Personal testimonies of two men and two women are accompanied with the explanation of experts on this given topic from the psychological, sociological, and economical point of view. The practical part is supported by this theoretical work which briefly introduces the phenomenon of voluntary childlessness, its history, the most common reasons leading to this decision and problematic aspects connected with it. Representation of voluntary childlessness in online media
Veselovská, Jana Emilie ; Vochocová, Lenka (advisor) ; Supa, Markéta (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the media representation of voluntary childlessness. Published studies frame the issue of voluntary childlessness from a sociological or psychological point of view; in the media context, this topic is not much represented. As the existing media analyzes focused on print media, this work is focused on a different type - online media. The topic of voluntary childlessness is still perceived as controversial in society and social norms play a part in this. Although the concept of family and parenthood has evolved considerably, entrenched norms of parenthood still persist, as previous studies have shown. The media are an integral part of our daily lives, influencing our thinking and the way we look at the world around us, and they can strengthen or weaken these norms. The aim of this work is to map how the media represent voluntary childlessness and how they portray voluntary childless people.

Childfreeness as a response to the current climate crisis
Stříbrská, Šárka ; Novák, Arnošt (advisor) ; Nyklová, Blanka (referee)
This qualitative research focuses on the decision to stay childfree as a specific individual strategy for coping with the effects of climate crisis. The purpose of this study is to show ways in which the climate crisis is internalized and stressed within the decision to stay childfree. Data for this research were created through semi-structured interviews with 12 informants coming from all around the world. These informants were divided into two different categories. First of them, the kinnovators, perceive their decision to stay childfree as a way to erase the boundary between human and non-human worlds and therefore, similarly to Donna J. Haraway (2016), they perceive their childfreeness as an alternative to the popularly held belief of genalogical view on human kinship. These informants experience a great amount of environmental grief (Kevorkian, 2004) based on the values of antispeciesism and they see the main causes of climate crisis in the epoch of Anthropocene and therefore in the problems connected to human society - such as overpopulation (e.g. Ehrlich, 1986, compared to Haraway, 2016) or consumerism (Bell, 2004). Kinnovators perceive their decision to stay childfree as their individual responsibility and as a way to mitigate climate crisis, as well as a means to maintain their integrity....

Childfree couples by choice
JIRSOVÁ, Veronika
This bachelor thesis deals with the topic of families childless by choice and the social workers' opinion on that topic. The thesis is divided into two parts - the theoretical part and the research. The theoretical part deals with: a general opinion on families childless by choice, the progress of childlessness in the Czech Republic, particular reasons to stay childless stated by couples childless by choice and a consulting process in which a childless couple encounters the social worker. The aim of this thesis is to chart the social workers' perspective on childlessness by choice, moreover, the reasons leading to such a choice. Regarding above mentioned, two research questions were set. Their goal is to determine the amount of lifestyle and professional career's influence on the decision to stay childless from the point of view of social workers. A qualitative research strategy and a method of structured interview with open questions were used in order to achieve the set goal. Social an legal protection of children bureau workers were chosen as respondents. The interviews were divided into particular topic cathegories using the cluster method. Then they were further analysed. This thesis may serve as a source material to researchers in this field. Mostly because it thoroughly specifies the opinion on childlessness by choice of a homogenous group rather than general public as in other sources. According to the social workers, lifestyle and professional status have a major influence on the decision to stay childless. They percieve childlessness as a phenomenon that occursin contemporary society more than it used to in the past.
