Signal processing in fiber optic sensing systems
Gardáš, Vít ; Sysel, Petr (referee) ; Münster, Petr (advisor)
This master’s thesis is focused on sensory systems and analysis of such signals. In the frst part, a theoretical analysis of each sensory system is conducted. Followingly, appropriate flters were used to process these signals. The last part of this thesis deals with the analysis of measured data.
New types of magnetic sorbents for phosphoprotein analysis
Emmerová, Tereza ; Kučerová, Zdenka (advisor) ; Ryšlavá, Helena (referee)
The method for the study of protein phoshorylation sites was elaborated. This method is based on the IMAC separation of phosphopeptides from protein proteolytic digests using new magnetic sorbents and on their subsequent identification by mass spectrometry (MS). Magnetic non-porous hydrophilic poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate-co-glycidyl methacrylate) particles prepared by the dispersion polymerization and modified with iminodiacetic acid (IDA) with immobilized Fe(III) and Ga(III) ions were employed for the enrichment of phosphopeptides from the proteolytic digests of two model proteins, porcine pepsin A and bovine α-casein. The optimum conditions for phosphopeptide adsorption and desorption in both cases were investigated and compared. The phosphopeptides separated from both proteolytic digests were analyzed by matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight MS. For the immunochemical separation of phosphoproteins, protein fraction containing antibodies was obtained from egg yolk of hens immunized with O-phosphoryl-L-serine conjugated to key limpet hemocyanin. Antibodies were purified using affinity chromatography on immobilized α-casein and their presence was proven by MS. Specificity of the obtained antibodies was examined using ELISA tests. Obtained results showed, that specificity...
The Idafa construction in Arabic and its morphosyntactic behaviour
Pospíšil, Adam ; Křivan, Jan (advisor) ; Zemánek, Petr (referee)
The so called Idafa construction is the central means for coding an attributive relation between two nominal phrases in Arabic. The semantics of the relation is rather vague, but it generally corresponds to a typical cross-linguistic concept of possession. This paper presents an analysis of the way this construction is marked, using the fundamental distinction between dependent-marking and head-marking features, which is outlined in Nichols (1986). It turns out that the traditional label classifying Idafa as a genitive construction can be misleading, since the morphosyntactic role of the genitive ending is rather dubious and it is rather the head-marking features that signal the presence of the relation. However, these features seem a little obscure since they do not dwell in adding a affixu to the head noun, but rather in imposing certain restrictions on the head (only bare heads are allowed and the head is left unspecified for the category of definiteness). In addition, as the analysis is aimed at the natural spoken use of Modern Standard Arabic, I take into account the socio-pragmatic variation presented by the possibility of reducing the nominal endings in speech, approached insightfully in Magidow (2009). These reductions give rise to a slightly different structural view of the morphosyntax of this...

The Muckrakers, selected media cases in the USA in the early 20th century
Linhartová, Barbora ; Cebe, Jan (advisor) ; Sekera, Martin (referee)
This work deals with so called muckrakers at the beginning of 20th century in the USA. Its main aim is to explain what this term means, as well as why it arose, by which circumstances was its beginning accompanied, or who used the term muckraking for the first time. In this work, there are five selected representatives of muckraking, who are examined in detail. These representatives are: Upton Sinclair, Ida Tarbell, Lincoln Steffens, David Graham Phillips, and Samuel Hopkins Adams. Their biography, the cases which they were concerned with or their publications are included in the work. With every representative, there is a summary of his/her contribution to an improvement of the situation, or to its solving. The main target of this work is to realize how big power did the journalists of the beginning of 20th century have, how they influenced the population of that time, and which consequences they reached.
Změny vybraného sušeného ovoce během skladování a jejich vliv na senzorickou jakost
HUDSKÁ, Miluše
Thesis is focused on thy drying of apples and their changes during long-term storage. The theoretical part was written using the research, which brings findings about the drying of apples, their requirements during sale, selection of right raw material, interventions against enzymes and sensory analysis. The sensory analysis was a significant part of the practical part, because the practical part was based on it. Objective of the thesis was to compare three varieties of dried apples. By the scaling-point test there were not discovered by differences between varieties, but during each assessed descriptor there was discovered, that the quality is decreasing. The serial test was used as a second test of the sensory analysis, which determined the development of sensory quality and ordering of samples from the best to the worst. It was discovered, that all there varieties kept their specific characteristics for five months, i.e. eight months from the commencement of production. Longer storage was assessed as inconvenient.

Investigation of Sokoban Game Using Genetic Algorithms
Nezvalová, Leona ; Vašíček, Zdeněk (referee) ; Minařík, Miloš (advisor)
This work proposes an automatic Sokoban solver based on genetic algorithms. Emphasis is placed on the chromosome representation, that helps to deal with main problems related to automatic solving - size of a state space and presence of deadlocks. These problems are also addressed by specialized crossover operation and fitness function. The secondary objective is to optimize the solution using the optimization function and evolution itself.
