The thesis The principal's role in improving the quality of school involved in the project "We help schools towards success" focuses on roles of the school principal as a leader and manager, that influence the improvement of school quality. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part focuses on school quality, its indicators, management areas and evaluation criteria. It also brings theoretical knowledge about the school principal, his competence in his role of a leader and manager and about the project "We help school towards success" The practical part investigates which criteria parents considered while selecting a school for their children and what they understand by the term "quality school". It also analyzes what activities carried out by the school principal in his role of a leader and manager are in the eyes of teachers and parents the most important ones for the improvement of school quality and how the respondents assess the contribution of school involvement in the project "We help schools towards success". Applying of personality traits of headteacher in area of leadership

Final thesis describes to what extent the current school practice puts attention to personality qualities of headteacher in area of leadership. The topic is based on the experience, knowledge and abilities that use the present headmasters of elementary schools in practice. The aim of the work and selected combined investigation using methods of "shadowing" of structured and unstructured interviews and a questionnaire survey was to describe the extent to which personal qualities headteacher of elementary schools appear in contemporary educational practice in area of leadership. In the theoretical part, the author focused on gathering information from a wide resource that can provide a wider range of these areas (psychology, leadership, self-management, self-esteem, etc.). These were mainly the vocational literature on leadership, human personality and competencies. An important contribution was a personal meeting and interview with Mr. Prof. PhDr. Z. Helusem, DrSc. (interview captured in the theoretical part), which anchored the personal qualities mentioned as one of the prerequisites for a successful life and being a human in personal and professional life. Impact of CSI activities on practice in primary schools in Prague

The Czech School Inspectorate (CSI) is the only institution responsible for external evaluation of educational system in the Czech Republic. Its main purpose is improving the quality of education provided. The aim of the diploma thesis is to describe different CSI's activities and to find out which of them and how influence practice of primary schools in Prague. The results of the analysis of questionnaires, interviews with some headteachers and Deputy Chief School Inspector's comment show that majority of headteacher respondents act upon school inspection report, take inspectors' advice into consideration and follow them. The CSI also influences schools indirectly: by setting Criteria for Evaluation of Conditions, Course and Outcomes of Education by stakeholder pressure by publishing of numerous outputs by means of InspIS SET system The research shows that most headteacher respondents consider school inspections to be important for them. Competence of bilingual assistant

The aim is to map out the scope of the jurisdiction of a bilingual teacher's assistant competencies and compare with the statutory definition. The work is divided into three thematic sections, two are part of the theoretical and one empirical part. The first theoretical part is divided into a section dedicated to migration in the Czech lands and a section dedicated to the education of foreigners from different perspectives. The second theoretical part deals with the position of assistant teacher, competencies and in a separate section also bilingual teacher assistants. The third part is dedicated to research, under which the method of shadowing as well as through personal interviews obtained relevant data, all of which were after processing and analyzing the conclusions drawn, which were subsequently compares with the original assumption. The last part of this work is the conclusion conceived primarily as a summary of the results and knowledge gained in the research and mutual comparison in line with the aim of this work.

Comparison of managerial competencies headmaster and manager in the commercial sector

Final thesis presents a comparison of managerial competencies of headmaster of elementary school with middle management manager in the commercial sector in the area of leadership. The issue is based on experience, knowledge and skills of the current headmasters of the primary schools and middle management managers within their managerial competencies. The aim of the work and chosen qualitative research using of methodology "shadowing", which comes from all day observable behavior is to compare specific managerial skills among primary school headmaster and manager of middle management in the commercial sector in area of leadership. By comparison of the specific managerial competencies we will be able to compare the level, purpose and importance of the specific managerial competencies to the primary school headmaster and manager of middle management of the commercial sector. School Board in the management of school

The aim of this thesis was to determine to what extent and in what areas the school board controls affects the work of the school principal. The operational objective was to specify the problematic areas of the relationship from the perspective of the school principal and suggest how their effects mitigated or eliminated. Respondents of empirical research using questionnaires and semi-structured interviews were directors of elementary and secondary schools, established by the Central Bohemia Region. The aim of the research was to obtain the most comprehensive description of the relationship between the school board and school management system. The results of the survey can be used in particular to seek ways and other opportunities for cooperation between the school principal and the school board so that their actions helped to improve the quality of management of the school principal. They can also be used as a basis for more efficient operation of the School Board itself. The survey results can be used and founder of the school as an oportunity to improve the working conditions of school management.
