Design of a test chamber to study the emission of solid particles from the wheel-rail contact
Rosecký, Vojtěch ; Galas, Radovan (referee) ; Omasta, Milan (advisor)
In order to study dust particles released from the contact of the wheel and as a result of wear and the application of friction-modifying materials in the contact, a two-disk device simulating this contact was developed at the Institute of Design. A test chamber was added to prevent particles from escaping from the twin-disc device into the environment and to allow their analysis. The main goal of the thesis was to construct the test chamber. Sub-goals included the concept design, construction, preparation of the production documentation and implementation. All required objectives have been met and the working chamber is ready for experiments, although some elements of the chamber would be modified in the near future. The benefit of this work is the completion of a twin-disc tribometer, which can be used for solid particle emission research.

HOW TO MOVE ON WHEN THE STATION IS GONE?
Jálová, Kateřina ; Illéš, Juraj (referee) ; Zemánková, Helena (advisor)
The diploma thesis is based on the pre-diploma project, which deals with the vacant buildings after the railway is moved from the center of Brno to the newly proposed location of the transport hub according to the KAM study. The diploma project focuses specifically on the heritage-listed building of the Brno main railway station. The aim is to find a suitable function for this building and to integrate it into the context between the historic center and the newly built southern quarter. The proposal also solves the building's surroundings, which include the area of the vacant railway track and the station forecourt with its complex traffic situation, which has been one of the least popular public spaces in the city for many years.
HOW TO MOVE ON WHEN THE STATION IS GONE?
Valíček, Viktor ; Illéš, Juraj (referee) ; Zemánková, Helena (advisor)
HOW TO MOVE ON WHEN THE STATION IS GONE? "I'll tell you how. It will be pretty crappy!" (visitor to the exhibition of the same name as the pre-graduate analytical project, 2024) The purpose of the urbanistic-architectural inquiry entitled "How to move on when the station is gone?" is particularly focused on the scenario where several historically protected buildings of significant urban importance in Brno lose their function due to the relocation of a major railway junction. That means, for the preservation of a functional city structure, it is necessary to find a new and equally significant utilization. Especially considering the location and real as well as abstract significance of these buildings. A crucial aspect is the location at the interface between the newly emerging city district in a brownfield area without identity and the oldest historic city center. Former structures associated with the railway aspire to become new significant urban landmarks capable of mediating the soul and identity of Brno to the new district. Connection is the main theme introduced by the urbanistic concept for the conversion of the area, developed in collaboration with the atelier colleagues Šimon Mareček and Kateřina Jálová. The study also builds upon the ideas of the Office of the Architect of the City of Brno, especially the concept of completing the green urban circuit (following the example of Vienna's Ringstrasse) and the idea of revealing the historic so-called Ferdinand Viaduct. The area is further divided into three consecutive sections (subtitles of three diploma theses). This work primarily focuses on the conversion of the released Amerika building and the newly designed urban space 'underlining the dominant feature of Brno - the Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul'. "If a book of unfinished pages lies in front of us, its structure is already inscribed in the essence of the work itself." (Prof. Ivan Koleček, 2010) Amerika possesses an amazing genius loci and great potential to become a significant landmark for its surroundings. The "book of unfinished pages" of the former warehouse building has a structure so distinct and valuable that its violent rewriting would border on sacrilege. The building needs to be approached with extreme sensitivity, highlighting its qualities and adapting the space to new functions with necessary delicate interventions to avoid the destruction of the "structure of the work itself". The project aims to improve access to the building, creating connections with the adjacent park to the east through the revealed Ferdinand Viaduct and with the future city street with multifunctional buildings to the west. Better accessibility of the building is ensured by a level connection leading through a symbolic gate from the newly designed houses opening onto the proposed square beneath Petrov (the Cathedral of Saint Peter and Paul) to the main urban transport hub.
Precise Positioning of Railway Primary System Using Gnss Technology in Operating Conditions
Bureš, Jiří ; Vystavěl, Ondřej
The paper deals with the analysis of the accuracy of the real-time GNSS measurement procedure used in railway operating conditions. The accuracy achieved in operating conditions is compared with the accuracy obtained on a calibration base using the same measurement procedure. The consistency between the accuracies of the primary system (satellite-determined) and the secondary system (terrestrially measured by the traverse method) is also discussed. The analysis includes the problem of residual inhomogeneities of the uniform transformation key when transformed to S-JTSK.
Railway track deformation measurement
Leischner, Ludvík ; Bureš, Jiří (referee) ; Švábenský, Otakar (advisor)
This bachelor thesis is about measuring deformations on railway bridge in Znojmo. The horizontal and vertical changes of railway track on the bridge and newly renovated bridge construction were measured by using two independent methods, namely 3D polar method and kinematic GNSS Stop & Go method. The assessment of the longitudinal shifts depending on atmospheric conditions especially the temperature changes is an essential goal of this work. Another key aim is the determination of precision of both independ-ent measuring methods.
Proposal of topology of piezoceramic composite sensor
Dostal, Vojtěch ; Ševeček, Oldřich (referee) ; Majer, Zdeněk (advisor)
This master thesis deals with design and numerical modelling of piezoceramic sensor, which is placed on a rail, in order to generate electrical energy, which can be used for wireless monitoring of railway traffic and to monitor the condition of the railway. The thesis is divided into three parts. Theoretically background of piezoelectric energy harvesting is described in first part, where some previous application of piezoelectric generator in railway area are shown. In the second part, parametric analysis of numerical model is performed, which directly leads to finding best location on a rail, where piezoelectric generator should be placed. For this analysis the homogenized model of MFC sensor was used. Results of the numerical model were then compared with the results of the conducted experiment. The third part presented own design of piezoceramic sensor, which is placed onto most suitable location on a rail. Results from numerical analysis shown eligibility of using piezoceramic sensor to monitor the railway traffic.
NorthEast segment of Hranice town bypass
Kelča, Petr ; Jakl, Tomáš (referee) ; Všetečka, Martin (advisor)
The aim of this diploma thesis is to elaborate a variant of the technical solution of the Northeast bypass road of the city Hranice and its subsequent comparison with other variant prepared by the company Linio Plan, s.r.o. The main task of the bypass road is the operation of the industrial zone, through which is achieved the relocation of a large part of the transit traffic from the city centre. The basic difference of compared variants is their location to the city, the solution developed by Linio Plan, s.r.o. passes through the industrial zone and the other variant passes outside this zone.
