This bachelor thesis is concerned with the specific effects which have been brought by digitalization. The topic of this work is photoblogs representing the new viewing platform. This work follows both the history of digital photography and changing of photojournalistic practices. In the first part there is an exploration of advantages and disadvantages of digital photography especially reflecting the progress from analogue photography toward the digital one. The emphasis is placed on photographic fakes and questioning photography as the true medium. This bachelor thesis also contains the interview with Ami Vitale talking about the multimedia as photographic tool. The second interview with Jan Ždimera explains the process of photoediting at ČTK, which shows the differences between traditional news agency and internet blog of street journalism represented by Demotix. The final part is dedicated to comparing ZoneZero and Magnum blog. This practical part is focused on each difference between ZoneZero and Magnum blog. This paper aims to highlight the developments and changes which photography went through with a special focus on the photoblog. These changes formed the guidelines, which draws on modern photography and in conjunction with the Internet reached a mass scale. Bachelor's thesis describes the...
The photography in the Respekt Magazine
Svatá, Kristýna ; Lábová, Alena (advisor) ; Turek, Pavel (referee)
Bachelor thesis "The Photography in the Respekt magazine" deals with using photographies in this medium. It emphasizes the period of the first half of the year 2006, when the magazine serialized as a broadsheet, and the period of the first half of the year 2008, when it changed its format to the magazines' one. The purpose of this thesis is to subscribe, how the redaction deals with the pictorial part of the magazine's content - it observes what is behind the creation and what happens with pictures before they are published. It subscribes the role of the photographer and the picture editor as well. The next issue, which is pointed out, is the analysis of the photographic content in both periods under consideration. It shows changes which were connected with the formats' change, with new possibilities for photography in the magazine. This analytical part of my thesis is led by the chapters which present the history and the contemporary version of the Respekt magazine. The next chapter deals with photojournalism and its classification.
Czech Press Photo 1995-2005 : picture content analysis of winning photographies in General News and Spot News categories
Vitoušová, Valérie ; Turek, Pavel (referee) ; Lábová, Alena (advisor)
Bachelor thesis "CZECH PRESS PHOTO 1995 - 2005: Picture content analysis of winning photographies in General News and Spot News categories" deals with the content of the photographies, which have won first eleven yearly awards of the photographic contest Czech Press Photo in the categories General News and Spot News. The aim of this work is to analyse, which events were so important that they gave rise to the winning photographies and which topics frequently appeared in the pictures. The second monitored aspect is the photography's location of origin and probation or refutation of the hypothesis, whether the local events provide enough visually appealing events or whether the photographers have to seek the photographic topics abroad.
Karel Hájek - photographer, theorist, organizer

Bachelor thesis "Czech sports photojournalism in the sixties of the 20th century" deals about a stage and trend of sports photojournalism in Czechoslovakia in sixties. The thesis brings medailons of three famous czech sports photojournalists Antonín Bahenský, Jaroslav Skála and Dalibor Richter. The thesis brings a content visual analysis of the select photos taken by these photographs and analyses work of editors with pictures from the popular czech sports magazine Stadion in 1959 and in 1969.
The photo editor as a gatekeeper
Vodáková, Lucie ; Turek, Pavel (referee) ; Láb, Filip (advisor)
Bachelor thesis deals with the work of Czech photo editors in a daily and weekly papers. The work analyzes what their function in media is, what their common day looks like, who they are speaking with and then what their daily decisions about photographs are. The first chapters describe the role of photo editors as gatekeepers. I try to compare what was their job earlier, when the time of technological convergence didn't exist. I deal with a photo editing practicies like searching, selection and gathering materials too. The second analytic part consist of the deep interviews with photo editors and other members of newsroom. I compare their information with the information of foreign media books. The object of the thesis is to show on six chosen important Czech daily and weekly papers how the photo editors work, what is their leading role and whether they are important for the organization or not.
Preparation of 6-Aryl- a 6-Heteroarylpurines by [2+2+2] -Cyclotrimerizations

Preparation of 6-Aryl- and 6-Heteroarylpurines by [2+2+2]-Cyclotrimerizations
Turek, Pavel
Preparation of 6-Aryl- and 6-Heteroarylpurines by [2+2+2]- Cyclotrimerizations Mgr. Pavel Turek Dept. of Organic and Nuclear Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Charles University Prague 2009 The aim of my project was to synthesize new potentially biologically active arylpurines by transition metal catalyzed or mediated [2+2+2]-cyclotrimerization reactions. This approach should enable to assemble various structural motives attached to the purine skeleton. The main targets were 6-arylpurines. 6-Arylpurine derivatives have diverse types of a biological activity: some substituted 6-arylpurine bases are antagonists of corticotropin-releasing hormone or possess antimycobacterial and antibacterial activity, while 6-arylpurine ribonucleosides are potent cytostatics. These facts explain, why it is worth being interested in synthesis of this class of compounds. Until now 6-arylpurines have been mostly prepared by cross-coupling reactions of 6- halopurines with various organometallic compounds, but this approach is limited by factors like availability, reactivity and stability of the corresponding arylmetals. The synthetic strategy used in my project was based on a transition metal catalyzed or mediated cyclotrimerization of alkynes. Generally, these methods enable to assemble aromatic and heteroaromatic compounds from...

Community policing in view of the public and the policemen of the Police of the Czech Republic in Prachatice
TUREK, Pavel
The bachelor thesis addresses the ``Community Policing" project, in particular the perception of the project by the public and the members of the Police of the Czech Republic from the time when the project was put into the practice of the Police of the Czech Republic to the present. The author focuses the thesis in particular on introduction of the new direction taken by the Czech police; described from the outset to the present state, the main priority of the new direction is a change of the approach of the Czech police to the public, with the particular focus on improvement of the mutual communication and also cooperation in solving common problems with the view to make the public apprehend the Czech police as its partner rather than a repressive unit. The introductory part provides the characteristics of the project, specifies the resources utilized in launching the project, the genesis, the philosophy of the objective of the work, and the current state of the project in the Czech Republic, and also describes implementation of the community policing strategy in the practice of the District Department of the Police of the Czech Republic in Prachatice. While using a method based on a quantitative research, the objective of the thesis was to verify or disprove three hypotheses; the first two hypotheses address awareness of policemen of the strategy and their motivation to implement the strategy in practice, and the third hypothesis examines awareness of the professional and the general public of the strategy. Based on the evaluation of the results, the first hypothesis concerning the policemen{\crq}s awareness has not been confirmed, the second hypothesis concerning motivation of the policemen has been confirmed and the third hypothesis has been confirmed in part since it was necessary to separate the professional public and the general public; then the hypothesis has not been confirmed in respect of the professional public and has been confirmed in respect of the general public. While processing the thesis, the author arrived at the conclusion that the management of the police has to place emphasis on motivation of the subordinate policemen to assert and promote the strategy among the general public while cooperating with the professional public, and to improve active communication.
