Policy-Based Flexible Spectrum Usage for Next-Generation Mobile Communication Networks
Musil, Tomáš ; Polívka, Michal (referee) ; Škorpil, Vladislav (advisor)
This Master's thesis deals with proposal of Flexible Spectrum Usage (FSU) algorithm based on policy agreed among operators. The introduction presents basic information about properties of next generation mobile communication ITM-Advanced system. After the introductory part the attention is given to the items efficient for FSU implementation as well as parameters used for evaluation of FSU algorithm efficiency. Several variants policy based FSU algorithm utilize value of Signal to Interference plus Noise Ratio (SINR) is designed. The SINR information is used to combat with mutual interference which is caused by coexistence of several operators in the same geographical area sharing over the same spectrum pool. Individual needed as traffic and quality of service requirements of each operator is taken into consideration as well. The main aim is to maximize cell troughput as well as data- rates for each user of HBS. For simulation of proposal algorithm is considered deployment of four Currently Home Base Stations (HBS) in indoor loacal area scenerio with random number of users in given range. Each operator makes independent dicision without signalling exchange among other. The only considered information that HBS can use is gotten by scenning its environment. This problem soliving is considered to use Cognitive Radio (CR)

Wireless Messaging System
Musil, Tomáš ; Dlouhý, Jiří (referee) ; Sekora, Jiří (advisor)
The aim of thesis is a design of wireless pager, that can be used for short text messages transmission from the sender to a particular recipient. The report is sent from a computer via serial port. The application is based on microcontrollers, which provide data protection, evaluation and display data on the display of the receiver. The wireless transmission is effected via the RF modules, that are powered from batteries.
Project culture and its improvement
Lázníčková, Iveta ; Chocholatý, Drahomír (advisor) ; Musil, Tomáš (referee)
This thesis introduces the three types of culture. The goal of this thesis is to determine the main dimensions of project culture and show how to improve organizational or project culture through a questionnaire survey. Last but not least, the next goal is to describe all the steps that follow after the evaluation of questionnaire. The first part discusses the sense of culture and the kinds of culture. The beginning is about the national culture. The following chapter deals with corporate culture and its main characteristics. In terms of the main goals of this thesis, the end of this part focuses on the list of methods of improving organizational culture and specifics of project culture, including its characteristics and dimensions. The second part concerns about the introduction of the company and project, where the survey took place, including identifying the main features of corporate culture and core values of that company. Next chapters deal with the structure and evaluation of the questionnaire and activities that follow after the evaluation.
Využití DCT/DCE v paralelních výpočtech rotorů
Jakl, Ondřej ; Musil, Tomáš
Four years ago, The MathWorks, the producer of Matlab, fulfilled the wishes of many users and released the first version of the DCT/DCE tools enhancing Matlab’s capabilities towards parallel processing, to take advantage of the modern multiprocessor/multicore computer architectures. We followed DCT/DCE’s development, investigated this computing environment from the point of view of the “classical” parallel programming and took advantage of it in a set of Matlab codes for modelling of nonlinear dynamics of rotors. This paper summarizes our (throughout positive) experience.
Úvod do paralelního Matlabu
Jakl, Ondřej ; Musil, Tomáš
The contribution provides an introduction to the DCT/DCE parallel computing environment which has recently become part of the Matlab software collection. An application from the field of nonlinear dynamics of rotors is presented and selected parallel constructs are introduced. Practical experiments with this application show very good parallel performance and scalability on a local cluster of 8 processors.
Matlab paralelně
Jakl, Ondřej ; Musil, Tomáš
Matlab is a popular software widely used for technical and scientific computing. Quite recently, its producer The MathWorks released an add-on toolbox enhancing Matlab’s capabilities towards parallel processing. We investigated this environment and developed some parallel Matlab codes for modelling of nonlinear dynamics of rotors. This paper summarizes our (throughout positive) experience.
Parallel algorithm of modified Newmark's method in dynamics of rotors
Musil, Tomáš ; Jakl, Ondřej
Parallel algorithm of modified Newmark's method is used in dynamics of rotors supported by finite length journal bearings. The algorithm, realized in the MATLAB parallel computing environment (DCT/DCE), was tested on two different types of parallel computers – a Beowulf cluster and symmetric multiprocessor. Tests revealed good scalability and efficiency of proposed algorithm.
Distributed Computation in Rotor Dynamics Supported by Fluid Film Bearings
Musil, Tomáš
Using distributed computing the equilibrium position and the response of the rotor on excitation of rotating parts have been evaluated. The rotor was supported by fluid film bearings of finite length. All calculations were performed on a parallel computer with distributed memory and with eight processors.
