Zahraniční zadluženost rozvojových zemí
Golková, Dagmar ; Adamcová, Lenka (advisor) ; Nováček, Jan (referee)
Vysoká zahraniční zadluženost je jedním z globálních problémů současnosti. Více než 20 let se pokoušejí mezinárodní finanční instituce, OSN, vlády nejvíce rozvinutých zemí, rozvojové země a nevládní organizace hledat řešení. Dluhové úlevy jsou poskytovány rozvojovým zemím ze tří hlavních zdrojů: HIPC iniciativou, Pařížským klubem a bilaterálními věřiteli mimo Pařížský klub. Mezinárodní měnový fond spolu s Světovou bankou zprostředkovává HIPC iniciativu. V práci jsou hodnoceny pokroky učiněné v rámci globálního problému zadluženosti, a to především v 90. letech 20. století. Tyto pokroky jsou předvedeny prostřednictvím změn situace v jednotlivých rozvojových regionech.

Rosenkranc, Filip ; Němečková, Tereza (advisor) ; Řehořová, Veronika (referee)
Bachelor thesis examines the problem of external debt of developing countries and also the initiatives that try to solve this problem. The biggest part deals with two initiatives: HIPC (Heavily Indebted Poor Countries) and MDRI (Multilateral Debt Relief Initiative). I examine the process and evolution of these initiatives and also their results, whether total amnount of debt relief or the decrease of ratio debt indicators. I further examine the impact of debt relief processes on the participating countries, especially the increase in poverty reducing expenditures and whether the debt sustainability is reached. I emphasize critical views of these initiatives, current problems and issues that will need further attention. The debt relief process and its effects are demonstrated on the example of one particular country - Uganda.

Is Debt Cancellation a Good Way to go?
Vopařilová, Radka ; Štěpánek, Pavel (advisor) ; Kapinusová, Jana (referee)
The issue of the high levels of external debt in the poorest nations has become an increasing matter of concern for the industrialized nations due to the difficulties that heavily indebted nations have with sustaining economic growth. In 2005 the Group of Eight pledged to cancel the debt of the world?s most indebted countries that are eligible for the relief under the Highly Indebted Poor Country (HIPC) initiative. Based on this pledge, the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund approved the debt cancellation in March 2006, with debt cancellation commencing on June 1, 2006. As a reaction, this thesis provides an overview of arguments in favor of debt cancellation as well as against debt cancellation as they are introduced in economic literature. After presenting and taking all the points of view into consideration this thesis comes to the conclusion whether the debt cancellation is a good way to go.
