What Are Children Talking About In Art Lessons?

The bachelor's thesis deals with the communication of preschool children in kindergarten during art activities, their sharing of feelings, enthusiasm for creation. The aim of the work is to describe the communication of children during selected art activities and how the interest in their communication is manifested. The work is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part deals with the topics of communication, children's interactions, the characteristics of art activities, all with regard to preschool children. The practical part is devoted to 7 selected art activities, which are then realized with children. The author of bachelor thesis tries to engage as a silent observer, but also as a participant. Using a video camera, all art activities had been recorded, transcribed and then analyzed through open coding. The research questions had been discussed: What do children say during art activities? Specific research questions had been established: What do children talk about spontaneously during art activities? What non-verbal expressions do they accompany their communication? How does mutual communication differ on the basis of different art activities? How does the communication between girls and boys differ? How do children express the joy that art activities have brought...

Visual culture and contemporary media in art education of preschool children with emphasis on advertisement

This thesis deals with visual culture and media (with emphasis on advertisement) in art lessons of preschool children. One part is formed by a questionnaire in which preschool children and their parents reply to questions concerning their perception and influence of advertisement relating to contemporary media. The aim of the research is to get children's basic knowledge, attitudes and projections about advertisement and also parents' opinions on how their children are influenced by advertisement. This research part pervades with didactical sets charting children's relation to advertisement and brings them to reflection. Results of this thesis point out possibilities of using elements in media education in connection with art activities in nursery schools. Textiles as a specific medium in art activities at 2nd degree of primary (practical-theoretical thesis)

The thesis focuses on textile as a specific medium in arts lessons at the second grade of elementary schools. The theoretical part describes the role of textile in culture. It explores the utilisation of textile in arts and in historical context. It also tracks the work of important textile designers, graphic artists and pedagogues Karla Cikánová, Jana Skarlantová and Taťána Šteiglová. It emphasizes the advantages and the didactic aspects of utilising textile in arts and reflects on the possibilities and opportunities of using textile in art lessons in the Czech Republic. The practical part includes eight authorial lessons focusing on using textile as an educational element at the second grade of elementary school. A part of the thesis also reflects on how they were partially put in practice.
