Image of Elizabeth of Bohemia (1292-1330) in chronicals and prose

The aim of this thesis is to find out image of Elizabeth of Bohemia (1292 - 1330) in chronicals and prose. The first part is about Chronicon aulae regiae and relationship between Petrus Zittaviensis and Elizabeth of Bohemia and effect of this relationship on text of Chronicon aulae regiae. The second part is about prose of the second half of the 20th century and begenning of the 21st centruy. Attention is focussed on the key scenes of the life of Elizabeth of Bohemia, their views by various authors and on the figure of Elizabeth in particular textes, on its development and characteristics. The aim of this part is to show, how is development in imaging of Elizabeth on prose from the second half of the 20th century to begenning of the 21st century.
Incorporation of Luxembourg among the Lands of the Bohemian Crown

The object of this diploma thesis is the incorporation of Luxembourg among the Lands of the Bohemian Crown. This theme was chosen primarily for the reason that it have not been compiled and analyzed by historiography so far. Available literature usually takes the incorporation of Luxembourg in the Bohemian Crown automatically as a fact without further reasoning. As a result of this approach there is considerable amount of inaccuracies and mistakes in literature. Primary inaccuracy is in a date or in a time period determining the incorporation of Luxembourg in the Bohemian Crown, when literature often indicate the reign of King Charles IV or even the reign of King John of Luxembourg. The purpose of this diploma thesis is not only analyzing the process of incorporation, but also disproves continuing inaccuracies. For this reason the diploma thesis draws and analyzes essential facts primarily from original sources and confront them with available literature. First chapter briefly introduces the institution of the Bohemian Crown for her distinguish from the Kingdom of Bohemia. Further it analyzes the terms "crown" and "incorporation". At last it describes a beginning of the Bohemian Crown and analyzes fundamental documents of this institution. Following second chapter describes the personal union...
John of Bohemia and his Connections to Avignon Papacy

(English): The main topic of the study is to gather the evidence of communication between John of Luxembourg and popes of Avignon. The preserved edited material is classified and described on the first place by initiator of the communication, then by content, form or intent of the document. This leads to new definitions of diplomatic categories of the sources. The study is completed by extensive tables containing royal requests with benefactions and names of recipients. At the end, the author develops questions which the material imposes for future studies.

Image of the King of Bohemia John of Luxembourg in the Writings of Guillaume de Mauchaut

This thesis is devoted to Guillaume de Machaut and his writings that depict the poet's views on the ideal monarch, and his memories of John of Luxembourg. In the opening chapters of this thesis the author presents a brief biography of Guillaume de Machaut, his literary work and historical context that influenced the poet's thinking. The thesis also examines Machaut's idea of an ideal ruler, mainly contained in his essay Comfort for a Friend. The last part of this thesis is devoted to John of Luxembourg. The author deals with the reasons that led to the fact that John of Luxembourg became in the Machaut's work the embodiment of the ideal ruler. She also compares the Machaut's representation of the Czech King with predominantly negative perception in Czech chronicles of 14th century. Machaut's testimony of the Czech King helps to understand the John's popularity in Western Europe and the divergence between Czech a French concept of ideal ruler.
Minnesing and court literature at the court of last members of Přemysl's dynasty and the first membe luxembourg's dynasty

Qualifying work has interdisciplinary charakter. This work is concentrate on knowledge of history and culture of age last members of Přemysl´s dynasty and the first members of Luxembourg´s dynasty. The primary aim of work is to identify the conditions under which there is courtly literature and minnesing on the courts of these rulers. Next aim is using the comparative method to define the basic topics in prose and poetry. The secondary aim is recognizing influence of German and Latin literature domestic and foreign on literature written in Czech. The work ?Minnesing and court literature at the court of last members of Přemysl's dynasty and the first members of Luxembourg's dynasty? deals with years 1283?1306 and 1310?1333 taking into account also past years.
