The Ten Commandments (Ex 20 and Dt 5); Exegesis and Placement in the Canonical and Historical Context and Theological Profile
Polcer, Josef ; Sláma, Petr (advisor) ; Sláma, Petr (referee)
This thesis presents the basic exegesis of the Old Testament text in the second book of Moses Chapter 20 and in the fifth book Moses chapter 5. It seeks to inclusion in the historical framework with regard to basic theological accents. For the most part is on the historical-critical approach, which revealed the formation of the text in the course of history and its position in the context of the Old Testament canon. Almost certainly it can be said that the final text of the Ten Commandments is set in the deuteronomistic history that was specific to their linguistic terminology and theological accents. Exodus and the Egyptian Tradition
Smítková, Veronika ; Mynářová, Jana (advisor) ; Janák, Jiří (referee)
Exodus, the second book of Moses, narrates the stay of the Israelites in Egypt, their leave and wandering to the Promised Land. According to the Old Testament narration, they served as slaves making bricks and working on fields in Egypt. Whether the story is true or fictitious, that is the subject of ardent debates for several decades. The historicity has not been reliably confirmed yet, as well as several other aspects of this biblical book. However, it is interesting that we can see similarities between particular passages of Exodus and the ancient Egyptian sources. The aim of the B.A. thesis is to provide a comparison of ancient Egyptian cultural studies with the biblical tradition. Within that there will be introduced some iconographic and written sources that are focused particularly on the brick production and agricultural works, which according to the Old Testament version the Israelite people was toiling with. Even though cited sources do not prove the truthfulness of the story, they at least detail the historical and cultural background of the book of Exodus.
" I willl harden his heart, that he shall not let the people go" (Exo 4:21b)
Černá, Venuše ; Sláma, Petr (advisor) ; Prudký, Martin (referee)
This thesis "I will harden his heart, that he shall not let the people go" (Exod 4:21b) deals with the hardening of Pharaoh's heart in the first part of the book of Exodus (Exod 1-15). It seeks to answer the questions of what it means "harden heart", who, when, how and why hardened Pharaoh's heart, what are the implications for Pharaoh (especially whether the Pharaoh could freely change his decision and implement it) and what is God who hardens someone's heart (whether he is not only sovereign and powerful, but also a good, wise and righteous). This thesis includes my own translation, lexical, grammatical, diachronic and synchronic analysis, examination of the text in the context of the Old and New Testament and history of interpretation. Emphasis is placed on the most accurate translation (distinction of three different Hebrew verbs and their semantic nuances, distinction of different verb stems of stative verbs and distinction of description of the condition and change of the condition etc.). The main conclusion of this work is that God not limit Pharaoh's freedom to freely make decisions by "hardening" of his heart, but that he strengthened him that he would be able to freely decide whether to obey the Lord despite increasing pressure of "plagues", and in order to show whether his verbally...

Pasing The Iron Curtain via Prague - the first wave of refugees from the GDR in autumn 1989 in the West German embassy and the portrayal in the Czecho-slovakian press
Majerová, Kateřina ; Konrád, Ota (advisor) ; Šmidrkal, Václav (referee)
The bachelor thesis "Passing The Iron Curtain via Prague - the first wave of refugees from the GDR in autumn 1989 in the West German embassy and the portrayal in the Czechoslovakian press" deals with the topic of refugees in the West German embassy in Prague in the year 1989. It focuses on the first of three refugee of refugees in the late summer and autumn 1989 which took place from August to September 1989. Concerning the first wave of refugees in August and September two aspects are being analysed in this bachelor thesis which influence the structure of this scientific paper. The first part deals with the role of representatives of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic during the first refugee wave and how they reacted to the events in the embassy. This part draws especially on documents from Czechoslovakian archives because the Czechoslovakian role in these events has been kept secret from the Federal Republic of Germany. The second part contains an analysis of how the selected Czechoslovakian daily papers (Rudé právo, Svobodné slovo, Lidová demokracie, Mladá fronta a Práce ) reported about the refugees in the West German embassy from August until the departure of the first special trains. Much emphasis was laid on showing how often, in which way and to what extent there were reports about these...
