Personal data protection under the law of European Union
Novotná, Lucie ; Scheu, Harald Christian (advisor) ; Svobodová, Magdaléna (referee)
Personal data protection under the law of European Union ABSTRACT The diploma thesis discusses the legal regulation of personal data protection under the European Union law with focus on the rights of data subjects, i.e. natural persons whose personal data are being processed. The aim of the thesis is to compare the current legal regulation of the rights of data subjects (directive on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data) with the legal regulation with forthcoming effectiveness (GDPR) with focus on the issue how the new legal regulation dealt with the problems for which the Directive has been criticised and how it dealt with problematic parts of the regulation of the rights of data subjects. The diploma thesis consists of five parts including the introduction, the conclusion and three chapters of the own text. The chapter one contains the introduction to the field of personal data protection, including the brief history of the development of personal data protection, and it is further divided into the sub-chapters where the primary and secondary law concerning personal data protection in the European Union and its development are introduced. The human rights context of personal data protection is also discussed in this chapter....
Framing of New Psychoactive substances in British Drug Policy Discourse
Novotná, Lucie ; Nekola, Martin (advisor) ; Morávek, Jan (referee)
This thesis, New Psychoactive Substances in British Drug Policy Discourse addresses new psychoactive substances (NPS) in drug policy discourse in Great Britain between 2000-2014. It focuses on the identification of individual frames and aims to understand the different perspectives NPS can be framed in The theoretical framework of this thesis is based on the idea of social constructivism and Frame Theory. On this basis, the thesis identifies individual sponsors, the general characteristics of the problem, the injured party, the public policy implications and the value base. It identifies four frames which are present in the discourse. The first, called Fragmented, does not perceive NPS as a comprehensive problem, but as individually occurring substances. The second frame the Prohibitionist wishes to tackle the issue of NPS using new tools of prohibition. The third one, the Regulatory frame is strongly polarized towards the previous frame and wants to solve the NPS issue by creating a legally regulated market for psychoactive substances. The last, Wicked frame, perceives NPS as an unstructured problem, therefore it cannot be solved by one measure. This frame favors an expert debate and evidence in order to find the optimal solution. The thesis puts the issue into context and focuses on NPS...
Temperature-dependent activity of egg-white antimicrobial proteins in precocial and altricial birds
Novotná, Lucie ; Javůrková, Veronika (advisor) ; Krist, Miloš (referee)
Microorganisms are considered to be crucial selective factor affecting reproductive success of birds. It is hypothesized that egg-white antimicrobial proteins and incubation behavior are the most important defense mechanisms that eliminates the risk of microbial trans-shell infection. The latest studies supposed that incubation temperatures may significantly affect the antimicrobial activity of egg white proteins. The concentration of egg white antimicrobial proteins as well as incubation patterns differ among altricial and precocial species of birds. However, experimental study testing the effect of incubation temperature on the antimicrobial potential of antimicrobial egg white proteins in altricial and precocial birds is missing. In this study we tested in manipulative experiment the effect of partial and full incubation, the concentration of lysozyme and ovotransferrin and their interactions on the antimicrobial activity of egg whites of two model species - Japanese quail (Coturnix japonica) and home pigeon (Columba livia). Antimicrobial protein activity was determined by the agar well diffusion method against two Gram-positive bacteria - Bacillus subtilis and Micrococcus luteus that have been documented as pathogenic egg-white invaders of several birds. Moreover, we analyzed the effect of...
Motivation for volunteering in social work
Novotná, Lucie ; Nová, Monika (advisor) ; Zelinková, Olga (referee)
v anglickém jazyce This thesis deals with the topic of motivation for volunteering in social work. The work focuses on theoretical knowledge of description, discusses the theories of motivation, its types and motives. The theoretical chapters further defines and explains the concepts of volunteering and volunteer. A separate section describes the role of volunteers in non-profit organizations, and then presents the organization DMO POBYTY z. s., whose aides have become the subject of research for the empirical part of this thesis. The aim is to find out what motivates volunteers to serve without compensation. The practical part is research used qualitative methods of data acquisition and subsequent analysis and interpretation of interviews with volunteers particular non-profit organizations.
Role of microorganisms in the evolution of reproductive strategies in birds
Novotná, Lucie ; Javůrková, Veronika (advisor) ; Ferenc, Michal (referee)
Microorganisms are ubiquitous and can be found on the body of birds, in avian nests or may be carried into the nest along with nest-lining material. Microorganisms may therefore colonize eggshells of eggs in a clutch and subsequently penetrate into the egg contents. This so called trans-shell infection has been observed to affect hatching success, cause embryo mortality or subsequently influence hatchlings phenotype. Nevertheless, the probability of eggshell bacterial load or trans-shell infection depends on many factors, including environmental conditions, nest type, incubation pattern, and nest-lining material. Furthermore, some modifications of avian reproductive strategies may lead to reduction of negative effect of trans-shell infections, and significantly improve reproductive success. These mechanisms include incubation, mechanical and chemical barriers of egg, eggshell pigments or using of feathers and specific plants as nest lining material. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the different reproductive strategies in birds should be a result of strong selective pressure caused by microorganisms. Although many recent studies have supported this assumption, research on this issue still suffers from many methodological shortcomings that must be eliminated in future studies.
Nursing care of the patient with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
