Study of barrier and transport properties of polyelectrolytes using diffusion techniques in hydrogels
Valentová, Kristýna ; Kalina, Michal (referee) ; Smilek, Jiří (advisor)
This diploma thesis was focused on study of barrier and transport properties of selected polyelectrolytes in hydrogel matrices by using diffusion techniques. The study of these properties was performed in horizontal diffusion cells where is observed the change in diffusion probe concentration over time. Diffusion experiments were performed on an agarose hydrogel with the addition of alginate, hyaluronic acid, polystyrene sulfonate, humic acids and as a model probe rhodamine 6G was used. Important parts of this thesis are also the methods which characterize the substances and hydrogel matrices such as rheology and potentiometric titration. The main aim of this diploma thesis was to investigate the effect of interactions between passing model dye (rhodamine 6G) and the appropriate gel (agarose + polyelectrolyte) on the fundamental diffusion parameters (effective diffusion coefficient, lag time, etc.).
Characterization of hyaluronan interactions with albumin
Valentová, Kristýna ; Kratochvílová, Romana (referee) ; Chytil, Martin (advisor)
This bachelor thesis focuses on the research of physical interactions between hyaluronic acid and a protein albumin. In order to investigate these interactions following methods were used: pH and conductivity measurement, viscosimetry, turbidimetry and rheometry. The interactions were observed in solutions of fixed albumin concentration 1.0 gdm-3 and varying concentrations of hyaluronic acid from 0.1 to 2.0 gdm-3. Results were compared with a solution of hyaluronic acid without the addition of albumin. The results show that there are interactions between hyaluronic acid and albumin solutions, especially for those containing high molecular weight hyaluronic acid. The interactions exhibited a change in viscosity of solutions. We can see a reduction in viscosity after adding albumin to the reference solutions. The reduction is noticeable even in the low molecular weight HA solutions, but is not so significant.
Family and Divorce
Valentová, Kristýna ; Lhotová, Marie (advisor) ; Polívka, Jan (referee)
The work "The Family and The Divorce" (Rodina a rozvod) discourses the problem of divorce - how it manifests in family life, life of the family members and especially the children. It is divided into six chapters. The first three chapters are talking about family and its necessity for life of every human being and about marriage and how to solve the marital problems constructively. The last three chapters concern divorce and problems linked with it. In the part concerning family the author writes about functions of a family, its evolution and actual situation of families in the Czech Republic. She deals with the importance of a family and its functionality for individual development. The author talks about divorce from the point of view of law, society and psychology and particularly discourses the child - possible consequences of divorce in child psychic and probably the best way for child - joint custody. On the other hand she discourses the Parental alienation syndrome, why and how it arises and how to reduce its effects. The work's targets define the most important problems which the child solves in connection with divorce of his or her parents. Is the divorce always stressful? Should the parents do anything to make the divorce "more comfortable" for their child or children? There are some questions the...
People with mental handicap on the employment market in the Czech Republic
Valentová, Kristýna ; Čabanová, Bohumila (advisor) ; Tomášková, Vladimíra (referee)
Diploma thesis "People with mental handicap on the employment market in the Czech Republic" deals with employment services offered to people with disabilities - especially with mental disabilities - in Czech Republic. Low employment of the people with mental handicap is discussed as all-society problem deepening the social exclusion of these people in addition to burdening national budget. Diploma thesis analyzes employment services which state provides and compares it with non-governmental organizations' services. It targets strengths of both types of these services and possibilities of connection and aims at solutions of low employment problem of people with mental disabilities. Interviews with stakeholders participating at solutions of this problem are also parts of diploma thesis.
Ecological ethics
Valentová, Kristýna ; Hogenová, Anna (advisor) ; Rybák, David (referee)
The issue of ecological ethics has often been discussed because it is important for the development of further generations. Nature and culture are not at the same level, yet culture is subordinate to nature. Because of human influence, the harmony of nature is endangered and we live in an ecological crisis. This master's thesis compares the opinions of experts in Czech environment who perceive the ecological ethics, collisions of nature and culture and environmental sphere from the point of philosophy. In the first part, there is a theoretical basis of ecological ethics and the elementary classification. Further, the development of ecological ethics in the Czech phylosophical thinking is presented. In the main part, the author always explores two selected ideas of Czech professionals - Erazim Kohák, Josef Šmajs, Hana Librová, Petr Jemelka and Jan Patočka. The conclusion of the thesis is that although all the authors come from various conceptions, their results are more or less corresponding. It is fundamental to accept a personal responsibility and not to long for power and profit. It is imporant to indicate and become aware of ecological crisis and start to solve it on our own at first (e. g. by voluntary modesty and awareness that we leave a legacy for further generations). We do not need to live...
International Effort to Eliminate Discrimination Based on Caste in India
Valentová, Kristýna ; Zemanová, Štěpánka (advisor) ; Burešová, Jana (referee)
The bachelor thesis deals with international reaction to the violation of human rights in the form of caste discrimination in India. The main aim of the thesis is to identify instruments of the human rights policy used towards India by two international governmental organizations, namely the United Nations (UN) and the European Union (EU). The first part of the thesis concerns with theoretical definition of the human rights policy instruments. To better understand the issue of caste discrimination, in the second chapter the thesis looks at the caste system in India and the Indian legislation related to castes. Next chapters study specific reactions of the UN and the EU and the instruments that have been applied by both organizations.

This thesis deals with problems of European structural funds, especially it is focused on utilisation of the financial resources of the European Social Fund from 2004 to 2006. The first part of the thesis is a theoretical view of the economics on the regional policy. Following part is a description of the structural funds system and then there is an evaluation of the effectivity of the structural funds on the base of one soft project, which was realized in the Prague by non-profit organization established by Magistrate of Prague. In conclusion I discuss advantages and disadvantages of the European structural funds.
