Nikodem, Pavel ; Trampota, Tomáš (advisor) ; Křeček, Jan (referee)
The submitted Bachelor paper analyses media coverage of the European Parliament Elections in 2009 on special thematic webpages of Guardian (United Kingdom), Idnes (Czech Republic), IrishTimes (Ireland), DiePresse (Austria), Sme (Slovakia), Sueddeutsche (Germany) and Wyborcza (Poland). The work is based on quantitative media content analysis. Firstly, europeanization of media content is measured. The results show that news are framed prediminantly as a national event and that national actors in the news prevail. Secondly, the media organizations strategy towards the coverage of the EP elections are discussed based on the scale sacerdotal vs. pragmatic approach. Despite the second-order character of EP elections examples of sacerdotal approach are found. Thirdly, the concept of depolitization of politics in media contents is discussed. Results support the trend towards depolitization. Share of news featuring political programmes and candidates is limited compared with other types of news.
Construction of modern patriarchate in magazines for mens and family
Huněk, Filip ; Osvaldová, Barbora (referee) ; Trampota, Tomáš (advisor)
Central question of this dissertation thesis is, whether magazines in the Czech Republic reproduce such mechanisms of masculinities representations in their content which simultaneously construct modern patriarchal structures. Qualitative discourse analysis was chosen as the key method and the dissertation thesis researches six issues of men's lifestyle magazine Maxim and six issues of family magazine Květy. As a primary proposition was an idea that the patriarchal mechanisms of current society might be necessarily included in the content of both magazines, no matter what genre they are, and that those mechanisms might differ from each other only in their shape. Result of this dissertation thesis is verification of chosen proposition. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Subject analysis of cultural columns in Mladá fronta newspaper in the consequence of social changes after 1989
Valjarevićová, Eva ; Köpplová, Barbara (advisor) ; Trampota, Tomáš (referee)
Before my analysis of cultural column in the newspaper Mlada Fronta Dnes, I asked a few questions and I set a hypothesis. I was curious, how the cultural page in the newspaper was influenced by american culture. In determined years 1992, 1996 and 2000, from four to eleven years after the 1989 velvet revolution in Czechoslovakia, followed by the change of political regime, I analyzed, to what extend are film, literature and fine arts published in the newspaper and also what space the cultural column actually takes. The definition of "popular" as conceived by theoreticians and consumers of popular culture (on the example of the use of the terms "popular music" and "pop")
Slívová, Hana ; Reifová, Irena (advisor) ; Trampota, Tomáš (referee)
This disertation named The Definition of "Popular" as Conceived by Theoreticians and Consumers of Popular Culture (On the example of the Use of the Terms ..Popular Music" and ..Pop") aims to present the ideas of four theoreticians of popular culture - John Storey, Theodor W. Adorno. Dwight Macdonald and John Fiske - in order to define what do the terms ..popular" and ..pop" mean, mainly in the context with music. As it has shown, the definition of what pop and popular migh be is not as easy and unambiguous. The conception of these terms differ from one theoretician to another as they conceive it from different point of view. This point of view might be influenced by their political orientation, period of their lifetime and experience. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
The Integrated Communication Model Paradigm
Sládeček, Peter ; Mucha, Ivan (advisor) ; Trampota, Tomáš (referee)
Summarizing the thesis in a brief manner demands reduction of the thoughts and concepts presented in it. Therefore, the main aim of this summary is to relate the terminology we had to establish in our theoretical research of communication from a system-theory perspective. We have built our approach in three main directions: 1. Dynamical system theory with its regards to autopoiesis, enthropy and bifurcations. 2. Second-order cybernetics, where we have adopted the concept of mutual influence between object and subject in research - meta-cybernetics. 3. Adressing social theories presented by Niklas Luhmann, Ulrich Beck, Anthony Giddens, Zygmunt Bauman and few others. The central question of our project is whether the application of the system approach to communication studies could lead to a paradigm. During the period of our MA degree programme, we encountered many attempts to connect communication models into one working mechanism. However, even with its terminology adjusted to the goal, media and communication science preserved a notion of structuralism or succeeded to incorporate system theory in just one field of interest (depending on authors' qualifications), but denying wider associations. One school of communication research that has reached a considerable level of integration is that of Cultural...
The media picture of islam in specified Czech printed media in the year 2003
Bílý, Petr ; Trampota, Tomáš (advisor) ; Wolák, Radim (referee)
It is everytime very hard to find out the exact effects of mass communication on the publics, but it is at least possible to think about some meaning potentials of acts of mass communication. One of the ways how to give to a researcher a qualified possibility to analyse and predict possible meaning potentials is to let him use the results of content analysis done according to the rules of methodology for this research method. To analyse the possible impacts of media reporting (in a stereotypical way) about one of the biggest World religions is much more hard because of existence of a big amount of side chanels of influences that come to the process of recognition of the media contents. Semiosphere of media campaigns for referendum on accession of the Czech Republic to the EU
Knotová, Markéta ; Šoltys, Otakar (advisor) ; Trampota, Tomáš (referee)
The aim of this thesis was to analyse certain parts of promotional campaign for referendum on accession of the CR to the EU. The media campaign took place in May and June 2003 and the referendum was held on 13th and 14th June, 2003. I chose five representative ads, three of them being television spots, one radio spot and one poster, which were published in various Czech media during May and June 2003.197 More precisely, they were three pieces (tv spot, radio spot and poster) made by government of the CR198, one piece made by public-service Czech television and one spot made by commercial Nova television. This division makes it clear that I distinguish governmental activities from activities of the media. The thesis was mainly focused on the governmental campaign and the other two spots were there to bring some comparison. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
