Comparison of commonly used SQL and NoSQL data storages
Čečil, Petr ; Nečaský, Martin (advisor) ; Mlýnková, Zuzana (referee)
Data storing is today very important topic. Because of Web 2.0 and software-as-a-service applications there is growing need for scalability and new types of data stores. The aim of this thesis is to help understand competing SQL and NoSQL data stores and their target use cases. Author mapped last trends in data storing and application architecture and tried to find how concrete data stores address them. There is also experimental part with benchmark and simple application that demonstrate data store's connectors and their speed.
Analysis of selected secondary structures of nucleic acids
Skružný, Petr ; Mokrejš, Martin (advisor) ; Drda Morávková, Alena (referee)
This work introduces a database of experimentally verified structures of nucleic acids which were collected from published scientific literature. The database is annotated and the structures are analysed from the perspective of quality and it was found that the experimentally obtained data are not always sufficient - their supporting evidence is often limited and their quality is not convincing. This work also discusses some of the problems, that can be encountered when the structures are experimentally probed. Contents of the database were compared to the RFAM database and despite of its small range it contains 80 new structures. The complete database of 166 structures can be possibly used to optimise software used to predict derived structures of nucleic acids. Furthermore, the work presents several possible ways of improvement of the quality of contained structures.
Copyright protection of databases
Havel, Michal ; Dobřichovský, Tomáš (advisor) ; Žikovská, Petra (referee)
(EN) Primary focus of this thesis is the copyright protection of databases. This thesis introduce the copyright protection of databases as an essential element of two pillar system of European Union database protection law that is based on the directive no. 69/9/ES on the legal protection of databases. First five chapters of this thesis are concerned with general questions related to the copyright protection of databases. Purpose of these chapters is to introduce roots of legal and other nature from which the copyright protection of databases arises. This part of the thesis thus defines the phenomenon of databases in relation to information society, available means of protection, the purpose of legal protection of databases, the legal framework and relevant legal traditions. Subject of sixth chapter is the definition of database as a specific category of work and compares it with other kinds of works with the emphasis on common and distinctive characteristics. Seventh chapter focuses on elementary features of the copyright protection of databases, ie. structural protection, concept of originality and rights related to the creation and the use of databases. Eight chapter introduces the sui generis regime as a second pillar of database protection based on directive no. 69/9/ES. This chapter further...
Shopping Advisor for Android
Eliáš, Vladimír ; Milička, Martin (referee) ; Maršík, Lukáš (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with study, design and implementation of mobile application for smartphones with Android operating system. The application scans barcodes and then communicates with the database. This thesis also describes how to create a modern graphical user interface with illustrative examples. The main purpose of application is to speed up the process of obtaining information about the products offered in shops and at the same time help choosing the right product based on the user's input and advanced algorithms.
Distributed Processing of IP flow Data
Krobot, Pavel ; Kořenek, Jan (referee) ; Žádník, Martin (advisor)
This thesis deals with the subject of distributed processing of IP flow. Main goal is to provide an implementation of a software collector which allows storing and processing huge amount of a network data in particular. There was studied an open-source implementation of a framework for the distributed processing of large data sets called Hadoop, which is based on MapReduce paradigm. There were made some experiments with this system which provided the comparison with the current systems and shown weaknesses of this framework. Based on this knowledge there was created a specification and scheme for an extension of current software collector within this work. In terms of the created scheme there was created an implementation of query framework for formed collector, which is considered as most critical in the field of distributed processing of IP flow data. Results of experiments with created implementation show significant performance growth and ability of linear scalability with some types of queries.
Database for the Intelligent Home
Vampola, Pavel ; Korček, Pavol (referee) ; Kořenek, Jan (advisor)
This thesis deal with database for smart homes, that is developing at FIT VUT in Brno. Thesis describes design and implementation of database for smart home in PostgreSQL and focus on speeding up queries and inserting to database. Designed database, on processor Intel Xeon E5410 with 12GB RAM and one hard drive, is capable to serve about 16000 homes. The thesis describes server application, which comunicate with user devices and provides data stored in database. Whole smart home system was thoroughly tested by real users. Several months of testing was made on alpha and beta versions. Server application is also integrated to system of continual integration Jenkins.
Development of web application for company project planning support
Štrunc, Jan ; Brožek, Jiří (advisor) ; Jan, Jan (referee)
The bachelor thesis deals with programming web applications used to support project planning based on data maintained in its records. The theoretical part deals with the issue of application development and also mentions the technology that will be used for its development. The practical part will be devoted to the development and programming of various tools and applications themselves. The technology described in the first part will be applied to the development and well demonstrated.
Data quality in the business information database environment
Cabalka, Martin ; Chlapek, Dušan (advisor) ; Kučera, Jan (referee)
This master thesis is concerned with the choice of suitable data quality dimensions for a particular database of economy information and proposes and implements metrics for its assessment. The aim of this paper is to define the term data quality in the context of economy information database and possible ways to measure it. Based on dimensions suitable to observe, a list of metrics was created and subsequently implemented in SQL query language, alternatively in a procedural extension Transact SQL. These metrics were also tested with the use of real data and the results were provided with a commentary. The main asset of this work is its complex processing of the data quality topic, from theoretical term definition to particular implementation of individual metrics. Finally, this study offers a variety of both theoretical and practical directions fort this issue to be further researched.
Demonstrate the principles of application development for Android on the example of a simple game
Tatoušek, Petr ; Pecinovský, Rudolf (advisor) ; Oraný, Vladimír (referee)
Demonstration of the Android application development principles explained on a simple game is a thesis describing in it's theoretical part Android OS. It also briefly describes it's history and especially it's architecture emphasizing on my thesis' part relevant to the practi-cal part of my dissertation. It also focuses on the general applications' architecture princi-ples for this operating system. In the practical part of the thesis I tend to describe the application development principles for Android OS. This is achieved on an sample application. This sample application is an implementation of a text-based adventure game in the Java language. It uses SQLite data-base for storing the game data. There is a game framework which enables entering diffe-rent game data to the database and thus playing different games with divergent game plays.
