Zahrada, Tomáš ; Pfeiffer, Magdalena (advisor) ; Zavadilová, Marta (referee)
Selected Issues of International Law of Succession The topic of this thesis is selected issues of international law of succession. These primarily target European succession law and its basic principles regulated by Regulation (EU) No 650/2012 of the European Parliament and the Council of 4 July 2012. Using the literature and case law of national and international courts, the author provides a brief insight into the basic principles contained in the individual provisions of the legislation and answers the question of to what extent they provide legal certainty and predictability to the testator and other persons when trying to plan an inheritance with an international element. In examining the shortcomings of the current European succession law in the context of legal certainty and predictability, the author compares the various expert opinions on the subject and adds his perspective. The thesis consists of three chapters, further divided into subchapters. In the first chapter, the author discusses the reasons for adopting legislation in the field of succession with an international element and then introduces the various sources of European succession law. In the second chapter, the author briefly describes the basic principles of European succession law, namely the uniform succession statute, the...
Media response to the end of Maya calendar as the end of the world in 2012
Skřivánková, Adéla ; Jirák, Jan (advisor) ; Soukup, Martin (referee)
The diploma thesis aims to find out what was the media image of the end of the Mayan calendar as the supposed end of the world in 2012. A a number of theories, reflections and predictions were made about what would probably happen on December 21, 2012. The apocalyptic predictions of the end of the world appeared most often. Probably due to deeper ignorance of the theme and attractiveness of catastrophic scenarios, the end of the Mayan calendar has become a widespread phenomenon that resonated across society and has become a frequent subject of media stories. The analysis of media content investigated the extent to which the 2012 phenomenon of the selected media was really devoted, what kind of approach to the topic the media took and whether it encouraged fear or uncertainty in society. The thesis provides a sufficient theoretical basis and historical context that the subsequent analysis can then rely on.
The two-step flow of communication in the senate election in Prague in 2012 - Case study
Olejárová, Adéla ; Říchová, Blanka (advisor) ; Váňa, Tomáš (referee)
The purpose of this bachelor thesis is to describe and examine the validity of the two-step flow of communication; discovered by Paul Felix Lazarsfeld and his team whilst working on an election study: The People's Choice in 1944, USA. The strength of this theory is examined in relation with the case of the campaign for Senate election in the Czech Republic in 2012. The view on the two-step flow of communication is changing with the correlation of the development of the general media influence. Besides the two-step flow of communication other communication theories related to this one are described. Afterwards two campaigns of the political parties are analysed - Civil Democratic Party and TOP 09. The focus is on the candidates, the main message of the campaign and especially the forms of the campaigns which were prevailing. As my research has shown, the predominant form of the campaign was a contact campaign which does not confirm the presence of the two-step flow of communication because there is a direct contact with people which is the most important factor for the candidates.
