Práce se zabývá Ústřední maticí školskou od jejího založení roku 1880 až do jejího zániku v roce 1951. Nejdříve přibližuje společenskou a politickou situaci 80. let 19. století, tedy období, kdy vznikaly národní obranné organizace. Poté rozebírá problematiku menšinového školství. Následně popisuje zřízení Ústřední matice školské a změny v její organizaci. Činnost Ústřední matice školské sleduje ve třech etapách, přičemž se zaměřuje na období po roce 1918. Nakonec ukazuje spolupráci Ústřední matice školské s Národní radou českou na příkladu jejich sporu o národní kolek. The work deals with Central School Association from its establishment in 1880 to its dissolution in 1951. At first it approaches social and political situation in the 80s of the 19th century, thus period of rise of national defensive organizations. After that it analyses the issue of the minority education. Subsequently it describes foundation of Central School Association and changes in its organization. It monitors activity of Central School Association in three stages and it focuses on period after 1918. In the end it shows cooperation of Central School Association with National Czech Council as an example their dispute regarding of the national stamp.
