A comparative analysis of Czech and Slovak librarian periodicals

The subject of my thesis are Czech and Slovak periodicals in the field of librarian and information science - their concise history, determination of the current terminology in this field and publishing work, description of the editorial staff and the roles of its members, reviewing procedure and editorial work applied to specific examples of both printed and electronic media, specification of formal appurtenances of a specialized article, citation and information ethics. The following chapter deals with the characteristics of the current specialized periodicals issued in the Czech and Slovak Republic. The research oriented part focuses upon the topical analysis of librarian periodicals, further the results of two questionnaires relating to editorial work are discussed as well as various preparatory stages of a specialized periodical. Online film reviews of a documentary Katka and users' comments in Česko-Slovenská filmová databáz

The aim of this thesis is to analyze online film reviews of a documentary Katka and users' comments published in Česko-Slovenská filmová databáze. In the theoretical part of this thesis, the text will cover definition of a term documentary movie and his historical development in Czech Republic and former Czechoslovakia. Also it will mention work of a documentary film maker Helena Třeštíková and her movie Katka. This thesis will also describe term review and commentary, which will be applied in the practical part of the thesis. Users' comments and online reviews of a documentary Katka by Helena Třeštíková are evaluated using authors' theoretical knowledge. The key result of the thesis is a quantitative and qualitative analysis of a review and comment as a tool to referring about documentary Katka.
Application for monitoring and analysis of vascular reconstructions

Implantation and the care of vascular reconstructions and accesses for haemodialysis is one of areas of cardiovascular surgery. Both vascular reconstructions, known as bypasses, and prosthetic haemodialytic accesses, known as grafts, are used only if conventional therapies are unsuccessful. Thus effectivity of these operations is critically important for patient survival. The aim of this thesis is development of software system for evidence data obtained during vascular operations and following checkups. Important is also support for basic analytical and statistical processing of collected data. Another goal is to transform collected data into knowledge useful for increasing effectivity of vascular operations.
International Comparative Analysis of Information Systems of trademarks and industrial designs

The thesis analyzes and compares the selected information systems on industrial property focused on trademarks and industrial designs. These are the selected systems of the Industrial Property Office of the Czech Republic, the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market, the World Intellectual Property Organization, the US Patent and Trademark Office and the Swedish Patent and Registration Office. The work is divided into seven parts. The first part describes the terminology and the environment of trademarks and industrial designs. The second part lists the types of international classification, which is followed by the third part, which describes the international treaties and agreements. The fourth part presents selected institutions and their analyzed systems. The fifth part deals with the analysis and the sixth section summarizes trends in the disclosure of trade marks and industrial designs. The last seventh part of the work shows an impact of the protection of trademarks and industrial designs in the business. The analysis showed that the national databases of the Industrial Property Office of the Czech Republic were top rated. The worst evaluation acquired databases of the US Patent and Trademark Office. A fingerpring database

The main goal of this thesis is to provide full description of an implementation of an application that is supposed to be a complex dactyloscopic database tool. The text is divided into parts according to the functional blocks of the application. The parts are namely processing of input fingerprint, the minutiae point analysis, the description of minutiae representation, the database and index structure described with its operations. Usually we describe multiple algorithms for a single task. In this case we provide their comparison. At the end of this thesis, there is a user manual describing the main usage scenarios. Copyright protection of databases

The topic of this thesis is copyright protection of databases. The aim of the thesis is to find out, via comparison of the different legal systems, if the European legislation of legal protection of databases is proper, adequate and if it reflects the current needs of the European society. The thesis contains a brief historical description leading to the current legislation. Next to descriptive and comparative method of research author uses also analytical method of research for analyzing the legislation and provides to readers his own opinion toward the chosen topic. The thesis deals with the European Union and USA legislation in the field of database legal protection. As for European legislation, the author puts emphasis on copyright law protection and on so-called sui generis right. The thesis consists of Introduction, Conclusion and another 9 chapters. The second chapter provides the basic terms and problems of the topic. The third chapter contains international treaties relating to databases. The following three chapters relate to the European Union legislation, where the author describes the historical process leading to adoption of directive on the legal protection of databases in 1996.
