Changes and growth of a small town in time of normalization - the example of Benešov u Prahy
Houzar, Jakub ; Zdichynec, Jan (advisor) ; Najbert, Jaroslav (referee)
The thesis deals with the transformation of Benešov u Prahy from a backward town with nine thousand inhabitants to the centre of Podblanicko area with almost twice as many residents. The change did not come easily. The inhabitants and offices dealt with many problems ranging from inadequate transport and business networks to insufficient capacity in school facilities. Within twenty years (1970s and 1980s), Benešov underwent an immense transformation, which is evident at first sight. Prefabricated housing estates were built on the outskirts of the town and in densely built-up areas that had been redeveloped for building purposes. Not even the monuments escaped this remediation. The present-day appearance of Benešov is largely a reflection of fifteen to twenty years of construction activities in the monitored period. How has Benešov changed over the 20 years of the reporting period? What kind of transformation have all parts of the town undergone (center, peripherals)? Was it possible to offer sufficient capacity (housing, work) to new arrivals and old residents? How did Benešov cope in terms of services (education, transport, apartments, business network) with almost twice the number of inhabitants? How was everyday life in transformed Benešov in this period? This work tries to answer these...

Benešová, Markéta ; Matějček, Tomáš (advisor) ; Cimová, Tereza (referee)
The aim of the diploma thesis is to find out the potential of using the phenomenon of the everydayness in the teaching of regional geography. In the theoretical part, the concept of everydayness is presented from different perspectives, and we further focus on its connection with geography. In the practical part of the diploma thesis, several activities based on the stories of the daily life of the inhabitants of the selected region are put forward and tested in the lesson. The investigation was carried out using qualitative research methods. The source of the data were the notes from the participants' observation conducted during the lesson and the submitted outputs of the students (in the form of worksheets or a short questionnaire). These data were then analyzed, and the results were subjected to a discussion in which they were confronted with the fulfillment of the respective objectives. The conclusion of the thesis contains, among other things, suggestions for further possible geographical research in the field of everydayness. key words: everydayness, regional geography, geography of everyday life, geographic education, qualitative research
The Story of Křemže in the 20th Century
VAČKÁŘ, Matěj
This diploma thesis deals with the history of the small town Křemže in the 20th century. In the introduction part, two chapters are dedicated to methods which are used throughout the work, microhistory and oral history. Then the history of the previous 20th century is presented in the work, but the key part of the work is dedicated to the period of the First World War, the First Republic, the Second World War, 1945-48, everyday life until 1989 and the subsequent nineties of the 20th century. The great history of the 20th century, such as the First and Second World Wars, is interpreted in the work, but everyday life is the key point for the entire 20th century. For Křemže, this history is not anything special, in fact, it only described the national history, but this is also one of the reasons for choosing this topic for the thesis. In the First Republic chapters, there are described joyful moments such as the construction of new buildings but great hardship and poverty as well. During the Second World War, the everyday life of the population who tried to live their lives is shown. However, the work also presents the resistance activity of some inhabitants, as well as the subsequent repression. In the next part, the work deals with everyday life during the era of communist Czechoslovakia and in conclusion there are presented the biggest changes that came to Křemže in the 1990s.
