It aims to analyze the subject matter of the whole spectrum of his works. His writings attest to the life of this German-speaking teacher, tutor and professor as well as scholar. Equally, they show the cultural and historical development at the time when the patriotism in the Habsburg monarchy begun to evolve. In the thesis Mainert's texts are divided into groups according to their genres and recurring themes and motives. Next, the texts are analyzed by comparison with the information occurring in the secondary literature and the preserved fragments of Meinert's diaries. The results of the analysis confirm that Meinert's creations authentically documented the historical, political and cultural circumstances of that time. The creations influenced not only the patriotically thinking fellows and writers in the Austrian, Czech and German lands, but as an editor he also had influence on the less educated readers of his journals. Meinert's writings were mostly received positively. His poetic work related to the negatively perceived historical events can be seen as an exception. Above that, the analysis showed that...

The second part is based on documentary materials and it incorporated the analysis of macro and micro- structure. The macro-structure analysis is based on, according to using formulae, model structure of analysed documents, that is consequently used as a starting structure for analysis of micro-structure. Micro-structure analysis provides the way, which the linguistic means are in particular parts formulated. From results of my work is evident, that the structure of the documents keeps the reliable example that is a bit different from initial structure. Structure of the royal documents shows, in contrary to the municipal documents, bigger stability both in arrangement and using formulae as well as their language formulations. Jakubcová, Lucie ; Vodrážková, Lenka (advisor) ; Šouša, Jiří (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the diachronic analysis of the Town Law Book of Rokytnice situated in the Eagle Mountains. The work is divided into two parts. The first part is focused on the general introduction to the history of the city, the history of the municipal administration and urban books and the problem of the office language. The second part describes the analysed source, followed by its editorial and lexical analysis. Editorial analysis is focused on the records of purchase and payment in order to determine whether the types of text were written in a standard format. Lexical analysis is aimed at the legal terms. It was found that the unified pattern of the purchase record existed only within an individual scribe, not for the entire Town Law Book. Pattern of payment records varies even within the same scribe. From the editorial point of view it was found out that the legal terms in the law book were mainly described within the municipal administration and business terminology. On the other hand, Latin expressions were used only very rarely. KEYWORDS German Language, Historical Linguistics, Bohemia, 17th Century

German texts by some representatives of national revival in the Czech lands of the 19th century, because of aspects of historical linguistics
Švrčková, Helena ; Vodrážková, Lenka (advisor) ; Tvrdík, Milan (referee)
In the first half of the 19th century, the emancipation efforts of the ethnic groups living under domination of bigger nations grew stronger. Emancipation movements were influenced by the humanistic ideas of Johann Gottfried Herder, proclaiming the language as the most important characteristic feature of a nation and that every nation has the natural right to claim it's identity. Motivated by these concepts, the Czechs identified the enforcement of Czech language with the fight for the nation. This Diploma thesis deals with the textual analysis of the German manuscripts by the Czech revivalists Karel Alois Vinařický, František Palacký and Pavel Josef Šafařík, regarding the state of education in the Czech lands and the comparison between these manuscripts. The textual analysis (Brinker: 2001) reflects the communication field, the purpose of writing the text, circumstances of their creation, the role of the emittent and the recipient and finally the intention of the author, which is related with the indenfitication of the text function. All texts contain elements of the text type "language defense". The consideration of the lexemes with the help of the contemporary dictionaries (Adelung, Grimma, Jungmann), etymological dictionary (Pfeifer) and Duden (2006) focuses on the semantic field of National...
Graphemics in the German documents of Václav IV 1379-1399
Bartůňková, Alena ; Ebelová, Ivana (referee) ; Vodrážková, Lenka (advisor)
The goal of this thesis is twofold. On the one hand I try to determine a system in the use of the graphemes in the documents of Vac1av IV. from the years 1379-1399 and I confront the findings with the use of the graphemes in the Middle Upper German (Mittelhochdeutsch). On the other hand, I compare these results with the use ofthe graphemes in the early Upper German (Frühneuhochdeutsch) as described in the literature, in particular in 1. T. Piirainen, V. Moser, H.Bokova, L.E. Schmitt and V.E. Mourek. The first chapter describes the period of reign of Vac1av IV as weIl as the personality ofthe ruler. The second chapter deals with the court ofVac1av IV. with a particular emphasis on the language situation at the court. Further, Vac1av IV.'s chancellery is characterized in the chapter three as apart of the court and I also shortly describe its history, structure as weIl as the competence of its members. Chapter five is devoted to documents as objects of a study; thus, first I define and c1assify different types of docurnents and second, I indicate the relevant features both in the form of the document and its content. The next chapter describes the status of the early Upper German (Fruhneuhochdeutsch) as it emerges from the literature. The seventh chapter lists the documents of Vac1av IV. between the years 13...
