Český Těšín Bus Terminal - Reconstruction Study

The aim of the Diploma thesis is a study of the reconstruction of the bus station in the Český Těšín. This thesis deals with designing a suitable arrangement of bus stops. Part of the thesis are also adjustments to existing parking areas, adjustments of roads for pedestrians and a suitable proposal for the use of the remaining area.

The aim of my diploma project was to find a concept for a future use of the area between Jablunkovská and Frydecká streets in Český Těšín. My urban design evaluates the potential of an area and allows future expanse of the city. In the detail I focused on a revitalization of the old factory building which has no use for about last 20 years.

Exploration of The Current State of The Silesian Regional Identity by Inhabitants of Český Těšín and Cieszyn

This thesis explores the current state of the Silesian regional identity in the inhabitants of the cities Český Těšín in Czechia and Cieszyn in Poland. It explores and analyses the dynamics of Silesian regional identity in the context of the official Czech and Polish national identity. It does so in relation to the territory of the historical region of Těšín. More specifically, it uses the case of the historical town of Těšín, today's Český Těšín and Cieszyn, which it examines simultaneously. The thesis thus focuses on tracing the development of Silesian regional identity and addresses the factors that may influence it. It does so by means of a questionnaire survey and subsequent evaluation of the data obtained through statistical analysis. It also deals with intergenerational differences in the perception of this identity in the context of the use of the Těšín dialect. The findings will help us uncover factors that may influence the local Silesian regional identity and thus enable us to understand it better. Overall, the thesis shows hat the identity of the inhabitants of Český Těšín/Cieszyn is very complex and is influenced by history, ethnic diction, place, and cultural ties, with the Těšín dialect and family ties playing a key role in maintaining this regional identity. United cities - different memory: places of memory and their perception in the divided cities of Český Těšín and Cieszyn

The divided cities of Český Těšín and Cieszyn are a place where different nations, ethnicities and religions mingled for centuries. Naturally, different historical narratives also collide here. This thesis focuses on qualitative research of the change in the perception of places of memory, in which the collective memory of individual groups of residents of Český Těšín and Cieszyn crystallizes. The thesis engages with the main hypothesis that the perception of these places changes over time, and one of the crucial impulses to this change was the involvement of the Czech Republic and Poland in the European integration process. The semi-structured interviews with representatives of cultural, social and political life in both cities serve as primary sources. Based on the interviews, the Olza/Olše border river, the Slezanka and the Czechoslovak Border Demarcation monuments commemorating the division of the two cities in 1920, the Jewish necropolises and the German graves in the communal cemeteries, and the Cieszyn tram came to the fore. The influence of the European integration process on the transformation of the perception of the places of memory is most evident in the case of the river Olza/Olše and the Cieszyn tram. This thesis is presenting actual state of vocabulary in common speech of the youngest generation in Český Těšín. The purpose of the research is to recognize and describe development and changes of word stock according to the research questionnare. The work includes theoretical part which elucidate charakteristics of main terms based on the review of the literature. The survey results are compared with state noticed in Český jazykový atlas and with sample of the oldest and middle generation.
