Mertlík, Tadeáš ; Soukup, Jaromír (advisor) ; Kotrman, Václav (referee)
The bachelor thesis deals with the figure of Juan Domingo Perón and the ideology of Peronism in Argentina. It examines the period from the 1940s, when Perón's gradual rise to power began, to the fall of his regime in 1955. The thesis analyzes the far-reaching socio- economic changes, which occurred during the first two Perón's presidential terms, such as the significant improvement of living conditions for the lowest classes in society, especially the working class. But it also examines the widespread repressions, which the regime applied to their opponents. The thesis also focuses on the interpretation of the Peronist ideology and it tries to determine what was the significance of the presidential couple Juan and Eva Perón. Based on primary sources and secondary literature the thesis comes to the conclusion that the figure of Perón was totally crucial for the entire regime and ideology, whilst the figure of Eva Perón was rather a tool of the Peronist propaganda.

Drexler, Otto ; Ježková, Petra (advisor) ; Knapík, Jiří (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with the journalistic work of the theatre critic Josef Träger in the period of the so-called Third Republic (1945-1948). It describes the process of forming attitudes of the journalist towards post-war theatre, presents a representation of the dominant discourse and its transformation during the given period. This thesis focuses on the content analysis of theatre papers, conceived as a kind of "case study", it relates to the basic themes and problems of Czech post-war theatre. It is argued that this approach enables the analyst to pose questions concerning the ideological character of theatre criticism. This thesis discusses ideas of avant-garde creators and theorists, in whose public work it identifies the main source of inspiration for the revolutionary transformation of Czech theatre in 1945. It explores the influence of the Communist Party in the given period, targeted interventions in the Czech media and theatre system and manipulative practices leading to the strengthening of its power in the post-war state. The text also deals with the manifestations of the emerging socio-political disposition in theatre journalism, the form of the reception of post-war hegemonic formation by the journalist, and to structure the results of the analysis into a broader political-media...

Murár, Tomáš ; Konečný, Lubomír (advisor) ; Rakušanová, Marie (referee)
The main aim of the Master Thesis is the work of the 1940s by the American painter Edward Hopper (1882-1967) in a relationship to the long poem by Wystan Hugh Auden The Age of Anxiety. A Baroque Eclogue (1947). The Thesis in ten chapters researches Hopper's painting Nighthawks (1942), which is considered to be one of the most important works by Hopper from the war years. Unique position of this painting is reconstructed through intermedial projections and linkages towards the Auden's poem. Next to the interpretation of the intermedial relations, in the centre of the Thesis are time-space relations to Hopper's painting semantics due to period thoughs of temporality, atemporality and aperspectivism. An attention is also paid to the relation of the painting and phenomenology of temporal consciousness and continuance in connection with semantics of the space as "heterotopia".

Postwar Japanese literature and historical transition durin the years 1945 - 1960
Weber, Michael ; Švarcová, Zdeňka (advisor) ; Nymburská, Dita (referee) ; Tirala, Martin (referee)
The thesis presents an assumption that literature is inspired by reality (besides other factors), and that specific literary worlds may, to a certain extent, reflect the actual state of society. Historical events around the end of WWII and the consequent rapid social changes in Japan during late 1940s and 1950s had an indisputable impact on literary production at the time. The aim of this thesis is to affirm this assumption through an analysis of selected short stories and novels from the time concerned. The analysis focuses on remarks and on references about the period of time when the prose was written, and also on behavioral and attitude changes of its characters - prototypes of the Japanese society. The direct impact of historical and social transition on literary work may also be traced in the works' themes, motifs and narrative. We can thus, in many cases, follow the development of the Japanese postwar society from 1945 until the late 1950s, when the country started to prosper economically. The selection of the analysed pieces of literature includes two novels which did not only describe the time of their origination, but also had reverse effect on society. The impact hypothesis is thus confirmed and, what is more, we can see a mutual influence exercised by both, the society and art: The...
