Use of ICT Technologies in the Biology Teaching
Semencová, Barbora ; Hlaváčová, Lucie (advisor) ; Němečková, Linda (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the practical use of information and communication technologies in the educational process, especially in the teaching of biology. It is divided into theoretical, research and creative parts; In the introduction, the theoretical part defines the key concepts related to the issue, further maps the development of educational strategies in the context of ICT, summarizes and points out the possible pros and cons of using digital technologies in the school environment and provides a list of selected ways to use technology practically at school. The research part of the thesis deals with the opinions and attitudes of Czech teachers of natural history or biology at different types of schools in the area of using ICT technologies with a focus on the above mentioned subjects. The research was carried out in the form of a questionnaire survey, which was attended by 168 respondents across the Czech Republic. The creative part is based on the results of the research part of the work and presents the educational program Virtual around the School, which brings together all the materials for teaching a specific topic - systematic plant biology using digital technologies. This program was piloted in November 2019 in cooperation with Petra Strozziho Primary School in Prague.
The Purpose of the Subject of Biology for Lower Secondary School Pupils and the Influence of Modern Technologies on Teaching Science in Large City Comprehensive School
Štiková, Štěpánka ; Řezníček, Jan (advisor) ; Němečková, Linda (referee)
The diploma thesis is focused on lower secondary school pupil attitudes toward biology as a school subject and describes the development of our own measurement tool. The teaching experiment, pupils filled out a questionnaire focusing on fading the extent of thein interest in this subject. A questionnaire with 5-point Likert type items was used a research tool. The sample size contained 239 elementary school pupils. Questionnaires were divided into six cetegories: The relevance of biology, Difficulty of biology, Interest in biology, Practical biology, Satisfaction with regard to teacher's attitude and Modern technology in biology lessons. The empirical research focuses in mapping the influence of modern technologies on teaching biology. The research design was based on the case study of the lower secondary school gathered data was processed and by means of open and selective coding data analysis method. The results of the surwey showed that the subject is biology rather popular subject. The research also showed that science teachers use tablets in lessons in two ways. First, they use applications that are applied to repeat and practice the curriculum. Second, tablets allow information retrieval and subsequent work with them. All respondents see the use of tablets in science teaching as an...
Didactic Utilization of Selected Angiosperms in Teaching at Elementary and High Schools
Moldaschlová, Jana ; Skýbová, Jana (advisor) ; Němečková, Linda (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with a didactic use of selected angiosperms in teaching at elementary and high schools. It provides theoretical knowledge concerning angiosperms, selected families, and plant species. Furthermore, it describes selected teaching techniques and methodology which can be used in teaching of the angiosperms. This thesis contains specific suggestions of the teaching methodology dependent on the selected plant families. A part of the thesis is a questionnaire survey, which contains the use of various forms and methods of teaching in natural science lessons at elementary schools and high schools. The results of the practical work are represented by practical exercises, worksheets and didactic games which teachers could use in teaching of the angiosperms. Key words: teaching techniques and methodology, questionnaire suvey, angiosperms
Model Systems in the Study and Teaching of Molecular Biology
Kripnerová, Michaela ; Ehler, Edvard (advisor) ; Němečková, Linda (referee)
Molecular biology and genetics are currently very fast developing disciplines. One of the possibilities how to increase the pupils' interest in studying of molecular biology and genetics, and to support their own curiosity is to use research-based teaching strategies. Although Czech Education tries to correspond with this progress, teaching of molecular biology and genetics is limited not only by financial and material limits but also by a lack of vocational education. The diploma thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part deals with the position of molecular biology in teaching and model systems in the study and teaching of molecular biology and genetics. The practical part is divided into three chapters. The goal of the first chapter was to present available teaching materials suitable for a teaching at grammar schools, especially with regard to the availability of manuals for practical seminars. The second chapter summarized the results of a questionnaire survey among grammar school teachers, which concerns the position of molecular biology and genetics in teaching. Both of the above-mentioned goals have shown that more needs to be done about the molecular biology of genetics. According to the teachers, students who would like to continue to pursue this...
Nature Reserve V Pískovně as the Place of School Botanical Excursion
Saňáková, Petra ; Skýbová, Jana (advisor) ; Němečková, Linda (referee)
The bachelor thesis focuses on Nature Reserve V Pískovně as the place of school botanical excursion. The theoretical part covers fundamental information about the nature reserve and also describes some plant and animal species. The practical section especially discusses proposal lessons that could be carried out before and after the excursion. Excursion and asociated lessons should pupils to create positive relationship to nature.
Options of Approach to Teaching of Morphology of Leaf at Lower Secondary School
Němečková, Linda ; Pavlasová, Lenka (referee) ; Skýbová, Jana (referee)
The thesis deals with the options of approach to teaching leaf morphology at lower secondary schools from both theoretical and emprical point of view. The empirical part is then verified on-site within the teaching process. The theoretical part is dedicated to the topic of leaf and particular aspects of the teaching process. The empirical part at first attempts to conduct a survey of the methods and organization forms of teaching applied at particular lower secondary schools within the teaching of leaf morfology. Afterwards, it analyses selected textbooks used for teaching biology. Next part describes suggested methods and organization forms of teaching applied less frequently during the education. The second goal of the thesis is to put in practice the methods and organization forms of teaching within an educational experiment. Afterwards, a didactic test is used at representative schools to verify the efficiency. At the end of the thesis, the results of the following are presented: the observation of teaching leaf morphology, the analysis of the biology textbooks content, and the didactic test. The results of the didactic test demonstrate the extent to which the skills and knowledge of the students are effected by the methods and organization forms of teaching applied within the educational...
