Evaluation of pulse Wave Velocity Based on Whole-Body Bioimpedance
Soukup, Ladislav ; Tyšler, Milan (referee) ; Vrba, Jan (referee) ; Vondra, Vlastimil (advisor)
This thesis deals with the methodology of use of whole-body impedance cardiography for evaluation of pulse wave velocity. The first three chapters explain selected hemodynamic properties of the arterial system related to the issue of pulse wave propagation. At the same time the ordinary methods for estimation, its disadvantages and merits has been summarized. Points at issue of whole-body impedance evaluation methodology for pulse wave velocity are researched in second part of this thesis. In order that analysis the procedure for correct methodology has been determined. Particularly determination of reference proximal point for calculation of transit time towards aortic valve, and design and accuracy of transit distance measurement were discussed. Based on the obtained data, a calculation of representative pulse wave velocity to eight limb locations was performed.
Evaluation of cardiac output by bioimpedance method with patients with pacemaker
Soukup, Ladislav ; Cimbálník, Jan (referee) ; Vondra, Vlastimil (advisor)
This thesis deals with the possibility of using impedance cardiography for calculating cardiac output. Kubicek’s, Sramek‘s and Sramek-Bernstein‘s methods are discussed here. These methods were applied to a data set, obtained by measuring on subjects with implanted cardiostimulators. The subjects’ heart rate was being changed by the programing of cardiostimulators. Thanks to this procedure the measured data were not affected by artifacts, connected with the heart rate change caused by a body stress, or other influences. An influence of heart rate on a cardiac output value based on the statistical processing of the data set was studied.
Ordinary differential equations and their applications in physics
Soukup, Lubomír ; Kisela, Tomáš (referee) ; Čermák, Jan (advisor)
Numerous tasks of engineering practice lead to ordinary differential equations. In many cases these equations exist as mathematic formalization of appropriate physical laws. The aim of this thesis is to mention some of these problems especially with regard to the topic discussed within the studies at FSI VUT in Brno.
High pressure hydraulics in agricultural machinery
Pavlík, Václav ; Kárník, Jan (referee) ; Soukup, Lubomír (advisor)
This bachelor thesis provides an overview of the most used ways of converting kinetic energy into pressure energy and the other way around by using hydrostatic converters. It is focused on the issue of high-pressure hydraulic mechanisms in agricultural machinery. In the next section I focused on getting an overview of the function of sophisticated hydraulic systems in current tractors and calculation of heat losses of lifting weight by front three-point hitch. For solving was used Bernoulli equation for real flow in pipes.
Large Extracellular Vesicles in Cell Culture and Blood: Role in Prion Transmission and Detection by Flow Cytometry
Soukup, Jakub ; Holada, Karel (advisor) ; Šebestová Janoušková, Olga (referee) ; Živný, Jan (referee)
Prions (PrP) are the main cause of neurodegenerative diseases such as Scrapie in sheep, bovine spongiform encephalopathy, chronic wasting disease in deer, and Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease in humans. Although the cellular PrP (PrPC ) is involved in many cellular processes, its precise function still needs to be discovered. The disease is caused by the accumulation of a pathological form of PrP (PrPTSE ), which is caused by direct contact of PrPTSE and PrPC . PrP is anchored in the membrane by GPI and can be transmitted by cell-to-cell contact, tunnelling nanotubes, or extracellular vesicles (EVs). EV factions are divided by different biogenesis into exosomes, microvesicles, and apoptotic bodies. PrPTSE was found in exosomes and microvesicles, but these fractions were never compared to each other. The first aim of the doctoral thesis is a comparison of PrP content, prion-converting activity and infectivity in these fractions on CAD5 and N2a-PK1 cellular models of infection. We isolated a fraction of large EVs (20,000× g) and small EVs (110,000× g) by centrifugation from a conditioned medium. We characterised EVs by cryo-electron microscopy and western blot with Alix, TSG-101, CD63, CD9, and HSP70 markers. The contamination from other cellular compartments was checked by calnexin. EV fractions differed...
Meanings of the word populism and their changes in czech political debate 2013-2021
Staněk, Jan ; Křeček, Jan (advisor) ; Soukup, Martin (referee)
The thesis "The Meanings of the Word Populism and Their Transformations in the Czech Political Debate 2013-2021" deals with how the term populism and its derivatives were portrayed in the Czech media between 2013 and 2021, with a focus on the periods of political campaigns before the elections to the Czech Chamber of Deputies. In the theoretical part of the thesis, the main concepts addressed by contemporary academic research on this phenomenon are summarized, including the theory of populism as a thin ideology, political discourse, and socio-cultural phenomenon. Furthermore, the contemporary context of the examined period is presented, including the main political actors, the course of election campaigns, and the topics that appeared in the political and media debate during the investigated period. The methodological part introduces the research method used, which is Berelson's content quantitative analysis, and outlines its basic limitations. The practical part first presents the research itself and its parameters, including predetermined hypotheses and research questions it works with. Subsequently, the results are presented, confronted with the hypotheses, and an answer to the research question is sought. Among the main findings of the practical part of the thesis is the revelation of a...
Covering families of triangles by convex sets
Krajči, Samuel ; Kynčl, Jan (advisor) ; Soukup, Jan (referee)
A convex universal cover of a family M of sets in the plane is a convex set that contains a congruent copy of every element of M. Park and Cheong conjecture that for every family of triangles with bounded diameter there exists a triangle that is a smallest universal cover of this family. We prove this conjecture for every family of all triangles with the lengths of their two sides fixed, every family of all triangles with the length of a side and the size α of the opposite angle fixed (where α is from an interval (0, λ]∩[3π/7, π) with λ being approximately 0.396π), every finite subfamily of a family of all triangles with the length of a side and the size α of the opposite angle fixed (where α ≥ π/2). 1
Alternating paths in colored point sets in convex position
Papáčková, Marie Guadalupe ; Valtr, Pavel (advisor) ; Soukup, Jan (referee)
This thesis deals with the problem of the longest alternating paths in colored point sets in a convex position, especially in point sets with n red and n blue points. The aim of the thesis is to summarize the main results in this area and put them in context. First, we present the basic concepts and the algorithm for finding the longest alternating path on a specific point set. We express l(n), the largest number such that for each arrangement of 2n points with n red and n blue points, there is an alternating path of at least l(n). We show the connection of l(n) to the problem of the largest separated matching. We present the most important lower and upper bounds of l(n), including the best ones published so far. Finally, we generalize the problem for multicolored point sets and show the related problem about (anti)palindromic subsequences of binary circular words.
