Visual Composition in Time

Bachelor's thesis is a short subjective document, that is made up of my own footage, which I have been collecting for a long time until now. It captures the physical and social environment in which I have been moving in recent years. Through them, I try to portray my feelings about these environments, about constant movement through them and in general about neverending traveling in space-time. It is my way of thinking about where my safe space is, if it is one place or if there are more of them, or if I feel the best at the moment, when I travel and I am not grounded in any place.

Escapes and Returns in Neil Gaiman´s Fantasy Stories

The diploma thesis deals with the interpretation of Neil Gaiman's work, in particular, the children's stories Coraline (2002), The Graveyard Book (2008) a Fortunately, the Milk (2013). The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on the continuity of the discussed works with the tradition of adventure literature and the Gothic novel. The theoretical parts also covers the theme of British children literature and Neil Gaiman and his main works. This part also concentrates on the structure of the rites of passage (Gennep) and on the theme of the test/crisis as an inevitable part of the protagonist's search for his own identity. The practical part of the diploma thesis analyses the stories of Gaiman's protagonists as examples of the initiation that takes place in three main phases: the preliminal, the liminal and the postliminal phase. The specific function of the time-space relations (the motifs of the old house and the cemetery as a border/limit) is described in the same way. The conclusion considers the meaning of escape to another world as an important experience and a part of the journey to adulthood, which helps the protagonists to accept the real world, to find their own place in it and to appreciate the value of real interpersonal relationships.

The History of 20th Century Philosophy (Science and its Applications in Philosophy)

This diploma thesis is a free continuation of my year work in philosophy from 2003 on the topic of "Relativity", which is available for inspection at the Department of Social Sciences at the Faculty of Education, University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice. I also draw from my work from the same year, which was prepared at the same faculty, at the Department of Art Education, under the guidance of Mgr. Zdeněk Hosman, and from the work from 2004 also prepared at this department, which is entitled "Interpretation of the image Hypnotist". Now to present the diploma thesis itself. Albert Einstein has written a number of commendable and less flattering literature on the esteemed physicist. It goes without saying that he was a unique man with an overly clever head, and his views became the pearl of our planet. When reading his works, one has such interesting thoughts that are hard to resist. I couldn't resist this summer of 2002, when one day I read his laws of relativity. Relativity became a liberation for me from my mental states and made me think about the problem of birth, life and death. The idea that came to my mind in this study means for me the opportunity to admit that our lives are not meaningless. In my work, I would first like to begin with Einstein's life itself and work, so that the reader can get to the issues I am opening here more easily and quickly. I will try to ensure that the part of my work that deals with the mere interpretation of what has already been explained does not become boring. I will present the author's life here not only from the well-known media side, but I will also choose interesting things that will surely surprise readers many times. Of course, I will present the special and general theory of relativity (both of these beautiful ladies) not only from a complex physical point of view, but I will try to move the focus to a philosophical interpretation that is much closer to me and which also becomes the culmination of my thoughts. I am still writing this introduction in a situation where my thoughts on paper are not completely complete and I am still groping for verbal expressions. What is my intention? Which way do I want to go?

The Depicture of the Middle Ages in the Prokop Chocholoušek's Work

The bachelor's essay deals with the historical proses of Prokop Chocholoušek with emphasis on those of the Czech middle ages. The goal has been to find and elaborate on characteristics of the authors work and establish his place in the Czech romantic prose context. The results are posted in several chapters. The essay consists of brief biography of P. Chocholoušek, outline of changes in historical prose during the National Revival and comparison of Prokop Chocholoušek with other historical prose writers. Furthermore, it contains summary of selected texts, analysis of the character-creation patterns, ways of space-time depiction, and patriotism and educational tendencies featured in the work.

Mummy Mill - a Postmodern Utopia of Magical Prague

This very writing is examining the two ultimate books "Mlýn na mumie" from the talented Petr Stančík, and "Sedmikostelí" and "Lord Mord" from the extremely obscure Miloš Urban. The main and most significant purpose of this work is to find and distinguish characteristics of each author, diving deeper into their unique styles, finding possible similarities while trying to learn about one of the very few raw original writing styles. Despite the books being multi-genre, they do try to characterize the exact genres along the way, after a proper introduction of the authors themselves, of course. The genres appearing in these books are clearly shown in individual excerpts below original text. A dominant part of my work is an analysis of the time space and the main character or hero if you prefer - again shown in excerpts as key parts of novels. Towards the end you can find the so-called great myth of the nation as a frequently repeated topic. By the conclusion of this work is a final comparison of previous analyses.

Rhythmanalysis and the changes of the place: Rašín riverside embankment

This thesis deals with the analysis of rhythms (Lefebvre 2004) at Prague's Rašín Embankment (náplavka Rašínova nábřeží). This thesis would also focus on the observation of the spatiotemporal changes of this place in a long term. I carried out qualitative interviews with actors who co-create the rhythms of this place with their managerial and entrepreneurial activities and added them to long-term continual visits and sensory perception of the place, along with the study of specialized historical publications. The analysis of the rhythms based on long-term participant observation was followed by an interpretation of what they actually tell us about everyday social reality of this place at specific times and how this space is produced by those rhythms. In this thesis I also used related concepts like chronotope (Crang, 2001; Osman, Mulíček, Seidenglanz, 2010, 2015) and chronopolis (Osman, Mulíček, Seidenglanz 2011, 2017). This thesis shows that nowadays the eurhythmia of this place is created by non- disruptive movement of local visitors such as walkers, runners and cyclists along the embankment, by regularly organized farmers' market and other events as well as by the flow of the Vltava river and its rhythms, by all means of transport on the local roads, bridges and the Vltava river. Reading for women in the Lada magazine

The diploma thesis deals with the profile of fiction published in the magazine Lada on the turn of the nineteenth century into the twentieth. The chosen representative sample of six volumes stretching over the period of twenty years was thoroughly analyzed, focusing on the most important aspects of the individual prosaic contributions, which are the following: the theme, both the main and the supporting characters, the plots, the time and space dimension of the stories, the autor's style, the tuning of proses and their belonging to different artistic movements. Another perspective of interest to this project is the author's background, its changes over time and its influence on the overall orientation and appearance of the magazine, with the overall characteristics of it also included. The deeper, intellectual background reflected in the individual proses is also discussed. Given the fact that the publishing timeline extends over two different historical epochs, this final thesis strives to find answers to the question of to which extent the author's thinking was influenced by the historically social context, i.e. to what degree the authors adopt the modern, progressive ideas of the newly shaping society of the twentieth century, and conversely, to what extent both their opinions and thinking are...
