Impact of the ETS on human health

The aim of this paper is to summarize harmful effects of tobacco smoke on human health, using recent studies of international significance level. It also brings the potential risks which may ETS cause, particularly cardiovascular disease and the effects of passive smoking, but many other diseases associated with indoor pollution caused by tobacco smoke. This work also deals with the chemical and physical composition, indicating the pollutant, the differences of the individual components and the methods by which the smoke exposure is investigated. The aim is to present the frequently discussed issues related to indoor environment and human health, as well as air pollution indoors. Finally, the thesis will outline economic damage and describe the situation and legal standards associated with passive smoking in the Czech Republic.

Deposition of Titania from Solution by Hybrid Water-Stabilized Plasma Torch

Thermal spraying with liquid feedstock presents a novel route for deposition of functional coatings. In this study, possibility of preparation of titania coatings from solution by hybrid water stabilized plasma torch is presented. Coatings were prepared from solution of titanium isopropoxide Ti[OCH(CH3)2]4 in anhydrous ethanol. Fragmentation of feedstock stream in the plasma jet was monitored by shadowgraphy. Deposition was carried out on steel samples mounted to the cooled rotating carousel. Cross-sectional images from SEM microscope showed successful formation of the deposit with dual morphology consisting of fine feather-like features combined with bigger droplets. X-ray diffraction revealed formation of nanometric rutile crystallites.

Plasma spraying from liquids: plasma liquid interaction and coating build up

Plasma spraying from liquid feedstocks is a rapidly developing field of thermal spraying since the coatings prepared from liquids exhibit some unique features, such as high hardness, thermal shock resistance or low thermal and electric conductivity. The key factor influencing the final coating character and properties is the input material which may be in the form of a suspension or a solution. Parameters of the selected suspension (solids concentration, viscosity, surface tension, chemical composition, etc.) or solution (concentration, etc.) determine its interaction with the plasma jet which strongly influences the coating buildup. This proceeding introduces the problematics of the interaction between the liquid feedstock material with the plasma jet and presents the way of evaluation of the coating buildup.

The description and evaluation of the automation of selected technologies used for milking cattle

This Bachelor thesis is focused on automatic and conventional systems of milking cattle and further to compare fully automatic and less automatic milking systems for the cattle. In first chapter are listed basic legal standards, characteristic of milk and description of the basic elements of the milking equipment. In second chapter is described milking equipment, which are used for milking cattle. In third chapter is described milking using technology of milking robot and milking with operator. In last chapter is listed its own evaluation of individual used technologies and technological equipment with respect to the automation of selected activities.

Methodology of Evaluation of Employees

This project is dealing with an analysis of an employee evaluation systém in 2K Czech, a.s.. After a short introduction of the company I Focused on a detailed analysis of their current evaluation system. My main aim was to identify evaluators and evaluated employees, evaluating kriteria and the procces of evaluation itself. I also mention the posibility of using the evaluation process results. In the second part of the project I affer suggestions that could komplete the current evalution systém of the company.

The Master’s thesis follows the problem of effective and quality utilization of human potential in chosen organisation. This includes especially identification of the need concerning implementation of employees’ evaluation complex system, related operation setting and it’s possible implementation. The emphasis is put on the utilization of results, which came from this evaluation, for increase of motivation, quality and human work effectiveness.

First experiments with suspension sprayed coatings of Al2O3 using hybrid plasma torch

Hybrid water stabilized plasmatron WSP-H represents an interesting alternative to common torches for thermal spraying, because it provides a unique combination of plasma velocity and enthalpy available for material processing. In this paper, influence of deposition parameters on coating characteristics was studied. Nanometric Al2O3 powder dispersed in ethanol was used as a model material. The coating was examined by scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction and the results showed clear dependence of microstructure and phase composition on spraying distance and feed rate of the suspension. Results are promising for further optimization of the deposition process.

Profitability analysis of 3D in movies

The main hypothesis of this dissertation says that movies which are shown in cinemas in 2D and also 3D version have greater box office than movies which are shown only in 2D version. The model with two simultaneous equations was constructed to confirm or reject this hypothesis. Data set includes movies which had wide release between January 2009 and December 2011 in the USA. The results show that 3D has no influence in the first week but there are negative significant effect on the number of screens, which could be connected with insufficient capacity of technologically equipped screens, and positive significant effect on revenues in the next nine weeks. The model includes other important and significant factors influencing revenues and the thesis compares these results with recent literature dealing with this topic.

Effect of excise tax on consumption of cigarette in UK

The European Union has been solving for years the problem of huge number of smokers among European population. The EU is creating laws banning advertising of tobacco products and smoking in public places. United Kingdom is struggling against consumption of cigarettes through ratifying these laws since late nineties, together with another policy of increasing taxes and informative campaigns. In this thesis I am describing several econometric approaches in this paper in order to find how big is the effect of excise tax on consumption of cigarette in past 15 years. In the second model I included other variables such as ban of advertisement, expenditures on treatment of addicts, employment, GDP, population. The results show that the most significant variables are the ban of advertisement, the ban of smoking and the employment.

Monitoring spokojenosti zákazníků v Oční optice Iveta Šefčíková

Teoretická část charakterizuje spokojeného zákazníka, základní principy péče o zákazníka i vytváření prostředí pro spokojeného zákazníka. Dále tato část pojednává o loajalitě, kvalitě, jedním z nejdůležitějších atributů spokojenosti zákazníka a zdůrazňuje specifika služeb, jenž na spokojenost zákazníků působící. Pomocí písemného dotazování byla zjištěna pravidelnost návštěvy prodejen očních optik obecně, i pravidelnost návštěvy Oční optiky I. Š., jaká kritéria jsou zásadní pro volbu prodejny oční optiky, jak jsou respondenti spokojeni s šíří poskytovaných produktů a služeb, pracovníky, prostředím i výší cen v Oční optice I.Š., zda by respondenti v Oční optice I.Š. něco měnili a zda by služby Ivety Šefčíkové doporučili svým známým. Na základě analýzy dotazníků byl sestaven návrh pro zlepšení.
