Differential functional diagnosis, the indication of fixed backrest and it's effect on the prevention of pressure ulcers in patients after spinal cord injury

This study aims to evaluate the importance of proper back support for patients with spinal damage after long-term sitting in a mechanical wheelchair. The subject of this thesis was to analyze Czech and foreign literature and offer the most accurate and still missing information when selecting and compiling the selection of mechanical wheelchair seating unit. The thesis describes the differences between right and wrong sitting posture of mechanical wheelchair users. It analyzes the available information on the possibility of objective assessment, as well as trying to justify the importance of the support of the trunk on the resulting stability and functionality during activities of daily living. It refers to the most common secondary changes and their chaining caused by poor sitting posture. A subjective evaluation of the comfort of users sitting in mechanical wheelchairs in the form of a questionnaire was chosen to assess the urgency of the theme. The research carried out confirmed the hypotheses of clinical practice, which are included in the work. Possibilities of Occupational Therapy Intervention for Cancer Patients

The aim of this thesis is to approach the issue of cancer patients and to present occupational therapy intervention in oncology. The theoretical part of the thesis is an overview of the most important concepts from the field of oncology. It outlines different types of treatments in oncology, including their side effects. There are also the most frequent cancer diagnoses in the Czech Republic and abroad. Furthermore, the work describes the general possibilities of rehabilitation for people with cancer. Next part is focused directly at the occupational therapy intervention in oncology. The practical part offers informational material about the possibilities of occupational therapy in oncology. It is primarily intended for laymen, but as a primary source of information on occupational therapy may well serve professionals working in oncology. Using of International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health and the assessment system InterRAI for self-sufficiency of patients with brain damage

The Bachelor thesis deals with the International Classification of Functioning Disability and Health, ICF) and the evaluation system InterRAI (International Residential Assessment Instrument). The main goal of this work is to introduce these two tools and test a suggested form on patients with brain damage. The work has both theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part presents the classification ICF and the evaluation system InterRAI, their principles, goals and possibilities for their application. It also summarizes a Canadian study dealing with the relationship between these tools and the possibilities for combining units of InterRAI with codes of MKF. The practical part is focusing on the possible use of the evaluation system InterRAI based on application codes ICF for evaluating aspects of independency. The aim was to design a form, in which certain aspects of personal daily activities from the evaluation system InterRAI are equal to the domain of ICF. This form would at the same time contain a chart with a scoring system, which should help to determine the value of relevant qualities. Opponent: Title: Educational Concepts of the Bachelor Degree in Physiotherapy This thesis compares educational concepts of the Bachelor Degree in Physiotherapy in the Czech Republic and in Spain, particularly at Charles University in Prague - the First Faculty of Medicine and Facultad de Medicina, Universidad San Pablo, Centro de Estudios Universitarios. The differences are identified by a quantitative and qualitative comparative method. Mainly the second semestr of the first year of the degree was evaluated, the work is focused generally on practical skills of a physiotherapy student. The context of the studies in both countries was summarized, the advantages and disadvantages of both educational concepts were specified. The main implication of this work is an insight to the training of physiotherapists abroad, which could be a starting point to a reevaluation of the current system of education in Physiotherapy in the Czech Republic. Role of Occupational Therapist in Palliative Care

Caring for dying patients dates back to the beginnings of medicine, although Palliative Medicine is described as a new discipline. The question of death and dying is taboo topic, even though the need for this care continues to increase. Palliative Care is provided through professional Palliative Team, which also includes Occupational Therapist. The aim of this thesis is to determine the possible intervention of Occupational Therapy in palliative care and to contribute to the literature on this issue. The theoretical part defines the concept of palliative care and there are key aspects. Thesis has been devoted to rehabilitation and palliative care, occupational therapy intervention, including specific examples of interventions in selected common symptoms of Palliative Patients. The practical part describes how to provide Palliative Care in the United Kingdom. Subsequently, there is described situation in the Czech Republic for comparison. For data collection methods there were used interview and observation. The conclusion of this work is to confirm that the Occupational Therapist has an important place in the Palliative Care team. Undergraduate occupational therapy education. Implementation of Problem Based Learning into the teaching of occupational therapy students.

This thesis deals with Problem-Based Learning (PBL), which is almost unknown in the Czech Republic, and its application in the undergraduate course of occupational therapy. This method is widely used abroad particularly in the medical education and education of other paramedical professions. More traditional way of teaching is maintained in the Faculty of Medicine in the Czech Republic. A large amount of information from various scientific and clinical disciplines that student cannot simply connect in logical context is taught in the traditional courses. Problem-Based Learning is a method that may compensate some needs of the traditional teaching. This thesis introduces PBL and shows examples of its application in teaching occupational therapy abroad. The aim of this thesis is to determine the factors obstructing or facilitating the use of Problem-Based Learning method in the Czech Republic within the undergraduate occupational therapy curriculum, to determine the possibility of application of this method in teaching, to formulate recommendations for the implementation of PBL and to develop design of syllabus using PBL. Functional recovery in patients after total elbow arthroplasty

Title of bachelor thesis: Functional recovery in patients after total elbow arthroplasty Abstract: The purpose of this thesis is to introduce the issue of functional recovery after total elbow arthroplasty. It consists of theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part is processed in the form of a research and can be divided into orthopaedic and rehabilitation sections. The first section provides a summary of total elbow arthroplasty from the orthopaedic point of view. It describes various types of modern implants, operation approaches, groups of indications and possible postoperative complications. The rehabilitation section focuses mainly on physical therapy itself. It describes factors that can affect postoperative progress and presents guidelines that should be followed during rehabilitation after semiconstrained and unconstrained types of implants. It also describes lifetime regime measures and recommendations for the patient. The theoretical part is compiled from the available Czech and foreign sources. The practical part is a case study of two patients with implanted semiconstrained total elbow arthroplasty.
