Philosophical, religious and socio-political views Karel Sabina
Brůha, Jan ; Štaif, Jiří (advisor) ; Pokorná, Magdaléna (referee)
Resume When discussing, albeit briefly, Sabina's personality, life and work as an introduction to the following parts of the thesis, reality is confronted with its reflection in his literary work. In this context possible intellectual defenses of his becoming a common informer for the police are being considered, together with certain implementations of related plans in the reports for the police. The reports, especially his exposé for the government dated 1867, Sabina's life and literary works serve as a basis. Attention is paid to their artistic evaluation. The conclusion of some authors regarding Sabina's submission to positivity as well as the decline in the quality of his work from the beginning of his common informer's career is refused. In Sabina's philosophical and theological opinions approximately from the beginning of the second half of the forties, various signs of Romanticism are analyzed: mystical light, especially related theism, his search for a certain analogy of that in the Slavic solar deity of Svetovid, veering towards philosophical skepticism. The then influences of philosophy are identified, especially of Novalss or Schelling In the upcoming years Sabina's defense of empiricism, continued inculcation of the rational side but also the decline of the mystical moment, yet still a steady...
The idelogical sources of Christian democracy in Central Europe in the years 1945-1948.
Kugler, Pavel ; Pokorná, Magdaléna (advisor)
Christian democracy in Central European countries which found themselves under the influence of the Soviet Union was not given the oppurtnity to play an important role in the development of the region in a way which was achieved by the Christian democrtas after 1945 in the Western part of Europe. A fundamental role in this procress was assumed by external conditions, and interventions from the outside became the decesive factor. Nevertheless, despite the relatively short period of tihe lasting in fact only two years, both identical traits and differences clearly manifested themselves in the understanding of what guidig idea of a party whith this programme delimitation should be. Value System at Teaching of the Normal school in Prague at the Turn of 18th and 19th Century
Raška, Jakub ; Tinková, Daniela (advisor) ; Pokorná, Magdaléna (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the Normal School in Prague, which was after the introduction of theresian General School Regulation (1774) a pattern for the lower education in Habsburgian Bohemia. For this reason, its teaching methods and distinctive value system could be understood as a norm for other lower schools in the Czech inherited land. The first chapter contains an overview of the development of the lower education from educational reforms of Maria Theresa to educational laws of Francis II. in the early years of the 19th century. In the second chapter, the author of this paper tries to show the ways in which the state-enlightenment school discourse puts emphasis on the connection of the state and the school on the basis of four texts by various authors, who had large participation in promoting the school reform in the Czech lands or were directly connected with the Prague Normal School. The last chapter, based on period theoretical texts on education, textbooks and sources compiled by the school, describes the school (= state) vision of the perfect man and his upbringing. Key words: Normal School in Prague, Bohemian Enlightenment, dawning of the modern state, etatization, value system, Alexius Pařízek, Ferdinand Kindermann, Maria Theresa, Joseph II

- Tomáš Kavka Supporting the Arts... Art Societies of Central Europe in the Context of the 19th Century's Social Modernization This dissertation focuses on the changing relations between society and art in the course of the 19th century. It observes the development within three cities - Leipzig, Prague and Brno - exponents of three different national environments. The thesis is based on the comparison of art societies representing these environments. Leipzig-based society Leipziger Kunstverein is a probe into the world of German art, Umělecká beseda of Prague demonstrates the quest for continuous development of Czech national artistic discourse and Brno's Mährischer Kunstverein is an example of the specifics of German community ringed by Slavic majority in Moravia. The thesis presents a view of Central-European artistic life, heavily determined by the dynamics of the 19th century's social modernization - the formation of civic society and national movements as well as the change of social discourse (namely concerning aesthetics and art history) about fine arts and its performers.
We hoped we will be better. The life of czech teacher in the second half of 19th century and the first third of 20th century
Měřička, Matěj ; Pokorná, Magdaléna (advisor) ; Štaif, Jiří (referee)
Because of the new Education Act (Hasner's reform), the second half of the nineteenth century was a very important time for education. I introduce a primary school teacher living at that time, his way to 'success' and whether the image, which surrounded him, corresponded to the reality. Using the Bourdieu's theory of capital, I investigate the individual aspects of the life of Vincenc Paulus (1840-1913), the school director in Chrast. He was the educator of the public, an amateur historian and archivist, an organizer of an ethnographic exhibition, a founder of a local museum, an active official of teachers' association Budeč chrudimská, and a member of municipal committee. Hence, it seems that he met the contemporary ideas about a publicly, and especially culturally active teacher and educator; who carries out all the work selflessly and enthusiastically, thinking only of the welfare of teachers, his pupils, local citizens, the municipality, the nation, the State and the Church. Convinced of the importance of his mission, he withstands any "slights" with patience and with belief in the future awards; and pays attention to avoid any unnecessary conflicts in order to protect his most important work - the education. Although, his behaviour may seem as conform, it was rather a "strategy", which, in the...
