Material Flows and Environmental Impacts of s-WEEE in the Czech Republic

This thesis is a comprehensive study describing and quantifying material flows of waste electric and electronic equipment (WEEE) in the Czech Republic; specifically the material flow of small waste electric and electronic equipment (s-WEEE) as well as representative substances. The studied material flows were estimated regarding aspects of the environmental impact. The End-of-Life mobile phone is seen as a typical representative of s-WEEE ; therefore material flows of mobile phones are described in this thesis as well. To put it in concrete figures, approximately 124 thousand tons of WEEE from households originated in the Czech Republic in 2010, where each inhabitant got rid off 4 pieces of WEEE in average. Further, total production calculating also consumer-like WEEE from companies and institutions was around 141 thousand tons in 2010. S-WEEE present around 15% from the total amount of WEEE originating in 2010; however it is more than 80% as regards the number of pieces. Despite of that fact the recycling potential of Au for instance is slightly higher by s-WEEE than by large WEEE (63kg/year compared to the 59kg/year respectively). Influence of plant protection system on oil rape and greenhouse gases emissions from oil rape growing

The theses serves as a comparison of different ways in the intensity of Brassica napus protection through the vegetational period. There were various protection types evaluated and their harmfulness was specified. Theses confronts the production of greenhouse gases emissions. The result is the surface unit emissive burden assesment and its conversion into the Brassica napus yield unit. These conclusions are based on the practical experiment which was realised in the farm located in Krty-Hradec village.

The aim of this diploma thesis was an evaluation of the environmental aspects of growing of the chosen feeding varieties of a spring barley in various systems of farming. Further purpose of this diploma thesis was a quantification of an emission load bond with the unit of area, and the unit of yield of spring barley, in the scope of conventional and ecological system of farming. The part of this study was a formation of the literature survey about problems of the conventional and ecological growing of the spring barley, with the focus on the agrotechnical requirements and environmental aspects. The practical part was performed in the area of the Faculty of Agriculture in Czech Budejovice.
Case study of physiotherapy treatment of a patient with the diagnosis: the anterior cruciate ligament of the knee joint reconstruction

Title: Case study of physiotherapy treatment of a patient with the diagnosis: the anterior cruciate ligament of the knee joint reconstruction. Objective: Summary of theoretical knowledge and processing of study reports of a patient with the diagnosis: the anterior cruciate ligament of the knee joint reconstruction. Abstract: This thesis consists of two parts. The general section includes anatomical and biomechanical aspects of anterior cruciate ligament, as well as epidemiology, diagnosis, the most common causes and treatment of rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament. The special section includes the case study regarding the physiotherapy treatment of the patient. Therapy was focused mainly on the patient's knee joint stability restoration. The case study was prepared at the time of the author's practice, from 14th February to 2nd March 2011, at the ambulance department of the Regional hospital in Kladno. The Ethics Committee expressed its positive attitude towards the case study. The original version can be found in the Annex, as well as the informed consent template. The influence of energy mix on environmental impacts of waste management

This paper presents energy mix of Czech Republic and its effects on environmental impacts of waste management. Three technologies: landfilling without energy recovery and landfilling and incineration with energy recovery are assessed using LCA. Results for 1 t of mixed municipal waste are compared in 9 impact categories: abiotic depletion, acidification, eutrophication, global warming, ozone layer depletion, photochemical ozone creation, human toxicity, terrestrial ecotoxicity, freshwater ecotoxicity. Landfilling without energy recovery was evaluated as the most harmful technology to the environment, incineration as the most environmentally-friendly one. The use of Czech energy mix made impacts of the energy recovery technologies look lower, contrary to burdens of landfill without energy recovery that resulted higher. The influence of energy mix composition change is discussed further.
The most common knee injury in volleyball

A knee is the most complicated joint in our body. It is commonly injured during volleyball, mainly resulting as a knee pain syndrome or an acute rupture of an anterior cruciate ligament. In its theoretical part this bachelor thesis gives an overview of basic anatomy and biomechanics of the knee joint, it deals with the gender differences in morfology and neurophysiology and it contains a chapter dealing with biomechanics of the knee joint in volleyball. The second part of this bachelor thesis is a research study searching for the most common knee injury in volleyball, comparing differences among men and women and comparing differences between indoor and beach volleyball. The most quoted injury of the knee joint was the injury of the ligament, but as the most serious and the most common injury players named an overuse injury. We didn't manage to compare an incidence in indoor and beach volleyball due to the lack of data. We didn't find a significant difference in the incidence and a character of injuries among men and women.

Ing. Vladimír Kočí, Ph.D. Prague, May 2012 Abstract (English) This bachelor thesis consists of a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of two water treatment plants (WTP) in the Czech Republic. The first WTP is situated in Hrdějovice in South Bohemia and treats underground raw water. The second WTP is in Central Bohemia and treats surface water from the Želivka reservoir. The pumping of raw water and its subsequent treatment were considered for the purposes of LCA; other phases of the life cycle of potable water such as distribution weren't taken into account. Waterworks companies provided data on consumption of energy and materials. Based on this data, the environmental impacts of 1m3 of treated water were calculated and a comparison of the two WTPs within different impact categories was performed. It was found that WTP Hrdějovice has a four-time lower overall environmental impact than WTP Želivka. Postural stability in subjects with anterior cruciate ligament injury

6 Abstract Title: Postural stability in subjects with anterior cruciate ligament injury. Objectives: The aim of this thesis was to find out if the postural stability is differed in subjects with anterior cruciate ligament injury and in the control group after the "4 steps - one leg stance" test had been performed. Methods: This study compared a group with anterior cruciate ligament injury and a control group on the basis of the "4 steps - one leg stance" test. Methods of comparison and analysis were used. Results: The test and all measurements revealed differences in postural stability between subjects with anterior cruciate ligament injury and the control group while they were standing both on operated and non-operated limb. Title: Instrumental Gait Analysis in the ACL Patient Aim: to present an up to date review on the topic of instrumental analysis of straight ahead gait on a plain surface (both over-ground and on a treadmill) in ACL patients (both deficient and reconstructed). A second aim is to introduce the clinician (especially in the field of physiotherapy/rehabilitation) to the topic of gait analysis and its specific use for the ACL patient. Methods: a systematic review on the topic Results The review answers the questions of what instrumentation, phases of gait and variables is best to use/measure for clinical purposes. Ecodesign and its influence on the design of production machines

The bachelor thesis focuses on processing regulatory legislative standards applying to production machines. It provides an overview of tools for assessing the life cycle of products using the methods of eco-design and summarizes the current approach manufacturers of production machinery in improving the energy efficiency of their products. It includes new design and conceptual design of production machinery including new machining technologies. It presents the advantages of virtual prototyping, additive technologies, optimization, toolpath verification and simulation of cutting forces. The result is a comprehensive overview of the factors affecting the eco design of production machines.
