Methods: The research group consisted of 20 probands with multiple sclerosis, who subjectively perceived balance disorders. The group was divided into control and experimental group in a ratio of 1:1. The experimental group underwent an online twelve-week training course conducted in the form of the individual telerehabilitation (twice per week, 45 minutes each intervention). The training included strength and balance exercises supplemented by the Homebalance device. The control group underwent a twelve-week routine rehabilitation care, where patients underwent at least one individual physiotherapy and homework instruction. The initial and final examinations that all subjects underwent included functional tests: One-leg...
Optimization of laboratory denitrification test
Novotná, Klára ; Pániková, Kristína (referee) ; Malá, Jitka (advisor)
Leaching from agricultural fields not only releases high concentrations of nitrates into surface and groundwater, but also, for example, pesticides. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to optimize the input nitrate concentration of a laboratory denitrification test. This test will allow the study of the influence of different pesticides on the denitrification process and also the monitoring of their fate during this process. The theoretical part of the thesis describes the nitrogen cycle and its forms, the denitrification process and the factors that influence its progress are discussed in detail. In the practical part, a 28-day laboratory denitrification test was performed. Analytical methods used are described in the thesis as well as the process and the results of the laboratory experiment. Based on chemical oxygen demand profile, N-NOx concentration profile and denitrification rate, an input nitrate concentration of 15 mg.l-1 was recommended.

Title: Combined group exercise in patients with multiple sclerosis Abstract: The bachelor thesis is dealing with the effect of the combined group exercise on mobility and balance disorders in patients with multiple sclerosis. The primary aim of the study is to describe the effect of group exercise based on the combination of aerobic and balance exercises with the use of Homebalance system on balance and mobility in patients with multiple sclerosis. The secondary goal is to observe the impact of the exercise on the specific symptoms of multiple sclerosis (fatigue, reduced quality of life, cognitive disorders, balance and walking disorders). The thesis consists of a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part is focused on the description of multiple sclerosis and methods of its treatment with the focus on physiotherapy and physical activity. The practical part compares the results from the initial and final examination by using tables and graphs. For the evaluation of walk, the functional tests were chosen: Timed Up and Go (TUG), Timed Up and Go (TUG) + cognitive task. The balance was evaluated by One-leg stance test and the Limity Stability test using the Balance Master system. For the evaluation of accompanying symptoms of multiple sclerosis, standardized questionnaires were chosen (MSNQ, MFIS,...

BACHELOR THESIS ABSTRACT Author: Barbora Šmejkalová Supervisor: Mgr. Klára Novotná, Ph.D. Consultant: Ing. Karolína Jakovcová Title: Attitude to Rehabilitation and Exercise in People with Multiple Sclerosis Abstract: The bachelor thesis adresses the attitude of patients with multiple sclerosis to rehabilitation and exercise. This bachelor thesis consists of theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part includes a brief description of this disease and describes several possibilities of physiotherapy of multiple sclerosis. It also discusses the motivation of patients to exercise and appropriate physical activities. The practical part is based on a questionnaire survey conducted on the basis of a completed study in the MS Center at the Department of Neurology of the First Faculty of Medicine and General University Hospital in Prague. Data obtained from the rehabilitation questionnaire and the Godin-Shephard Leisure-Time Physical Activity questionnaire are processed in the form of tables and graphs. The aim of this work is to find out the patients' attitude to rehabilitation and exercise. I was interested in what motivates patients to physical activity and exercise, or what limits or prevents it. I also focused on monitoring the relation of demographic parameters to physical activities. The results...

BACHELOR THESIS ABSTRACT Name, Surname: Martina Holeňová Thesis supervisor: Mgr. Klára Novotná Thesis opponent: Title of the Bachelor Thesis: Cognitive Rehabilitation Cognitive Rehabilitation in Multiple Sclerosis Patients by an Occupational Therapist: Testing a New Application for Touch Devices Abstract: This bachelor thesis deals with cognitive rehabilitation in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) from the perspective of an occupational therapist, who together with a psychologist or a speech therapist practise cognitive function training. The extent of cognitive functions is variable, occur mild to moderate disorders, therefore has cognitive rehabilitation in patients with MS great importance. There are many cognitive rehabilitation software available, but none of them is primarily focused on MS patients. The aim of this thesis is to evaluate feasibility of the new sofrware for cognitive rehabilitation in people with MS (called Kote). In bachelor thesis is used the research method of a written questionnaire survey and on the basis of the evaluation of the non - standardized questionnaire the authors will be provided with suggestions for further software upgrades. Another aim is to prepare instructions for every game and to assign the area of cognitive functions that is trained in the game. The thesis is...
Management of physical activities in multiple sclerosis patients
Novotná, Klára ; Slanina, Petr (advisor) ; Drábková, Hana (referee)
v anglickém jazyce Management of physical activities in multiple sclerosis patients The thesis introduces how is possible to organise physical activities in groups of multiple sclerosis patients. First theoretical part of thesis describes the multiple sclerosis as one of the most frequent neurological disease with its typical symptoms and possible farmacologic treatment. There are also few comments about patients attittude to physical activity, their adherence to regular physical activity and how to motivate them for better compliance. Lastly this theoretical part contains international recommendation concerning type, intensity and duration of exercise in multiple sclerosis patients. The second part of thesis is about practical experiences with group exercise management in our organization (MS Center, 1st Faculty of Medicine and General University Hospital in Prague). The experiences from group exercise are analysed from three diffrent points of view: objective measurement of gait parametres, exercise attendance and data gained from patient questionnaire. Final part summarises knowledge from theoretical and practical part. In this part I tried to make some recommendation for management of group exercise in multiple sclerosis patients. Key words: multiple sclerosis - exercise - physical activity -...
Advances in treatment of human trypanosomiasis
Novotná, Kristýna Klára ; Mach, Jan (advisor) ; Grekov, Igor (referee)
Sleeping sickness is a human disease found in sub-saharan Africa, and is caused by a parasitic protozoan Trypanosoma brucei. Trypanosoma brucei species infects various mammals, however, only Trypanosoma brucei gambiense and Trypanosoma brucei rhodesiense subspecies are resistant to trypanolytic factors found in human blood serum. This work briefly summarizes known operating mechanisms of trypanolytic factors and resistance mechanisms of trypanosomes to these factors. The work covers mainly description and summarization of current diagnostic methods of sleeping sickness and used trypanocidal drugs. Majority of introduced methods shows high levels of sensitivity and specificity, however, for poor, disease affected areas they are often way too expensive. Prescribed drugs are expensive as well, and what's more, they are often ineffective against both subspecies and have severe side effects. Last part of the work is dedicated to potential development of new medicaments.

Gabrielová, Anna ; Novotná, Klára (advisor) ; Kövári, Martina (referee)
The thesis investigates problems of walking and balance disorders in patients with multiple sclerosis and the effect of group Pilates lessons. The theoretical part provides an overview of the current knowledge about the disease - etiology, pathogenesis, diagnostics, types and symptoms of multiple sclerosis (MS) and the possibilities of therapy. The Pilates method, its history and principles of exercise are described. The aim of the practical part was to evaluate the effect of the Pilates program on walking and balance in MS patients. The group included 32 patients, 21 in the experimental group and 11 in the control group. The experimental group participated on the 10 - week Pilates program. Standardized gait and balance functional test were used for objective assessment; patient outcome measurements were used for subjective evaluation of exercise effect. More detailed gait parameters were obtained using the GAITRite instrument. Measurements were performed before and after therapy. Significant change - improvement (p < 0.05) was observed in some values of balance parameters, walking parameters and even in some subjective questionnaires. Therefore, we suggest, that group exercise lessons supervised by experienced instructor may be beneficial exercise therapy for people with MS and mild disability....
