Violencia and social issues in Colombian children's literature

This dissertation focuses on a critical approach to Latin-American children's literature, its evolution and its particular issues. It is based on the analysis of Colombian realistic fiction for children and young adults. The aim of this work is to show how Colombian children's literature has established some particular features that make it distinguished in Latin-American children's literature. The methodology is based on literary studies along with specifications of children's literature theory in perspective with the Colombian political and social situation during the twentieth century. The dissertation adresses elements from literary analysis: The narratology (V. Propp, and G. Gennette) the literary criticism (M. Bakhtin, and the concept of ideology) plus cultural studies in Latin America (Á. Rama). The research takes theoretical concepts from children's literature, related to pedagogy (T. Colomer), aesthetics (M. Nikolajeva), ideology (P. Hollindale) and historiography of children's literature in Latin America: A. Rodriguez, 1993, 2010; M. Muñoz, 2009; B. Robledo 1997, 2012 & L. Borrero, 2001. Classic and authorial fairy tale in kindergarten

Aim: My thesis shall reveal which form of fairy-tales is the favourite one for preschool children. My effort is to find out which styles of fairy tales children return to. Solution: I applied qualitative method of interviewing children about the read fairy-tale for my survey. Continually, I used the method of participant observation while monitoring the interest in artwork contained in books. Subsequently, children selected the favourite books. The method of participant observation was applied again in this part. Results: Through the realized survey, I found that a classic fairy-tale is an unsubstitutable element in children development. However, it must be presented in such a language form which is comprehensible for children. Illustrations accompanying the story are very useful. Author's fairy-tale affects children very significantly so it is necessary to choose topics of appropriate quality. Both types of fairy-tales are indispensable factors for proper development of intellectual, emotional and ethical part of child's character and they are interesting and stimulating for children. Benefits of the thesis: The results of the thesis allow organizing and realizing activities in nurseries in a way that is suitable and valuable for children. It shows the way how to handle the fairy-tale genre within education for preschool children.
The Implementation of Reading Workshop at the Primary School

This thesis deals with the inclusion of the reading workshop methods in the primary schools and its application to the lessons of the Czech language and literature. The main aim of the theoretical part is to define key concepts connected with the topic. It describes the definitions of the reading workshop, the reading literacy and the description of "The formal notice no. 56", which has been focused on the support of the development of reading in the Czech schools. In this part the particular educational methods, which are focused on the development of reading, and the Czech and international researches are characterized. The practical part of the thesis, using the qualitative surveys, appraises the preparation and the realization of the project "The formal notice no. 56" at the particular primary school. There were realized the interviews with the educators and the head master. The assets and negative features of the reading workshop were followed by those dialogues. According to the direct observation of the methods during the lessons of the Czech language and literature, there were recorded the reactions of pupils to the reading and working with a text. In the practical part there are also the characteristics of the materials which were created under the project in the school. The purpose of these researches is to find out how the teachers as well as the schoolchildren react to the method and if it brought to the classes any new elements and if it could be still the part of education in the future.
Recommended reading at elementary school

The aim of the diploma thesis Recommended reading at elementary school is to map the current state of suggested readings and work with it in elementary schools in the Czech Republic. The thesis is divided into theoretical part where are elaborated and characterized the basic concepts related to this issue. It is thus focused on the definition of reader, reading literacy, reading and further on is defined the recommended and primer reading. Furthermore, this section offers the methods used to develop literacy skills in Czech language lessons and literature. In the practical parts is intimated the basic research, which was carried out on this subject through a series of interviews with 26 teachers coming from different schools. The research aims to find out the current status of recommended reading at the middle school level, whether it is used by teachers, eventually how they continue to operate with it and use this knowledge for their own teaching practice.
The Differences in selected Students Personality Characteristics of full-time and combined Study

The presented thesis deals with the differences in selected characteristic features among full-time and combined students. The theoretical part presents a set of problems related to personality in general, the practical part -- by means of questionnaire investigation -- finds out the existence of these differences; further on the thesis analyses possible impacts on students' study results. Finally, there are formulated particular recommendations for the prevention of possible problems that might occur in this sphere.

This diploma thesis deals with the topic of "Recommended reading in the Czech language at primary school", it tries to summarize the position of the recommended reading nowadays. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on characteristics and definition of the essential notions of this problematic, such as the reader, children´s reading, reading literacy and extra reading-book and recommended reading. The research is focused on primary teachers and it is based on the survey. The survey aim is to find out the position of recommended reading at primary school, whether it is assigned and how do the teachers organize that.

The presented bachelor thesis deals with the theme of fairy tales and its function in the child's upbringing. This thesis is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part deals with the issue of a fairy tale, its constitution and functions, the struggles of story and influence on child. The practical part contains a survey focusing on Understanding the fairy tale from perspective of children from nursery and primary school and possible differences between these different age categories.
Understanding of reading text by pupils on the first grade at the primary school

This diploma thesis was called Understanding of reading text on the first level of basic schools. My thesis is focused on reader´s literacy issue, because recently this topic is often discussed. I decided to make a research that is concerned to this problem. The research was carried out on the first level of the basic school in Ledenice. Fifty pupils from five classes were tested. These pupils filled special tests after reading a given text. The goal of carried research was to find out the level of reader´s literacy. At the beginning of my research some hypothesis were set. These hypothesis could be largely confirmed after the research.
Inmate women´s attitude towards literature, reading and books

This thesis deals with convicted women´s attitude towards books, reading and literature. The goal of this thesis was to find out what kind of relation have chosen inmate women in prison in Světlá nad Sázavou towards literature and books. We also asked and responded the question, if insufficient or missing reading habits could be predictable factor of criminal behavior, because we think that insufficient reading habits and possibility to commit a crime could be somehow connected.

This thesis is focused on cooperation of younger school age children and on possibilities of its development with the use of literary subject and creative activity. Theoretical part defines the specifics of younger school age children and the physical and mental development of a child. It defines phenomenon of cooperation, the teacher?s role in cooperative education, learning environment, cooperative play and possibilities of cooperation in arts. It describes the importance and specificity of literature for children; it defines the relationship of children to books at present time. It also focuses on fairy tales and their importance for small readers. The thesis characterizes the creative education of children, its importance and interconnection with literature. It describes some art techniques, which are suitable for working with younger school age children. The practical part is focused on creative expression of younger school age children and on their cooperation within the creative activity. The activity with children has been done in after-school club. All the activities have been motivated with books by famous Czech writers.
