. The quantitative analysis determines quantity and content of given photographs. The qualitative analysis refines the information regarding visual quality and content of the images. Interviews with employees of the selected media companies provide answers about choosing and editing the published photographs and explain the role of a gatekeeper. The thesis also verifies hypothesis that "online media prefer speed of publication over quality of photographs while printed newspapers prefer quality".
Peggy Guggenheim in a Cultural-Political Picture of her Time

Peggy Guggenheim belongs to the essential collectible figures of the 20th century art. She has created a unique art collection during her lifetime and she has opened up new artistic movements (in particular Abstract art) by organizing exhibitions, debates and by publishing catalogues in which she participated. She was active in many art projects and she had friendship among many after-war modern artists. Her collection included front works of Cubism, Futurism, Metaphysical art, Abstract art, Surrealism and Avantgard sculpture. Peggy moved to the Venetian palace Venier dei Leoni in 1949, where she was living following thirty years. Today her extensive collection is opened to public under the patronage of Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation. The Diploma thesis "Peggy Guggenheim in a Cultural-Political Picture of her Time" will outline Peggy Guggenheim's life in context of emerging modern art (particularly American art) and her diverse activities which were connected with it. Furthermore it will focus on culture-political context of post-war time and finally it will evaluate her contribution to evolution of abstract art and its approach to the general public.
Management and organisation of public libraries in Great Britain

The aim of this thesis is to describe public librarianship in Great Britain, its organisation and the services. The practice way will be demonstrate on the public libraries in the cities of the four countries of the United Kingdom. The core of the thesis is devided into six main chapters. The brief history of the public librarianship will be introduce in the first chapter with focus on the first public libraries in the UK. The four main chapters analyse organisation and services of the public library networks of the cities - City of London Libraries, Cardiff's Libraries, Edinburgh City Libraries and Belfast NI Libraries. These four chapters describe and analyse organisation, services, equipment, culture events, libraries's PR. At the end of these chapters there are a summaries of the libraries's strenghts and weaknesses. In the last, summary chapter, there is a final analyse of all libraries services and organisation, there is also comparation and at least description how the british public libraries work. Demonstration of this will be shown on the public library network of the cities and on the model of typical british library. At the end there are advices for czech public libraries. Victorian London through the Perspective of Charles Dickens

The aim of the thesis is the initial characteristics of Charles Dickens' personality in the context of Victorian literature focusing later on social matters of the 19th century England and its reflection in the works of the author. The core of the thesis concentrates on Dickens´s description of London in the contrast with rural environment; and prospectively it may generalize Dickens' methods in description of environment and landscape based on the principles of romantic and realistic novels.
Bus Transport in London

This Bachelor's thesis examines regular bus services in London. The theoretical section explains the most important terms related mainly to public transportation, lists various types of routes according to their functions and the most frequently used priority systems favouring public transport vehicles. Among integrated transport system particular attention is paid to the tariff system and check-in system. The aim of the practical part is a comprehensive evaluation of the urban bus services in London, focusing on its current status and on the analysis of projects completed already and on further future development. Bus management system is described as well as bus priority systems and changes in vehicle fleet. Attention is focused among various highlights on the tariff system and on the description and assessment of projects that are related to bus transport. Implemented measures are evaluated according to the development of indicators of reliability.
Model comparison of websites of the Cities. Prague and London

This work deals with the analysis and comparison of sites of Prague and London from the tourist point of view. At the very beginning of the work are selected Prague and London websites for comparison. In theoretical part are determinated conceptions of tourism and websites. In practical part is processed the methodology with criteria of evaluation to compare the two websites and its overall evaluation. To verify the results of the methodology is elaborated user test. The conclusion is the overall evaluation of the methodology and results from the user test. Very end of the work is concluded by a few suggestions for making optimal tourist sites of towns and villages, together with the general procedure making website.
The Comparison of Websites of Selected Worldwide Cties

The main goal of this thesis is to create a methodology for comparison of web pages of worldwide cities and to apply it on the selected websites. Introductory theoretical part describes the history and the present of web pages and shows their categorization, technologies, key statistics and reasons of rising significance of city websites with emphasis on e-Government. The official web pages of London, New York and Sydney are compared. These are modern world-known cities comparable in population, used languages and the overall attractiveness. Methodology of comparison tries to be objective, universal and reusable. It evaluates the websites with a set of criteria divided into 4 domains: graphical design, usability, accessibility and information content. In the end the final ratings are determined as weighted averages of criteria and domains.

The main theme of the work is global analyse and comparison of Prague's and London's websites. At first treats of the Internet, then focus to the specific websites. The text also contains case studies of structure searching. Then the work describes the most important parts of websites, like usability, accessibility, information value and graphic design. After that there is the creation a system of evaluation and it's applied to chosen websites. These results are verified by user test. At the end of the work is final comparison, and few concepts for websites improvement.
