Compensation for damage caused by defective product
Sedláček, Jakub ; Josková, Lucie (referee)
79 Summary This diploma thesis deals with selected aspects of product liability. The main aim of this thesis is to conduct critical analysis of aspects related to the concept of product and its defects. The thesis analyses the legal rules contained in Sec. 2939 - 2942 of Act No. 89/2012 Coll., as amended, in the light of the Council Directive 85/374/EEC of 25 July 1985 on the approximation of laws, regulations and administrative provisions of the member states regarding liability for defective product, which is transposed into Czech law by these provisions. Although product liability has been part of the Czech legal order for more than twenty years, it still contains many unclear or controversial issues which are addressed in this diploma thesis. The thesis takes into account analogous legislation in Austria and Germany. The first part of the thesis describes product liability in a general way allowing to understand its purpose and systematics. The second part is devoted to the analysis of the purpose of Directive 85/374 and defines the consequences stemming from its EU origin, which must be taken into account in the interpretation of domestic legislation. The third part contains an analysis of the notion of product and offers a solution to the disputed issue concerning the subordination of intangible items...
Afterlife of digital user data: analysis of evolution of posthumous data policies on social media
Fléglová, Radka ; Šisler, Vít (advisor) ; Sedláček, Jakub (referee)
This diploma thesis focuses on the topic of posthumous user data management concerning social media platforms. This topic is rarely discussed from the viewpoint of new media studies in academic literature. My thesis endeavours to unveil, contextualize, and critically assess the development of the posthumous data policies in order to uncover the level of control users and survivors have over the deceased users' data. Thus, three case studies of chronological posthumous policy development of major social media (Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn) were conducted and results were compared. The analysis has shown that platforms are rather reluctant to change their posthumous policies. One of the primary triggers for change comes from the users' feedback. Across all three cases every platform provided limited or no information about these policies in their terms of use or privacy policies. The case studies demonstrated that users have very limited choices regarding their data after death directly on the examined social media platforms. Individuals who were close to the deceased account users have the ability to request account deletion or have limited access to the account granted by the platform. The level of data preservation demanded by platforms seems dependent on a given social media's communication specificity...

Studying the distribution of substituents in derivatives based on hyaluronane
Sedláček, Jakub ; Šatínský, Dalibor (advisor) ; Zimčík, Petr (referee) ; Chmelař, Josef (referee)
Charles University, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Analytical Chemistry Candidate Ing. Jakub Sedláček Supervisor doc. RNDr. Dalibor Šatínský, Ph.D. Title of Doctoral Thesis Studying the distribution of substituents in derivatives based on hyaluronan Derivatives based on hyaluronan have found applications in various areas of medicine. Prepared derivatives are commonly characterized by their molar mass and their degree of substitution, however, such parameters are unable to distinguish among derivatives with different distributions of substituents along the chain, which may exhibit different macroscopic properties. For this reason, methods to determine the distribution of substituents along the chain are needed. The presented thesis deals with the determination of distribution of amino groups in deacetylated hyaluronan. The theoretical part starts with a description of hyaluronan structure and of its derivatives. Next, the application, the preparation, and the characterization of deacetylated hyaluronan are discussed, focusing particularly on its depolymerisation into oligosaccharides using deaminative cleavage or enzymes that degrade hyaluronan. Finally, examples of liquid chromatographic methods used to analyse hyaluronan oligosaccharide are presented. The experimental part...

Artificial Intelligence and Classical Music Composition
Jouza, Vojtěch ; Šlerka, Josef (advisor) ; Sedláček, Jakub (referee)
This thesis deals with artificial intelligence composing classical music and ways of evaluating its performance by listeners. The text provides the first overview of the conducted experiments based on the so-called Turing test and, set up on the analysis of primary sources, it suggests possible improvements in terms of methodology. In the end, we propose an alternative test, which rejects the philosophical implications of the Turing test and, in contrast to the original experiment, also provides room for a music-theoretical analysis of the generated works.
A Verified Knowledge Source and Wikipedia
Rožek, Štěpán ; Dvořák, Jan (advisor) ; Sedláček, Jakub (referee)
The main subject and aim of this master thesis is the development and practical testing of a collaboration schema between Czech Encyclopedia of Sociology (Sociologická encyklopedie) and the Czech Wikipedia and its sociology-related content. The collaboration between these two information resources is based on the idea that the Encyclopedia of Sociology can serve as a quality resource for writing and editing Wikipedia and vice versa, Wikipedia can potentially increase Encyclopedia of Sociology's visibility and findability. The theoretical part of the thesis presents information about academic knowledge resources and open collaboration knowledge resources. Last but not least the theoretical part contains information about current practices of collaboration between Academia and Wikipedia. The research part of the thesis presents the development of the collaboration schema and its testing. Methods of semi-structured interviews and field experiment are used within this research. In the first part, one conducts interviews with Czech sociology experts and Wikipedians who are active in the field of sociology or related social sciences. The second part of the research then uses a field experiment to verify to some extent the information from the interviews and to induce reaction from the Wikipedian...

Brno New Train Station and its Public Spaces
Sedláček, Jakub ; Hybská, Bohumila (referee) ; Sedláček, Michal (advisor)
The topic of the Diploma thesis is a design of the New train station in Brno. The plot is located on the boundary of three city districts – Komárov, Štýřice and Trnitá. This area includes the railway structure for the new train station and also its public spaces, which are very close to the river Svratka. The railway structure is designed as bridge construction, that rises all platforms and rail tracks to 7,65 metres above the ground level. So all of the railways do not become a barrier in the city. The main concept extends a longitudinal axis of the city boulevard through the train station, which creates a high-rise building in the southern part of the plot. This axis is written not only to the layout but also to the roof design. The train station includes two underground levels, ground floor and first floor. Underground levels consist of P+R parking, deliveries only area, technical facilities and subway terminal. The ground floor is the main traffic centre. There is an entrance hall, shopping area, bus terminal and public corridors. The first floor includes platforms for train departures and arrivals. There are also public spaces in the entrance hall. The basic structural system consists of two parts. The first part is a massive reinforced concrete structure of the railway bridge deck and all underground levels. This structure is based on reinforced concrete foundation pads with drilled piles. The second part is a steel frame structure of the roof. That includes steel columns and truss girders for the structure of the lower area. The higher part of the roof is designed as a steel-truss bridge with the characteristic profile. The new train station supposes to create a new gate to the city of Brno, that connects contemporary districts with the historical city center.
The influence of virtual reality on stabilization functions of patients after cerebrovascular accident with neglect syndrome
Sedláček, Jakub ; Pánek, David (advisor) ; Pavlů, Dagmar (referee)
Title: The influence of virtual reality on stabilization functions of patients after cerebrovascular accident with neglect syndrome. Objectives: The objective of this thesis was to clarify whether postural stability of patients after cerebrovascular accident with neglect syndrome significantly worsen as an after-effect of virtual reality exposure in comparison with healthy probands and patients after cerebrovascular accident without neglect syndrome. Methods: 28 probands took part in this research, specifically 10 patients after cerebrovascular accident with neglect syndrome, 6 patients after cerebrovascular accident without neglect syndrome, and 12 healthy probands. All patients had been tested with Catherine Bergego Scale to evaluate neglect syndrome before the measurement of postural stability itself. That measurement consisted of probands being tested with Timed Up and Go test and a part of Berg Balance Scale. Afterwards, they took 10 minutes of immersive virtual reality game. Immediately after that Timed Up and Go test and Berg Balance Scale were repeated. The data were processed with MySQL database using a HeidiSQL program. Results: This research suggests that after exposure to virtual reality, there is no difference in changes of postural stability of patients with neglect syndrome in...
