Abstract: The location and the area of the flat plate boundary layer transitional region has been investigated when changing the shape of leading edge and the external turbulence level. Experiments were performed in the close circuit wind tunnel of D1 IT ASCR with cross section of 0.9 m x 0.45 m and with either natural turbulence level (about 0.003) or gained by a grid across the flow (turbulence level 0.03 at the leading edge). The fundamental boundary layer characteristics illustrating differences are presented.
