International trade development of South Korea with EU and USA in 2009-2014
Čellár, Adam ; Zajíček, Miroslav (advisor) ; Procházka, Pavel (referee)
The thesis analyses the international trade of South Korean republic between years 2009 and 2014. The main aim is to analyze free trade agreements which Korea adopted lately. Specifically free trade agreements with European Union and United States of America. Diploma thesis is evaluating their influence on economic development of participating countries. Both free trade agreements are similar to each other in their scope and how ambitious they are. The time difference between these agreements is only one year. The introductory part is dedicated to Korean economic miracle. In other words this part is about key drivers of Korean economic development since beginning of 1960 until today. Next part after examines the development of economic relations between European Union and Korea. Korea became one of the most important trading partners for EU in contrary the great distance between countries. Applicative part analyses the influence of free trade agreements on international trade between countries and macroeconomic situation. For this purpose I processed basic macroeconomic data and detailed data about international trade. I try to evaluate positive and negative consequences of free trade agreements on involved economies. Major part is dedicated to FTA between EU and South Korea. Analyze consist of statistical data from different sources and couple position papers of official European institutions. Thesis examines the influence on major macroeconomic indicators, specific sections of international trade and the influence on trade with cars and car related parts in detail. The same procedure is applied for the analyses of KORUS free trade agreement. Similar data are used in order to maintain the consistency and comparability. Summary of observed conclusions is available at the end of each part.
Exploitation of Sub-Saharan Africa: Myth, or reality?
Rychetský, Petr ; Kotýnková, Magdalena (advisor) ; Procházka, Pavel (referee)
The aim of this work is to analyse the amount of wealth that annually leaves Sub-Saharan Africa. The theoretical part introduces individual theoretical concepts that are involved in the work's topic. In practical part, there is given a space at first to the quantification of the very amount that leaves Sub-Saharan states every year. Furthermore, the size of this wealth is measured with regard to the economic character and the level of development of individual countries. Measured is also the origin of that money according to the different industries. The work answers the question, which reasons stand behind the fact, that Sub-Saharan region sends annually not-negligible wealth to the rest of the world. This work shows that there is a direct proportion between nation's wealth and the size of money leaving the country, represented by the gap between GDP and GNI. This is caused by foreign investments, which stand behind the economic development, however the revenues usually go into rich countries outside Africa. The least loss of wealth is therefore recorded from the poorest states, whereas countries most affected by the wealth loss are usually richer and heavily dependent upon natural resources mining.
Innovation of banking information systems
Jašík, Jakub ; Basl, Josef (advisor) ; Procházka, Pavel (referee)
This dissertation is focused on innovation of banking information systems, in prac-tical part specifically on innovation Video Banker. The main goal of my dissertation is to analyze the problems, encountered during the implementation of technological innovations Video Banker in the bank. Problems are ana-lyzed from different perspectives and the method of continuous improvement and Ishikawa diagram are used. The analysis of problems is followed by the solution of those problems. Three consecutive versions of Video Banker are analyzed, therefore I evaluate the success of problem solving too. Then I also suggest possible further improvements. The secondary objective of my dissertation is the evaluation of influence of, both technical and functional, problems of Video Banker to the effectiveness of implementation of innovation. This evaluation is provided immediately, together with each problem de-scription. The theoretical part is designed the way to make the theory on ICT innovation, re-gardless of the segment, be followed by the specifics of the banking segment. Also the methods of analysis, subsequently used in the practical part, are described. The main benefit of this dissertation is an analysis of the implementation of a new channel for online client communication with the bank, using Voice over IP. Concerning this topic, there are just few publications available in the Czech Republic and also in the world.
Political cycles: Do the politics buy their voters' ballots with higher expenditures?
Fischerová, Veronika ; Vostrovská, Zdenka (advisor) ; Procházka, Pavel (referee)
The present thesis is concerned with the existence of political cycles in European Union member states between 1990 and 2013. These cycles are of two types: political business cycles and political budget cycles. The analysis was performed by means of the fixed effects method (using first differences) along with a visual analysis of data. The results obtained from three types of data sets show that two years before elections, inflation grows at 0.47%, unemployment rate at 0.5%, and structural balance at 0.8%. One of the data sets reveals that structural balance is reduced by 0.39% in election years. The visual analysis clearly demonstrates that there exist political business cycles in Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Poland and Sweden. Political budget cycles have been proven to exist in Belgium, France, Cyprus, Malta, Germany, Slovakia and the United Kingdom.
The impact of plasma induced flow on the boundary layer in a narrow channel
Procházka, Pavel P. ; Uruba, Václav
The induced flow generated by dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) actuator working in steady and unsteady regime will be used to modify properties of naturally developer boundary layer (BL) in short and length rectangular perspex channel which is connected to the blow-down wind tunnel. The actuator is placed in spanwise configuration and the inlet velocities will range between 5 and 20 m•s-1. Previously, mean flow field and statistical quantities were subjugated to investigation. In this paper, there will be presented dynamical features of the BL as well as tracking of coherent structures using phase-averaging. Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD) of influenced flow field and frequency analysis will be presented. These results should be taken into account regarding to use in the flow around a bluff body.
Effect of The Leading Edge on The Transitional Region in The Boundary Layer in External Turbulent Flow
Antoš, Pavel ; Jonáš, Pavel ; Procházka, Pavel P. ; Skála, Vladislav ; Uruba, Václav
The location and the area of the flat plate boundary layer transitional region has been investigated when changing the shape of leading edge and the external turbulence level. Experiments were performed in the close circuit wind tunnel of D1 IT ASCR with cross section of 0.9 m x 0.45 m and with either natural turbulence level (about 0.003) or gained by a grid across the flow (turbulence level 0.03 at the leading edge). The fundamental boundary layer characteristics illustrating differences are presented.
Dual-system Magnetoresistive Sensor of Turbine Blades Vibration
Procházka, Pavel ; Vaněk, František ; Hodboď, Robert
The paper is focused on new methods of non-contact sensing vibrations and deflections of rotating machine parts, especially blades of steam turbines. Special attention is paid to the methods and magnetoresistive sensors developed in the Institute of Thermomechanics for non-contact measurements of characteristics of rotating blades inside steam turbines under operation. Principles of non-contact sensors based on measuring deflections are described and compared, including new types of magnetoresisitive sensors.
Physical principle dealing with development of vortices formed by DBD actuator
Procházka, Pavel P. ; Uruba, Václav
Several configurations of vortex trains generated by plasma dielectric barrier discharge were measured by method of time-resolved PIV with application of phase-averaging of data. Mainly dynamics of vortical structures was studied in terms of vortex core trajectory, convective velocity, vortex diameter and vortex circulation. The generally valid physical mechanism of such vortices based on gained information will be introduced and presented. This mechanism will be considered with regards to the use for active flow control thus it could be very helpful in the future works dealing with plasma flow control.
Vortex structures generated by dbd plasma actuator
Procházka, Pavel P.
This article deals with the research of vortex structures generated by a plasma actuator. Plasma actuators belong to devices that can be used for active flow control. Plasma actuator flow control has been in the center of interest for the last two decades. However, one can find only a limited amount of information dealing with the physical principal of this phenomenon. The conclusion of this article is formulated to give an explanation of physical laws acting during generating, evaluating and decay vortex structures in a complex way to ensure that results could be apply in the future for more applicable research.
