The issue of inclusion of organic agriculture and food industry in the teaching of natural science and biology at primary and secondary schools

This thesis called The issue of inclusion of organic agriculture and food industry in the teaching of natural science and biology at primary and secondary schools deals with organic farming, its present situation and current legislation in the Czech Republic and the European Union. The theme of organic farming and organic food is conceived in a broader context and it is followed by other related topics, such as food additives, transgenic organisms (GMOs) and Fair Trade. The primary objective is to provide to biology teachers in primary and secondary schools guidance on how to present this issue to their pupils and students. Based on the results of a questionnaire survey two hypotheses were verified: 1. Students know what the organic food is and can enumerate the basic tenets of organic farming. 2. Teachers of natural science and biology at the primary and secondary schools do not include organic farming issues in their lessons. Both hypotheses háve been refuted. Laboratory exercise in microbiology including media and environmental education at secondary school

The presented diploma paper is focused on creation of. The aim of the exercise used in the classwork is fixation and expansion of the stuff with help of practical activities. The paper is meant to be a help for grammar school teachers above all. It is so elaborated that it makes work in class easier. The theoretical part contains the analysis of the "Frame education programme" and skilful literature. This analysis was a base for creation of a layout of laboratory exercises. It is also possible to use it in preparation and realization of this exercise in a class. In the practical part there are three proposed laboratory exercises and methodical instructions for teachers. Microbiology exercises were successfully proved at grammar school. The suggested exercises, methodical instructions and theoretical base simplify the work for teachers in theme microbiology at grammar school.
Problems Connected with the Teaching of the Biology of the Human at Primary and Secondary Schools

Biologie člověka pojednává o všech stránkách života člověka, které vyplývají z jeho biologické podstaty a nepřesahují významněji do oblasti duchovní a sociální. Jedná se proto o obor velmi široký, jehož rozsah a hranice mohou být chápány různě (Novotný, Hruška 1999). Jakou metodu a formu výuky přírodopisu a biologie učitel zvolí, záleží na něm samotném. Ve své diplomové práci jsem se zaměřila na velmi účinnou metodu projektového vyučování, která vede к motivaci nejen žáky, ale i učitele. Vede děti к získávání vědomostí, к aktivnímu přístupu к učení i к uplatnění se v rámci kolektivu. Především proto bych doporučovala zařazovat tento typ výuky do učebních osnov častěji. Neustále se zdůrazňuje propojení školy s realitou života a právě projektové vyučování výuku životní realitě přibližuje nejvíce. Toto propojení výuky potvrzuji vytvořením školního projektu "Srdce" aneb konferencí o prevenci kardiovaskulárních chorob určený pro 8. třídu základní školy. A Floristic Study of Petřín

The first part of the thesis describes culture-historical and natural features of the gardens at Petřín. The reader learns about the protected area in the upper part of the gardens and crucial influences of human activity in this area in the past and present. The second part deals with the results of a dendrological survey carried out in the Kinský Garden and Nebozízek and floristic research of the nature monument Petřínská skalka in the period between spring 2004 and autumn 2005. The results of the mapping have been recorded in table files that relate to attached documentary maps. In the discussion, I compare the findings of the thesis to the results of inventoried materials and suggest possible causes of the differences obtaining between the two lists. In the didactic part, I suggest a way of using this area for educational purposes. It contains two tracks - one focused on timber species and the second on complex cognition of nature. The Theme of Projective Instruction with a view to Phenological Studies and their Use in Natural-Science Classes in Primary Schools

Diese Diplomarbeit heisst "Der Vorschlag der Projektunterricht mit Konzentration auf fenologische Beobachtungen im botanischen Teil des naturwissenschaftlichen Seminars auf der Grundschule". Der Autor schlägt nicht das ganze Projekt vor (der theoretische Teil), sondern er realisiert es auch in Praxis (der praktische Teil). Der detailierte theoretische Teil kennzeichnet die Methode des Projektunterricht als die spezifische moderne Bildungsstrategie im gegenwärtigen Schulwesen. Am Anfang des praktischen Teiles wird eine kleine Forschung angeführt, welche untersucht die Frekvention der fenologischen Beobachtungen im Seminarinhalt mit naturwissenschaftlichen Spezialisierung auf auserlesenen Pragischen und Mittelböhmischen Schulen. Das Projekt besteht aus einigen Teilen, welche füllen die Schüller aus während einem Kalenderjahr in dem naturwissenschaftlichen Seminar. Die Schüller stellen selbst ein Kvadratnetz her, mit dem sie ein Territorium 2 mal 2 Meter abgrenzen. Einmal in jeder Jahreszeit beobachten sie dann in diesem Gebiet die durch Klima und Wetter verursachte Naturänderungen. Ihre Arbeit wird nach den Arbeitsblättern geführt, die der Lehrer vorbereitet hat. Ausser Naturbeobachtung müssen die Schüller aber auch andere Fähigkeiten und Geschicklichkeiten beweisen (manuelle, organisatorische, soziale...)....
Understanding Nature in the Lower Grades of Primary School - Topics and Projects with Botanical, Zoological and Ecological Themes

The main objective of my diploma paper is to create a set of botanical, zoological and environmental topics to be touched upon during practical activities in biology classes, as well as during various extracurricular activities. The thesis is divided up into several parts. The first is concerned with elaborating the various subject matters for educational programs and the relevant first-academic-level* textbooks. Simultaneously, it also assesses the achieved level of practical activities and environmentalism of the two The part focused on research pursues to determine the educational methods of discovering nature, as applied in the biology classes. This part also pays attention to the general interest and encouragement towards practical activities on the pedagogues' part. The survey results are then charted into graphs. In the practical part I mean to focus on establishing the biology topics relevant for the first-academic-leveľ pedagogues, which should enable them to variegate the biology classes so that the students could enjoy the immediate quality experience of their very own observations. Utilization of Project Teaching Method in the Frame of Preschool Education - Changes of Autumn

The first part of the thesis deals with teoretical information on the project and project teaching method. In the frame of the second part a stock book of activities exploitable within the project is introduced. Practical part includes proposal of the project, description of its realization and evaluation. In the conclusion part a finding is introduced that age-heterogenous group of children is able to work on the basis of the created project (Changes of Autumn) although they have not had any previous experience with this project. The Use of the Question of the Influence of Nuclear Energy on the Environment in the Czech Republic and in Germany

Téma, Využití problematiky vlivu jaderné energetiky na životní prostředí ve výuce u nás a v Německu, jsem si zvolila především proto, že bydlím nedaleko Jaderné elektrárny Temelín. Od začátku bylo zajímavé sledovat, jak stavba pokračovala a jak se někteří lidé snažili svými protesty zabránit zahájení provozu. Nicméně v roce 2000 byl na prvním bloku zahájen zkušební provoz. Na gymnáziu v Českých Budějovicích, kde jsem studovala, jsme měli v rámci předmětu biologie možnost elektrárnu navštívit. To byl jeden pohled. Opačný názor nám studentům formou přednášky zprostředkoval ekologický aktivista z nejmenované organizace. Informoval nás o šetrnějším využívání alternativních zdrojů energie. Nedokázal však odpovědět na základní otázku, jak by nahradil energii vyráběnou v tepelných, jaderných a jiných elektrárnách, která škodí životnímu prostředí. Stále upřednostňoval vodní, solární a větrné elektrárny. Přestože naše paní profesorka biologie byla výborná učitelka, nic víc jsme se o využívání jaderné energie a radioaktivním záření nedozvěděli a ani ve fyzice jsme toto téma více do hloubky neprobírali. Chybělo nám například poučení, jak se chovat v případě jaderné havárie. Ministerstvo školství, mládeže a tělovýchovy 4. března 2003 vydalo pokyn, na jehož základě se do vzdělávacích programů přidalo téma Ochrana...
The Utilization Of City Parks in Biology Education Centered on the Královská obora

The thesis "The Utilization Of City Parks in Biology Education Centered on the Královská Obora" consists of two sections - general and dendrologic section and didactic section. Both sections are based on detected wood species of Královská obora, which are 204 species, including cultivars. The first part deals with the Královská obora, its history and damage by the flood in August 2002 and with the significance and evolution of the city green. Chapters focused on dendrology contain comparison between planting from the 60's before the flood and current planting, including already mentioned list of wood species, recording of the wood species in a plan and their brief description added by a picture of a leaf. The didactic part deals with the mission of an excursion in biology education and identification of the wood species with the children; an excursion into Královská obora for primary and secondary schools, including worksheets, is proposed. This work has four annexes: a herbarium, photos of wood species (both are added on CD), PowerPoint presentation (OpenOffice), which has one chapter in the didactic section and HTML pages.
